It’s a busy week here in the crappy old CatBox.  Yesterday TriMet recertified my chair and I for another three years.  Unless I go back to the shiny new CatBox  with WWWendy, my next trip out is Monday.  I have a Cat Scan.  The IV contrast is bad enough, but I HATE having to drink the oral contrast, which I call Cat Pee.  Today and tomorrow are the coolest days of the heat wave (low to mid 80°s).  Enjoy your day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:53 (average 4:29).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

What gorgeous scenery!

Short Takes:

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Boris Johnson wins vote, expected to be UK prime minister

Poor UK! Boris Brexit is a Bridiot! RESIST!!

From Politico: President Donald Trump may have to hand out some new nicknames — for himself — after endorsing a bipartisan budget deal with Congress: “Trillion Dollar Trump?” “Deficit Don?”

With a new bipartisan budget deal that does nothing to cut federal spending, Trump is on track for another $1 trillion deficit this year. And there’s no reason to believe the following fiscal year will be any different, with ballooning deficits from higher spending, the 2017 tax cuts — Trump’s signature legislative achievement, which slashed revenue — and none of the entitlement reforms long preached by Republican leaders on Capitol Hill.

There is only one reasonable solution. It is undoing a decade of Republican welfare for the super-rich, combined with a steep wealth tax. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: The billionaire Donald J. Trump’s bid to become a born-again Christian failed over the weekend after Jesus Christ turned down his friend request, campaign officials have acknowledged.

Jesus, who has not generally been active on Facebook, made a rare appearance on the social network on Monday to announce His decision to ignore the presumptive Republican nominee’s request for a personal relationship with Him.

In a brief post, Jesus offered the following explanation: “Just everything.”

The turndown from Jesus Christ, the inspiration behind one of the world’s most prominent religions, caps what has been a tough month for the Trump campaign.

Look Andy, that is just not credible. Trump would never try to befriend the real Jesus. Trump’s Jesus is a GOP invention, Republican Supply-side Jesus, whose gospel of greed, hate, racism, violence and death matches his own beliefs and those of the pseudo-Christians in the Republican Reich. RESIST!!

  1. Looks as though the UK is just as eff-bombed as the US. I understand Canada is nice this time of year. 😉

    • Watch out for Andrew Scheer, leader of the Conservatives in Canada!  He is quite republicanesque and cannot be trusted.  PM Trudeau is not perfect, but the election of Scheer as PM in October 2019 will send Canada lurching dramatically to the right.  Arrggghhhh!!!!!

  2. CNN: Ugh!! It is me? or does Boris look like DT??

    Poliricio: What you said, Tom.

NYer: I concur with the Lord on this one. Maybe if dt knocked on Satan’s door he’d be more receptive to a welcome?

    Cartoon: Ummm, yummy!!

Hi, Wendy, what a GREAT picture of you, and TC’s new pad !! Nice and roomy too! Good news on Tri/Met, but imho, they should go to you, not the other way around, js…. No rain yet, now it’s for Sat/Sun. Maybe. Enjoy the rest of your day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. 4:34 Claws (ok, talons.)

Gorgeous scenery indeed. And the cabinets, stove, and fridge aren’t bad either.

    New Randy Rainbow!

CNN – Ah. Britain’s Donald Trump. I’m so sorry for the sane ones there.

Politico – Am I evil to be provisionally grateful that we won’t have to deal with another shutdown for a while at least? I realize it may be difficult later, but, right now, I feel like I can only fight on so many fronts, and when that’s exceeded, the excess is simply lost.

TNY – Well, no, not credible, for the reasons you give – but it does make a point.

Cartoon – And brain freeze with it?

    • OK, I have a TJI:  You know the “white power” sign?  The thumb and first finger circle with the other three fingers extended?  I recently learned that sign is already in use in AMESLAN.  It means “A$$hole.”  (Easy to see why, once you know.)

    • Most excellent Randy 🌈 All done in his living room against a green wall. What a talent!

  4. Hello, Wendy, nice to see you. And thank you!
    CNN: What a shame!
Politico: So, the party that used to like to call itself “Fiscally responsible,” no less the champions of “Family Values,” has lost ALL of its former identity.  Now, it might’s well bring David Duke on a RNC chair!!
New Yorker: Actually, “Just everything,” is the Aramaic polite form for the Yiddish “Schmuck!”
    ‘Toon: A day to celebrate!

  5. Lynn: LOL !! 1212

  6. CNN: Have to agree with Pat that bOris does look like dt. Really too bad.
Politico: Really sad to see he keeps digging a bigger hole with adding more to the already out of control deficit.
TNY: I wouldn’t want to be friends with the satan either.
Cartoon:: Great day to enjoy some ice cream with this high heat.
Nice to meet Wendy. Your kitchen looks great. Great cabinets, flooring and appliances. So roomy. You must be getting excited. I know I would be.

  7. 3:10 Watch those claws and that beak, TomCat!

    Catbox: Nice view.

CNN: What did you expect? Boris was voted in by his own party, the Tories AKA Republicans, not by the British majority of people. And even within the party, ministers and such are resigning and running for cover, not wanting to get blamed also for the Brexit carnage that’s now following.

Politico: Trump doesn’t need a nickname, for some of his followers Trump may still have The Best Economy, but for the rest (of the world) Trump is the worst swearword on offer. The T-word is soon to replace the f-word.

TNY: Jesus on Facebook? Really, Andy, you must confuse him with the Republican Supply-side Jesus. And even he won’t have Trump as a friend. Go figure.

    Cartoon: Lactose-free, no doubt?

  8. Puzzle — 4:45  Be very careful of those talons Puddy Tat.  Your claws maybe no match.

The new digs — Yup, great scenery! The room’s not bad either. Is the stove pale blue? Looks that way to me.

CNN — Boris is an idiot.  The US took a deep dive with Trump.  Now the UK with Boris.  We need some sanity in the world and these two are not it!

Politico — If Republicans succeed at cutting federal spending, it will at the expense of social programmes.  With that, there goes the economy!  We all know that the rich do not buy to the level of their incomes, whereas the average American spends on food, rent etc.  The only solution is as you say Puddy Tat, “undoing a decade of Republican welfare for the super-rich, combined with a steep wealth tax.”  Of course, that follows after at least 60% of Republicans are pushed out of office.

The New Yorker — Mission impossible!  Abort!  Abort!  ABORT!!!

Cartoon — Thank God with this heat!!!

  9. Great new digs TC!

  10. Thanks and Hump Day Hugs to all. 28
