I have been complaining for months that my Democratic Party needs to grow a spine and fight back against deceptive Republican misinformation.  I so hope that this begins a trend.

GOPfriends Democrats’ House campaign committee is starting its first advertising blitz of the fall election cycle Tuesday with a TV spot hammering Wisconsin GOP candidate Sean Duffy, one of several Republicans who are threatening to wrest an open Democratic seat.

The ad charges that Duffy, running for the Republican nomination to succeed retiring Rep. David Obey, favors privatizing Social Security. It’s the first salvo in what promises to be a series of highly negative ads by Democrats as they fight an uphill battle to keep control of the House in a toxic political environment.

The party’s decision to air it before Labor Day reflects what strategists say privately is a calculated tactic in key districts: Blast Republican candidates early in attempts to disqualify them in voters’ eyes before they can make a case for themselves… [emphasis added]

I wanted to see that ad, and it wasn’t too hard to find.

Bravo!  In district after district we need to get the truth out there, fast and hard hitting.  Let Republicans play defense for once!

  1. Tom, Tom, Tom you know as well as I do that the DNC is going to call this ad too confrontational and will force it off the air.

The National DNC ad’s I’ve heard are going to be a blank screen with a voice over that say’s “Hey we tried, Vote Democrat because we’re nicer than them.”

  2. Good for them – about time!

  3. Like I commented at jabberwonk, we definitely do need more ads like that. The truth can’t hurt.

  4. But the Obamanibles only conDEM the miserepubilkans’ SS privatization schemes so they can cave to the catfood commission’s demands for the concessions of raising SS eligibility age and reducing benefits. They’re in collusion to play the worse and worst cop game on US!

    • Bruce, If I said I was satisfied with Obama’s appointments to the commision, I’d be a liar of Republican proportions, but I think that it’s stretching it to assume what the Democrats’ response will be before the report has even been written. That’s conviction in advance of the crime.

  5. I sound like a broken record but I’m compelled, once upon a time we had a media that did it’s job. People actually tuned into Sources like Walter Cronkite. They wanted to know what he had to say. His report while not opinion based was fact based. We knew uncle Walther would tell us the truth. That’s what missing today.
You have to seek out the truth and who the hell has time. So most of us let some other schmuck interpret what’s going on and tell us how we should feel about a subject. MSM you have to love em, cause they said so.
