constitution

We have been covering the US Constitution line by line.  When Republicans wave their paper props and parrot their vile machinations, we will be prepared to expose the lies.  We have finished the main body of the Constitution.  Now we continue with the Amendments.  You can find the last article on the main body of the Constitution here. It has links to all the others.  The text comes from The US Constitution.  Previous articles in the Amendment series:

Article I
Articles II and III
Article IV
Article V
Article VI
Article VII
Article VIII
Articles IX and X
Articles XI and XII
Article XIII
Article XIV
Article XV
Article XVI
Article XVII
Article XVIII

Article [XIX]

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

The Nineteenth Amendment provides for women’s suffrage.  It is not controversial.  Democrats and most Independents support women’s rights.  Some Republican men would prefer their women barefoot and pregnant.  However they are afraid to voice it.  There are some things men just should not do.  If a woman’s ass does not look fat in those jeans, she will not ask if it does.  When she asks, men, who wish to survive, lie.  Opposing women’s suffrage brings a similar response. πŸ˜‰

I shall try to put up a new article in this series almost every day.  It will take some time to cover it all, but when we’re done, we shall be immune to the lies with which Republicans seek to undermine our freedoms.

  1. Very nice insight there TC. Little white lies in a relationship don’t hurt, a frying pan to the head does.

  2. Otis always says “I’m not answering that question.”

  3. I had an excellent education. I never cease to be amazed at how much I learned in school.

My sixth grade teacher took us back and forth and up and down to make sure that we understood the Constitution. He would have had us memorize it if he could have. (he slapped a kid, school board met that night, he was fired in the morning. The school system, also, did not tolerate bullies.)

In 1998 or 1999. I was outside of a music venue between sets, just gassing with other people. I’m over 50, they can’t legally get into a hard liquor place. A question came up about constitutional rights. I was confused because no one had a real clue as to what they were talking about. I asked questions, they had no idea of what their rights were. None, not the A level college graduate to the punkiest 13 year old.

I talked to the manager about renting the venue for a night. I found a lawyer that was willing to talk about the Constitution and what rights people had. I guaranteed the venue manager that I would make up the difference if not enough people showed up, guaranteed the lawyer her regular fee.

Sold out, The lawyer was exhausted. She had just spent the better part of 6 to 7 hours talking. I went and got her food when she started losing it from exhaustion and lack of liquids.

Booked a second show. Sold out. This time the questions were a lot more informed and she wasn’t able to cover as far as she wanted to. Went hours past closing time, also, for a lot of attendees past curfew, too.

Third show was cancelled. Her bosses had told her that they would fire her for her “off the clock” work. I suggested free speech, she countered with regular paycheck.

At least someone is trying to get the truth out again. Even lawyers in the Senate and House are just flat making shit up.

    • Welcome GE. πŸ™‚

What you did is excellent! I’m 62, so I also learned about the Constitution in school. Thank you. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do.

  4. …and still no equal pay

  5. Eh, the Rushpubliscums are getting more comfortable with their misogyny these days. Just look at what they’ve pulled in Oklahoma and South Dakota.

  6. Some Republican men would prefer their women barefoot and pregnant. However they are afraid to voice it.

Leave it to South Carolina again but I heard a “preacher” on the radio one time say women should not vote. Of course it was a rural radio station in the upstate and it was on an AM station.

  7. I remember when Ann Coulter argued that women shouldn’t have the vote because she didn’t like the way most women vote.

    • Come to think of it, Lib, I remember that too. I remember when the Coultergeist was way out there in the fringe. Now she’s just a normal Republican pundit.
