It’s another busy day here at the CatBox.  Anne from CCC is stopping by to pick up the paperwork for my application.  Store to Door is delivering groceries.  I’ll have to put them away.  WWWendy comes this evening to de-stink the putrid TomCat and help with chores.  Tomorrow I go back to the Heights for my formal application.  Please expect no more than an Open Thread and no links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:32 (average 6:16).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Media blame "both sides" for Trump’s government shutdown

Media-wide this is quite true, but to be fair, note that their only example for MSNBC was from a guest, not a host, on the network’s only conservative show. They have reported accurately, describing it as a Republican shutdown. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Washington Post Channel): Unraveling President Trump’s top 5 claims | The Fact Checker

Dang! I must have the gift of prophecy. I predicted that all five claims would be lies! RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: In blistering remarks aimed at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Ann Coulter demanded on Tuesday that she be allowed to deliver the 2019 State of the Union address.

“Nancy Pelosi should stop playing politics with the State of the Union,” Coulter told reporters. “Tradition dictates that I deliver that speech next week, and I intend to do just that.”

The conservative pundit scoffed at congressional Democrats’ condition that she reopen the government before being able to deliver the State of the Union.

“Clearly, since becoming Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has let power go to her head,” Coulter said.

Coulter indicated that she would use the State of the Union to speak to the American people not only about the border wall but also about her plans for the economy, trade, and America’s role in nato.

Dang Andy! If she makes Putin’s Pervert open the government, let the Coultergeist give the speech.  RESIST!!

  1. MM: I’m with you. the republicons are at fault and own this, as Mr. Dictator mentioned, he will bear the ‘mantle’ for this. END the dam (R) shutdown!

WPC: Quite honestly, I can’t stand him, nor listening to his lies. 8158 LIES! ‘of all time’. WOW!

NYer: Gawd, I thought the same thing, let her blab for his SOTU in the House, and we open the government! dt listens to Faux, let them do it. lol Andy!

    Cartoon: Nope, I’ll pass!

Hi, WWWendy! Hope your application flies through quickly, best to you to, & from the Heights too. Enjoy your day, get your rest, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  2. A wall isn’t going to stop terrorists. They’ll come in by plane or boat – or documented immigration.

The Mango Moron’s top five claims are lies? Gee, what an enormous surprise.

Privatizing Social Security would be a disaster. I once thought it was a good idea, but now I know better. Privatizing Medicaid? That would put even more people at the mercy of for-profit medicine. Some things belong in the public sector.

  3. 5:47  Thus spoke.

OK, freekibble dot com and freekibble dot com slash kat choked me up this morning. All that they raise through free clicks today (and it’s a 10x day) will go to pets of furloughed federal workers.

    MM – AAAAAAARRGH !!!!

WaPo – I don’t think that requires the gift of prophecy. The gist of discernment is just as effective.

TNY – Well, she could do it better then Traitor Tot … but it would still be abysmal (his speeches are sub-abysmal.) If either of them tries to go to the House floor on the 29th and the shutdown is still on, they will find the door locked, the lights off, and no one hme.

    Cartoon – AAAAAAARRGH !!!!

  4. Good luck on securing The Heights!

Now I’ve got to go blow some snow – literally.  (I don’t do cocaine)  But only ~ 2″ at the most.  Easy-peasy … at least for my Toro snow blower.

  5. It is NOT both sides fault, damn idiots!!! ?

NO do not let them privatise anything!!!

YAY application being picked up, GOOD LUCK! ???

  6. It’s Twitler and McTurtle’s fault.

Wow!!! 8158 LIES in two years.

I’m glad your application is being picked up. I wish you luck. Tell WWWendy hi.

  7. MMC: I wish the idiot would get if off his stupid mind (something that he doesn’t seem to have) that there isn’t any horrible terrorist, drug dealers or people killers coming across at the border. He is talking pure trashy garbage. Needs to shut his mouth and open the up the government so people can start living their lives again. He created this mess not he needs to clean it up NOW,
WPC: Double WOW…8158 LIES! Wish I had a dollar for ever time he lies.
TNY: We need a petition started that states that we the people don’t want to hear the flipping idiots 2019 State of the Union address. We can certainly get enough signatures to ban him . So maybe Freya can create one for us??? Please??
    Cartoon: Definite NO to that.
Good luck tomorrow with The Heights application.

  8. Good luck tomorrow.
MMC: It is Drumph all the way, with quiet support from McTurtle.  In the book, “Leave None to Tell the Story: Genocide in Rwanda,” Human Rights Watch found that “…this genocide was not an uncontrollable outburst of rage by a people consumed by ‘ancient tribal hatreds.’…This genocide resulted from the deliberate choice of a modern elite to foster hatred and fear to keep itself in power.” Diamond, pg. 317 Just what Drumpf*cker is doing with the border issue and his “core” of fools.
WP: I hope they get one of those new quantum computers, as they might just need THAT level of computing to keep up with the count.
New Yorker: Andy really ought not spill the CIA’s info. on who is really running the country, c’mon.
‘Toon: We’ll give tRump the border wall money, if he’ll build it around Mar-a-Largo, with him inside, of course.

  9. 4:51 Classical Dutch paint job to prevent stealing.

MM: There isn’t that much truly independent media left let alone left leaning media, so I suppose most media blaming both sides is a win, really. They could only blame Democrats for it, as Drumpf is very hard trying them to do.

WP: I really would like to see a video of anything Drumpf has told the truth about instead; it would save so much time and aggravation to watch it.

TNY: Mitch hit the nail right on the head there.

I hope you conquer the Hights tomorrow, TomCat. The very best of luck!

  10. Puzzle — 4:45  I don’t recommend trying to eat this!

Media Matters — Republican’s own the shutdown.  Trump said he’d “wear the mantle” and not blame Democrats.  He said he would sign a particular bill and then as usual, he back tracked because he received blow back from the Coultergeist and Limbaugh.  So much for owning the mantle.  Democrats can not believe he will do what he says so what can they do.

Related: With this on again/off again SOTU address, Nicole Wallace had this suggestion:

I wonder if that would be enough for Trump to get his ass in gear?

WaPo — How do you know that Trump is lying?  If his mouth moves he is lying!  8,158 lies or deceptions in two years is outrageous!  As to your professed gift of prophecy, I’d say it is common sense, not prophecy.

The New Yorker — But only give her a nano second to give the speech.  That’s all that people should have to endure!

    Cartoon — Not a chance!

Two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and I presume your exclusive bathroom — when you get it, you’ll likely think you’ve died and gone to heaven (so to speak)!  Here’s hoping all goes well!  Moving again will be no picnic but at least you’ve already done the purging.  You’ll be able to go crazy with the catnip and not worry about hitting anything in your glee at the new place!  Sorry I have not been around much the past almost 2 weeks.  Last week I emptied a storage locker with my mother’s stuff (mostly household furniture).  While I had a company come and do most of it, there were 6 boxes of my books which I had at work for others to use.  The boxes are very heavy and I aggravated my already aggravated back getting them from the car to the house.  Now they are sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor while I go through them.  The furbabes think these are their jungle gym!  I have also been asked to speak again this Friday at a ground breaking ceremony for a long term care facility geared to dementia patients.  I think I’m getting a reputation (sigh).

  11. Thanks all.  Hurried Hugs! 26
