Even though it’s a holiday, it’s a busy day here in the CatBox, as I have documentation to collect for the housing application.  No rest for the weary!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:53 (average 5:10).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Kamala Harris announces 2020 presidential bid

I would have no trouble supporting her for President, I still prefer Liz, but do so with no opposition to Kamala. RESIST!!

From Alternet: On Monday, viewers of “Fox & Friends” were startled by a graphic that flashed briefly on screen implying that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had died.

The image showed a picture of Justice Ginsburg’s face, with the caption: “SUPREME COURT JUSTICE RUTH BADER GINSBURG 1933-2019”:…

…The graphic, which presumably shocked a number of viewers, quickly led to an on-air apology from “Fox & Friends” hosts, who say it was a control room error. “We don’t want to make it seem anything other than that was a mistake,” said Steve Doocy. “It was an accident.”

0121RGBFaux

Why should the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, even have prepared this graphic? The rabid, bloodthirsty bastards are having a Nazi wet dream in anticipation of that event. Health and long life to the incomparable RBG! RESIST!!

From Crooks and Liars: Remember when America had a President that wasn’t a Russian asset? I’m old enough to remember when our President didn’t suck up to dictators or put children in cages. When the anxiety of life under Trump overwhelms you, here are 5 movies to help you escape reality for a couple of hours.

Trump and his crew make Watergate seem like a children’s story. But if you want to remember the “good old days” of Watergate, there’s no better movie than All the President’s Men.

The story of how Washington Post reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward uncovered the conspiracy to cover up the Watergate scandal has many parallels to the Trump era. Richard Nixon was an egomaniac who thought he was above the law, and he broke many laws to cover up his crimes. While Nixon didn’t work with a hostile foreign power to undermine America, the scandals of Trump administration have similar characters and crimes from that time period.

All the President’s Men is currently on Cinemax, or you can find it on Amazon Prime or on iTunes.

I think I’ll watch at least three, I shared one. Click through for the other four. RESIST!!

  1. Kamala Harris? She looks promising. However, I’ll do my homework on all of the candidates before I make a decision. None of them are perfect, all will have baggage and skeletons in the closet. But if any of them are true progressives, they’ll have my support.

I’m glad the RBG graphic was a boo-boo – if I’d seen it before realizing it was a mistake (and I NEVER watch Faux news) I would have collapsed! We can’t lose her, not now.

Yep, that’s how Rethuglicans celebrate MLK Day. Except they call it “Dead Negro Day.” Except they don’t use “negro,” but a word that is best left untyped.

  2. CNN: A worthy candidate, on MLK day too! I’ll see who the others are, and make a decision later on.

AN: Faux has since put out an apology, but nevertheless, very, very, very poor reporting. I don’t watch Faux, however…. I do wish RBG a healthy recuperation, & good vibes while she’s healing.

C&L: Will do, and watch it. Thx for the head’s up!

    Cartoon: UGH!!

I feel ya about documentation, it’s tiring, but in the long run, for you, it will be well worth it. Hope that you get it!! Enjoy your day, and evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. CNN: She is one of my current Senators and have been pushing for many of the issues that I’m all for. Find it interesting that she waited for today MLK day to make her announcement. There’s going to be many people running this time, so it’s going to get really interesting. Plus a lot of research on our parts to figure out which one is best.
AN: What a bunch of idiots. Shame on them. Glad I don’t watch the trash. Wish Faux news would disappear just like tRump.
    Cartoon: Double UGH.
Good luck with getting your paperwork all together. Have been praying that it does go through for you, Tom.

  4. 5:06 Is that snail tiny, or is the plant bigger than it looks?

By all means do that documenting. You da man! If anyone can get you that apartment, it’s you. Woo Hoo!

CNN – Kamala would do a fine job. – at least if we can get a strong Dem majority in both houses. Otherwise we’ll be seeing the same kind of obstruction Obama got, or worse. (Incidentally, if anyone cares, it’s pronounced “Comma-la.”) We have such a fine group of Democrats … and we also have such poisonous non-loyal opposition to deal with – right now every possibility is looking scary to me. I hope the view improves.

AlterNet – They are doing their best to demoralize us. Yes, thank God, ceiling cat, Dog, the FSM, and Karma that we do still have Ruth. John Lewis’s office posted an electronic thank-you card for her.

CnL – Segueing in from AlterNet, I also thank God, ceiling cat, Dog, the FSM, and Karma that we still have both Bob and Carl with us. Even though it’s different today, their experience and their ability to speak directly to history is invaluable in surviving without losing one’s mind. I have the DVD of All the President’s Men, but doubt I’ll be able to watch today (or tomorrow). Incidentally, though Nixon didn’t work with a hostile foreign power to undermine America, he did work with one to get elected the first time.

Cartoon – Which state did I read has announced all government offices will be closed today for Robert E. Lee’s birthday?

  5. Faux news [sic] has a long sordid and soiled history of “accidental mistakes” like this – especially w/ their chyrons.

  6. I really like Kamala Harris!
What IS up with Alternet anyway?!
Faux BS: I am sure it was another “subliminal” attempt to get trump$ters & trump riled up. I smell another hoax to get nut-puppies to attack RBG. trump better hope she stays alive until a Democrat gets to fill that seat (and others!) because I would hold him personally responsible if she died before that. McConnell should be especially worried about her health & welfare – traitors are fragile in an uprising! 😉

    • I’m not sure anything’s up with AlterNet – they just reported on the Faux booboo, they didn’t make one that I can see.  Did you mean something else?

    • Yvonne, Alternet was sold to the company that produces Raw Story last April.  Is that it? 23

      • There has been a format change to the articles, and to the newsletter since then – maybe that is it.  It used to be owned by Independent Media Institute (which created it.)  I recognize some of the names at IMI as being past and present authors for it … so, as sales go, it wasn’t as disruptive as many.

  7. CNN: I really like Senator Harris. For me right now, I’m partial to her and Senator Warren.

AN: I don’t watch faux news either and I’m glad I don’t. I think they are disgusting and I agree with Colleen. I wish faux news and the orange one would disappear.

CnL: I love all of the movies mentioned and have watched them all many times.

Good luck with the documentation. Keep up the great work. Fingers crossed that you get that great apartment. Thank you TomCat.

  8. OMG was that really a boo-boo from faux?!?!? ?

    i like Kamala Harris too!!!

Wishing you oceans of luck for the new place!!!

  9. Y/T-CNN: I am a bit unhappy with the plethora of candidates, hope the Dems do not shoot themselves in the foot!
Alternet: Faux not-news disgusts in sooo many ways!
C&L: Hell, I can recall when a President was a relatively human person!
‘Toon: Someday some future anthropologist, and/or archeologist  will look at a long faded one of these pictures, and wonder why these folks were not on their meds.

  10. Puzzle — 3:39 No escargot for you tonight Puddy Tat!

CNN — You go girl!!!  I can hear Diaper Don already starting another birther campaign because her mother was from southern India and her father from Jamaica.  When did that traitorous toddler ever consider truth and facts?  Don’t answer, it’s a rhetorical question and we all know the answer — NEVER!!!

AlterNet — Ruth likely quoted Mark Clemens when she heard about the ‘mistake’: “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

    An accident my ass!

“Trump, who has gotten to make two Supreme Court appointments, has openly and gleefully entertained the possibility that Justice Ginsburg’s death could give him a third.”

Crooks and Liars — I have already seen 3 of the 5 movies.  Dave seems like fun.  I’ll have to check at the library. Vice is a good movie to watch — about chickenhawk Cheney. Christian Bale portrayed Cheney and at an awards ceremony, he thanked Satan for the inspiration.

Cartoon — Must be in Alabama or Mississippi!

  11. Thanks and Hugs to all. 35
