Yesterday my technician stood me up.  I rushed through my blogging and prepared the area.  I waited for him for four hours, before I gave up.  I feel pretty angry at him, but I’d like to hope that he had an emergency so extreme that he could not even call.  I’ll listen to his explanation, before I put him on my do not use list.  Today is a High Holy Day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  It’s Division Playoffs Weekend.  My Broncos are not playing, because they stink.  If your team is still going, may the Orb bless them with its holy light.  Tomorrow is a WWWendy day.  After destinking a rancid TomCat, we have a ton of tasks.  Please expect no more than a Personal Update or an Open Thread, and I will not be sending links messages on Care2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:07 (average 5:38).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (NSNBC Channel): Senator Chris Van Hollen: Mitch McConnell Has Been ‘AWOL’ In Shutdown

Bought Bitch Mitch [R-KY] is a total coward. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Fox News on a Democrat swearing vs Fox News on a Republican embracing white supremacy

Barf Bag Alert!!

Well, you didn’t expect integrity from the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, did you? RESIST!!

From Alternet: Evangelical activists demand LGBTQ protections be removed from anti-lynching bill.

Incredibly, the United States has no law that makes lynching a federal crime. Now, decades after the Civil Rights Movement, a bipartisan group of senators introduced a bill to correct this. The Justice for Victims of Lynching Act would give federal prosecutors the power to charge people for bias-motivated mob killings. It passed the Senate unanimously and by anyone’s reckoning should be a slam dunk.

But according to PinkNews, the fundamentalist legal group Liberty Counsel is now lobbying the House to change the bill. Why? Because lynchings of LGBTQ persons are included as crimes — and that just might be a slippery slope to federal laws that would protect all LGBTQ civil rights.

“The old saying is once that camel gets the nose in the tent, you can’t stop them from coming the rest of the way in,” said Mat Staver, the group’s president. “And this would be the first time that you would have in federal law mentioning gender identity and sexual orientation, as part of this anti-lynching bill.”

Liberty Counsel has previously compared homosexuality to pedophilia, attacked bans on abusive “conversion therapy,” and defended the infamous former Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis as she defied the Supreme Court’s orders to allow same-sex couples to obtain marriage licenses. The Southern Poverty Law Center lists it as a hate group.

This is the 4th in the author’s list of the week’s 5 worst Republican outrages. Click through for the rest. RESIST!!

If they could, Republicans would repeal it.

  1. 5:08 Pretty bird. If you eat him, you’ll probably fart in Technicolor.

I’m running late, but I will have an Erinyes later today. Sorry about your technician.

The Chrises – Yeah. Another broken promise. What else is new.

MM – I can’t watch. Pirro’s voice is like H2SO4 in the ear. But I don’t expect anything but hypocrisy anyway. In the real world, as near as I can tell, people are loving Rashida Tlaib. the harshest criticism I’ve seen from a Dem is that it was at best tactless to call Traitor Tot by Mike Pence’s Secret Service code name.

AlterNet – It’s telling that, as much as I try to stay current, he found a couple I had no idea of. That’s how much chaos there is. I knew about Steve and Rudy, and about this (which I still say is blasphemy on the part of evangelical so-called Christians.)

Cartoon – Republicans would repeal a lot of things if they could. The 14th and 17th amendments, for instance

  2. MSNBC: MM needs to go. Spineless, and irresponsible. He’s definitely a brown noser to dt. ugh!!

BBA: ugh, I’m with Joanne, I can’t stand to listen to Pirro. I use Navy lingo daily, even after 49 years, almost 50, so when company/family (& little ones) are here, I refer to ‘the president’, my favorite word on a daily basis is: ‘Eye Dee Ten Tango’. ‘I D IO T’ . lol

AN: The bigotry is appalling, and not what the Good Book says to do.

Cartoon: Of course they did. ugh!

How frustrating for you, shame there is no consideration for calling you either. Yea, I’m out for my team too. Tell Wendy I said HI, and hope she’s doing good too. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Yes, we are still building the wall. The president is shi**ing bricks as we speak.” ~ Jorge M. ~

  3. MSNBC: Totally AWOL would be really nice, like maybe he could be put in Leavenworth, for treason!
MMC: I will not watch the video because these people nauseate me, but supporting Steve King, who cannot see what is wrong with White Nationalism, is like supporting Herr Adolph!  No, Tlaib ought not to have used that language, especially as it gives the trolls on the right a chance to scream about “those Muslims,” and about how they have been right al along!
Alternet: According to Wikipedia, “The Southern Poverty Law Center has listed Liberty Counsel as an anti-LGBT hate group, a designation which has been disputed by the group.”  Well, of course they would deny it, just like Steve King would deny he’s a bigot!  Conservatives and Evangelicals have prefrontal cortexes that operate as if there was physical damage to them.  They can not tolerate concepts that are not already living deeply ensconced in their brains.
‘Toon: I’m sure the GOPIGGIES would see that time as “The good old days!”

  4. Rethuglicans’ idea of the “good old days” are when women couldn’t vote, blacks had to drink from separate bubblers, and LGBTQ people had to stay in the closet. Currently I am reading “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and it is grim going. That is probably the GOP’s idea of a utopia.

  5. 3:58 Unless Lynn does better, it’s all yours, TomCat.

Sorry about the no-show of your techie; find a more reliable one, unless he’s on government furlough and desperately trying to feed his kids and pay the rent.

Chris Hayes: Mitch McConnell AWOL? This is the most scheming strategist the Republicans ever had as a leader; Machiavelli has been taking posthumous lessons from him, so never ever think he’s cowering in a dark corner somewhere. He’s scheming with a number of his cronies to get out of this mess without losing face, perhaps even coming out a winner. That wall has become the symbol of Republican survival and Democrat would do well to find out what McConnell has been up to these past weeks and prepare themselves for the worst.

MM: Can’t stand to listen to that woman, so I won’t put my self through her torture. But if all Pirro can come up with is a swearing Democrat who got carried away in a bar after winning her seat in the election to counterbalance Republicans embracing, or should I say embodying, white supremacy then I’ve saved myself from wasting time too.

Alternet: I’m really confused again. The way I read it, the Liberty Council is upset because “lynchings of LGBTQ persons are included as crimes”, which to me means that the bill contains a (limited) list of ‘types’ of people which Americans are not supposed to kill in “bias-motivated mob killings”, but others ‘types’ not mentioned are quite OK? Yes, I’m a foreigner, but is it very strange for me to think that ALL mob killings are explicitly not based on jurisdiction and therefore implicitly bias-motivated and criminal? Shouldn’t all lynchings be criminal, no matter which human being was killed by the mob?
If there is no such list in this bill, as I fervently hope, wouldn’t lobbying for an exemption to lynch LGBTQ persons be absolutely ludicrous and even a crime in itself?

Cartoon: Fortunately that was rectified in 1920; for white women, that is.

  6. MSNBC: Agree with so many above that “Totally AWOL” would be nice. I had been noticing that they hadn’t shown mItch’s disgusting face the past week or so. It’s been nice not seeing or hearing his voice. Wish tRump would do the same and disappear from our planet.
MM: Again I agree with others above that i can’t stand watching faux so-called commentators.
AN: Too much chaos. Not good at all.
Cartoon: That good that’s a rule they can’t change.
Sorry about the technician not showing up. I’ve had ones for Cable and heating run hours late, but they normally call to notify me. Hope your tech finally comes out.

  7. Puzzle — 3:50  I guess it is all yours Puddy Tat!  Happy rainbow farts!

MSNBC — McTurtle is a cretin and a Bought Bitch! playing games with people’s lives.

Media Matters — I ran out of barf bags!!!

AlterNet — Oops!!!  There is that ditch again!  Even though I read the OT yesterday, I forgot you had it in there.  They are all bad, but Steve King and the Liberty Counsel are the worst.  This is nothing new for King, but lynching not being a crime when it is a member of the LGBT community?  What depravity is this? . . . and from so called Christians!  These are pseudo Christians, Republican evangelical pseudo Christians.  They make me sick with their hate!

Cartoon — Of course they did and it was so much fun that they want to do it again!

  8. Thanks all.  Pooped hugs! 26
