It’s another busy day here in the CatBox.  I have a computer technician coming to resolve some connection and network issues.  Therefore this is today’s only article.  TGIF!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:14 (average 4:13).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Trump A.G. Pick Advocated Pardons By George H.W. Bush; Bashed Mueller Probe (17:28)

The Republican Reich has a long history of using sleazy tactics to evade responsibility for their crimes. There they go again! RESIST!!

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Protesters speak out on the shutdown and why media should talk about its human impact

Furlough all the Secret Service agents that protect high ranking Republicans. That would end the Republican government shutdown today. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: In a bid to end the government shutdown, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh said on Thursday that he would recycle his empties to pay for a wall with Mexico.

Speaking to reporters from his office at the Court, Kavanaugh said that the inspiration came to him while he was building a beer-can pyramid in his basement rec room on Wednesday night.

“I was in my man cave, building this rad beer pyramid, and I was, like, I bet if I recycled all the beer cans down here plus the ones out in the garage, I’d have enough to pay for that freaking wall,” the Supreme Court Justice said.

Andy, I have a better idea. Instead of a wall that won’t work, Injustice Pervert KavaNazi should use that money to buy himself a chastity belt. RESIST!!

  1. 4:19 Granted I’m weird, I think vultures are kind of cute, and this one has a sweeter face than many of them.

Rachel – Michael Cohen lied to Congressional committees chaired by Republicans who wanted him to lie. Somehow I don’t see that going over with Elijah Cummings. Certainly, when dealing with a known liar one must be cautious as to what you believe. But Elijah is up to it. Incidentally, looking at those clips from the Reagan and Bush I administrations does anyone besides me wonder, what happened to those reporters? Why can’t we get questions like that asked now? As to Rosenstein, it was reported he would step down after Barr’s confirmation, but it’s also been reported he will stay until Mueller’s report has been submitted. Of course, the timing may be pretty close.

MM – The disconnect is not between the people and the government. The disconnect is between the people and REPUBLICANS. I don’t blame Media Matters for that, since it was a direct statement by an interviewee. But it illustrates how badly people misunderstand what is going on.

TNY – He’s never recycled in his life, has he. He has NO CLUE how little one gets from recycling aluminum. This has to be straight reporting.

Cartoon – Keeping a low profile these days.

  2. Thanx TC ?

  3. RM: Great video, I love how she explains her points. Gulp, he’s back, (Barr), I wonder what is going to happen when everything comes out in the open….and will there be a repeat as to what was done in previous administrations? Not good, imho. ugh!

MM: My heart goes out to all of them. This must stop! People want to work, and be able to put food on the table, and pay their bills. It’s a downright disgrace! Like your comment too, Tom.

NYer: We still recycle aluminum cans and plastic. I can’t see “I like beer!” BK,  doing anything to help anybody, or anything, what a weasel. (Apologies to real weasels.)

    Cartoon: Absolutely!

Hope the tech visit went well for you. Enjoy the rest of your day/evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. The orange ogre doesn’t care about anyone but himself. We need to bombard our senators with phone calls to get them to pass a bill that’s veto proof to end this charade.Thank you TomCat.

  5. Twitler not only doesn’t care one iota about hurting anyone else, as long as he’s not hurt.

And similarly, he refuses to take any responsible for any untoward events of his doing.  No longer is he “Proud to take the mantle of the shutdown – I won’t blame Democrats” – when asked if the “Buck stops with him” he blames everyone else with “The buck stops with everybody.”

I’m pretty religious about recycling paper, plastic and aluminum cans.  For some odd reason, all the pop (whether in cans or plastic) I buy here in KCMO is stamped w/ the 5 cent return redemption for Iowa, where you get charged the nickel for each item.  We in Missouri do NOT get charged, so it’s like free money.  So when I was going up regularly to see Mom in Illinois, I would stop at the Hy-Vee grocery store (they all are redemption centers) on the poorer east side of Des Moines and give them to the people who could use it.

Now that I rarely go to Illinois, I’m dropping them off at the recycle dumpster at the middle school close to me.  The school gets the money, although there’s so much plastic since China has stopped taking a good deal of it because of Twitler, that they don’t get much money for it at all.

  6. MSNBC: “…appear to directly undercut…,” of course!  What, is anyone looking for logic, for consistency in Pres.* Grifter’s actions, words, etc?  Let me know when you’ve dug down to China.  “Trump A.G. pick,” like all his picks help identify the worst people one could find.
MMC: “hy don’t you end the shutdown, and stop hurting people?”  “Because then you won’t give what I want.”  People?  He gives not  damn; they are just pawns a s far as he is concerned.  BUT, today, he is reported to have said that “If I order the wall to be built, I will loose in court.”  So, MAYBE, he is working n a strategy that will let him worm his way out, trying to safe some of that ugly face.  “Well, my sheeple, I DID try mightily, but those darn Dems got in the way!”
New Yorker: Chastity belt, lifetime supply of double thick, guaranteed never tear, rubbers.  It would be good, if one day he could be given a Darwin Award.  Ah, darn, he’s already got 2 kids.
‘Toon: One picture can nauseate 1,000 people, or 1,000 people, squared.

  7. 3:09 (Average 4:13) Not the prettiest of birds, but very useful in nature. Not so much in politics.

Rachel Maddow: RAchel ends with the wrong question: Is it possible that in this environment, this day and age, the Senate will appoint an AG that has ended Bush’s administration with helping pardoning everyone? She should have ended with the statement: Of course this Republican Senate will appoint Barr as Drumpf’s AG BECAUSE he’ll keep Drumpf safe for as long as possible and then help pardon everyone involved in Russia Gate, including some of those Senators.

MM: ??Thank you so much for posting this video and none of Drumpf whining about his wall, TomCat. ??
Please keep this up until the shutdown has ended, which is for all those federal employees’ sake not too long.

TNY: Isn’t that sweet of Brett, giving up his beer-can pyramids to give Drumpf the metal wall he so longs for? Oh, I know, Drumpf was pushing him for something in return for the favour he did Brett and Brett had found it very hard to deliver, but his beer-can pyramids? That is supreme sacrifice.

Cartoon: It’s been quiet too long in that corner. Makes me wonder what they’re up to.

  8. MM: Good video. Agree with that they need to let the creep in office know how much they are suffering because of his stinking shutdown. How he can go to sleep at night with all of the he*l he is causing them, I’ll never understand. I guess when you are both heartless and brainless you have no real feelings???
NY: I have a better suggestion for Brett…why don’t tRump and Brett go down and start digging the holes for the bars of the wall? That way the two as*holes can take care of their problem themselves.
Good luck with your computer connection and networking visit.

  9. This just in:

Donald Trump sent bill for park toilet clean-up by Oregon Governor’s husband

Kudos to Dan for leading by example and cleaning the filthy mess Drumpfians left behind after they abused the possibility of visiting the parks when no entrance fee is charged. For all those who don’t get paid now, but also for the sake of these parks and its wildlife, lets hope the shutdown ends Monday. The amount of destruction Drumpf, his administration and his base are doing to every possible level of American society is unfathomable.

  10. Puzzle — 3:13 Be thankful Puddy Tat that Lona and I saved you from being ravaged by that vulture!

MSNBC — So much for Trump’s braggadocio!  “I know the best people.”  Wilbur Ross?  Tom Price?  Scott Pruitt?  Ryan Zinke?  Rex Tillerson?  William Barr????  I think it is more like Trump knows the “best” scoundrels and fraudsters!  I was able to watch Rachel’s interview with Sen Mark Warner.  Warner would like to see Barr withdraw from the nomination . . . like that will ever happen.  Failing that, at a minimum, Barr must recuse himself from anything to do with Mueller.

Media Matters — One employee noted that the MSM was concentrating on the government’s rhetoric about the wall and neglecting to cover the 800,000 workers affected by the shutdown . . . and he is correct.  It is also quite clear that the majority of furloughed employees do not agree with Trump’s actions, contrary to what Trump himself has said.  Trump doesn’t give a rat’s ass about anyone other than himself.  Oh, and as to Trump saying he would look foolish if he called off the shutdown now, he already looked foolish before the shutdown!

The New Yorker — Perhaps Kavanazi could use the beer cans to build a wall around Trump . . . until he moves from the White House to the Big House where the walls are extra thick and high.  Trump may whine about those walls.

Cartoon — I suspect that the NRA embarrassed itself with the association with the Russian, Butina, and as a result is trying to lay low.

  11. Thanks and frustrated hugs! 30

  12. The shutdown should never have happened in the first place! Now people are going without any income – and some of them have to work because they are in vital positions – when they have bills to pay and mouths to feed. Yard sales and Junior selling lemonade (who buys lemonade in January?) will reach only so far. Soon desperate parents will start dumpster-diving, stealing, or turning to the “oldest profession in the world.” Hungry kids will pester passers-by for alms – and many of those passers-by may be barely squeaking by themselves. I leave more developments to your imagination.
