Fleecing the Sheeple

Last night I watched Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten give his Oval Office speech.  The effect was extreme.  I filled all my barf bags, my trash cans, my pocket, and George, my artificial leg.  I was expecting him to declare a state of emergency.  He did not.  He regurgitated the same old tired lies.  I wondered what the point was until later.  Then I discovered what he was up to.  He was fleecing the sheeple.

President Trump doubled down on one of the biggest gambles of his presidency on Tuesday night with a televised appeal to pressure Congress into paying for his long-promised border wall, even at the cost of leaving the government partly closed until lawmakers give in.

Embarking on a strategy that he himself privately disparaged as unlikely to work, Mr. Trump devoted the first prime-time Oval Office address of his presidency to his proposed barrier in hopes of enlisting public support in an ideological and political conflict that has shut the doors of many federal agencies for 18 days.

In a nine-minute speech that made no new arguments but included multiple misleading assertions, the president sought to recast the situation at the Mexican border as a “humanitarian crisis” and opted against declaring a national emergency to bypass Congress, which he had threatened to do, at least for now. But he excoriated Democrats for blocking the wall, accusing them of hypocrisy and exposing the country to criminal immigrants.

Here is the complete list of everything valid, honest, or even decent Trump said:

[end of list]

If you wish to watch it, click here.  I did not include the video out of care for you.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Here is the response by Pelosi and Schumer.

They did a fair job of debunking Trump, but in addition to explaining why Trump is wrong, they should have explained how Democrats word provide border security without the wall.

Rachel Maddow added good analysis.

Why didn’t Pelosi or Schumer say that native born Americans commit crimes at a higher rate than undocumented immigrants?

But it was Lawrence O’Donnell that, in addition to providing more analysis, showed us that sheeple fleecing was Trump’s real goal.

And if he does not run in 2020,he gets to keep the money.

If you are one of the Republicans, who was stupid enough to donate to the so-called "Secure the Border Fund", bend over, grab your ankles, and say…

BAAA-A-A-A-A-A-A-A!!!

  1. I did not watch, he is bad for my blood pressure.

  2. Aw, jeez! Now George is going to be mad at you, and you’ll need him to go apartment hunting! Apologize to him immediately!

You know, that nose actually looks better on him than his real one. I never noticed before how ugly his nose is. I guess, since all of him is ugly, the nose didn’t register.

If they had three more minutes, and it looks like they did, yeah, they should have. Probably. If they were cut off at five (4:54 technically), they did reasonably well.

Probably everyone here already knows my opinion that Rachel and Lawrence are the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Among the numbers that show up on my Caller ID for calls I don’t answer, one claims to be the NRCC. Maybe I should pick up on those and 1) listen, 2) raise hell, 3) threaten to sue?

  3. I did not watch the video last night, but did today. Someone wrote that he lied every 34 seconds!! Wow!!
Lawrence O: I saw that dt was asking for $$, fundraising off his address, how low can one go? Yep, what a con!! Steve Schmidt said it all, imho.
Madame Speaker and Schumer did well on their speech afterwards. imho…the Dems won.

  4. This Pres.* Grifter can go lower than any of us think it is possible.  We will see.  I did not watch Grifter’s talk, but did see the response from Pelosi and Schumer, who were rather respectful in not calling out the B.S.

  5. Didn’t watch it, but heard enough about it today after I got home from my hand surgery. Like others mentioned, he lied so much that it’s truly disgraceful.
He supposedly flies to to visit the the border, somewhere tomorrow. Maybe we will be lucky and one of the so-called evil ones tRump is always speaking of, will kidnap him and take his away to nowhere land.

  6. Tuckituphisbuttson, as noted while at the gym, asked “Why won’t the Dems compromise on the wall?” The simple answer is that it is a bogus issue. What? so, they’ll compromise at giving him $3 billion, $1 billion, for what, a partial wall? A wall every alternate 500 feet?Besides, where are his so phenomenal “Art of the Deal” skills?

  7. After reading most comments on yesterday’s speech and sharing the general sense of disappointment emanating  from them: it was pointless, didn’t lead to anything, was highly predictable in the amount of lies and disinformation and, worse of all, it wasn’t entertaining or terribly enraging, I came across this opinion piece in AustralianBC News: Donald Trump isn’t partial to facts — and he can’t be beaten by them by Emma Shortis

    Here are some quotes:

Mr Trump knows he’s lying. He doesn’t care. His supporters know he’s lying. They don’t care either.

There’s no indication that’s going to change any time soon. Brandishing “facts” at the President like a weapon simply doesn’t work.

    and:

Mr Trump suggested again that in America, rich, successful people build walls not “because they hate the people on the outside but because they love the people on the inside”. Does anyone really believe that as a “fact”? Rich people build walls because they’re afraid of the people outside. Mostly, they’re afraid of other Americans outside of their walls. Many of whom have guns.

Mr Trump was trying, once again, to shift that fear onto a vulnerable and undeserving group of people.

    to close off with:

It’s not even clear that worked, this time.

Mr Trump hasn’t convinced House Democrats, or those ambivalent Americans.

So the President will once again retreat to his base. He’ll return to his enclave in the White House or Mar-a-Lago, read the bad reviews and rail that he didn’t want to do it anyway, it was his advisers who led him astray. Enraged yet again, he will lash out — in who-knows-what direction.

    The cycle continues.

    A few hours ago

Donald Trump walks out of border wall meeting, prolonging government shutdown

I think Emma Shortis is spot on in her analysis.

  8. No way, not watching it!!!  ? ?

  9. Thanks, sleepy hugs and 09Amen.
