It’s a very cold day with a high wind warning.  I slept poorly due to stress.  It’s a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are bi this week so may the Orb shine it’s Blessed light on your team.  It’s also a Wendy day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:04 (average 6:11).  To do it, click here.  How did you so?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (SNL Channel): Jeff Sessions Farewell Cold Open

KKK Beauregard must be thinking those exact things. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: How Blue States Help Red States

The Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right, but the real unjust welfare is the welfare we pay to billionaires. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: \Tremendous news! Late on Saturday night, after the latest batch of votes to be counted extended his lead, the Associated Press called the race in California’s 48th Congressional District for Democrat Harley Rouda. With this win, Rouda has defeated none other than Dana Rohrabacher, the Republican best known as “Putin’s favorite congressman,” thanks to an embarrassing affinity for Russian autocracy matched only by Donald Trump’s.

Rouda’s victory gives Democrats their 35th flip (and 33rd net gain) of the 2018 midterms, and with seven races still uncalled, more pickups are looming. Rohrabacher’s loss also cements a profound shift in Orange County, which for the better part of a century had been the blood-red citadel of California conservatism. But like many other affluent and well-educated suburban areas around the country, it reacted with great hostility to Trump, and now voters there are punishing his abettors in the Republican Party. May this trend continue to spread.

Amen! RESIST!!

  1. 5:09 Jeez – the pachypodium the other day was already more than spiky enough.

    Open Letter to RBG interns

SNL – As funny as that was, it left me sad. Am I losing it?

Reich – Yes, the billionaire welfare is more painful. But this money transferring makes me, at least, angrier. The billionaires at least know what they are getting and shut up about it. The red state screams are infuriating.

DKos – I realize Issa resigned, but still, getting his seat, Rohrabacher’s, and Hunter’s seems like a trifecta to me. I’m consoling myself about Nunes by telling myself at least he’ll be easy to find to investigate.

    Cartoon – Well, of course!

    • This from DFA:

“If there’s one clear message from Democratic victories in 2018, it’s that the future of the Democratic Party lies with the candidates, campaigns, and voters of the New American Majority leading the fight for multi-racial inclusive populism.”

Now if only the actual Party gets that message.

  2. Of course the tRump regime wants to categorize more public aid as “welfare” because the word welfare has a negative connotation in many people’s minds. To a lot of folks, it means lazy bums mooching off the working class – even when only 1% of families receive it. The irony – and hypocrisy – of red states taking more from the Feds than they contribute is shocking, especially when the liberal blue states get less than they give. Who are the moochers now?

  3. SNL: Kate is so talented, acting as Sessions, I know the toilet paper will be treasured by ‘Jeff’….

    RR: Excellent video.

DK: I read about this, it’s great news for the win of Harley Rouda! and California!! YAY!

    Cartoon: Of course!!

Hi, WWWendy!! We’re bi this week too. It’s supposed to be chilly here with rain coming in. Supposed to be in the 30’s by Monday night. Bundle up, and get your rest, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “What is it called when the President of the United States refuses to go to the cemetery to honor Fallen Soldiers because of a little rain? The Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier stand in all weather.” ~ Bob C. ~

#2. “Trump is lunching with Putin to celebrate Veteran’s Day. If that’s not a slap in the face to Veterans, and to all Americans, I don’t know what is.” ~ Grant D. ~

  4. A windy Wendy day ?

  5. SNL: Bye Jeffie, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
RRC: “Us and them,” is how demagogues get to power, stay in power, and increase their power.  The fools who vote RED, have no idea how Drumpfy plays them, how he loves their “uneducated” beings!
DK: Say, Dana, did you hear what I said to Jeffie boy?  More coming is special!!
‘Toon: He who is allowed to make the definitions is the one who has/takes power!

  6. SNL: I keep trying, but:

RR: America is becoming more divided into two countries by the day, one red and one blue. And for now the richer blue country doesn’t mind paying for the welfare of the poor red country, but if the red country, well really the white near-minorities, keeps complaining, playing victim and trying to grab power even though it is the minority, this may come to an end. Only then to find out that both red and blue states have been duped by the 1% and nothing is left for welfare for either colour.

DK: Ooops, Dana Rohrabacher was already on Alternet’s list of Ten Notorious Republican Villains Who Lost Their Elections Tuesday on the 7th, so I forgot all about his existence. I do hope there were not more of these premature calls, they’re rather unsettling. Now I only want to hear of Tracy Abrams’ win and good news from Florida.

    • I’m afraid there are more.  AZ (good vibes) and MS (not-so-good vibes) to name just two.  Actually, I’m delighted due diligence is being done, even if the Repubs are being dragged kicking and screaming.  It should have been done long ago (18 years, for instance.)

  7. SNL:  So good and I agree Kate is very talented.  She plays all her rolls so well.
RR:  Again Robert Reich is spot on.  Sadly I live in one of the red states.
DK:  We will miss Rohrabacher so.  Not!!!  Now if Stacy Abrams, Gillum, and nelson pull off a win, I’ll be a happy woman.

  8. WRT all the recounts adding more and more Democrats, if there’s one thing we learned from the 2000 Bush-Gore fiasco with SCOTUS literally putting Dubya in the Oval Office:

    Don’t Give Up

    Don’t Give In

    Don’t Give an Inch

    AND COUNT EVERY DAMN VOTE!

  9. SNL: Was good. Agree with others that Katie played Sessions very well.
RR: Liked it. I agree with Joanne and Lona’s comments.Sick of the bILlionaires getting richer.
Agree with JL that CA has paid way more into taxes. Now we need help due to all wild fires and the bas*ard tRump is threatening to not help. He should be showing affection, something he doesn’t seem to know much of, for all that have loss their homes and other businesses. He’s a shameful heartless creep that shouldn’t be in the position he currently holds.
    Cartoon: Ain’t that the truth!

  10. Thanks all.  Feeling crappy hugs! 01

  11. Puzzle — 4:27  Change the name of the plant to Pest Control for Republicans!

Robert Reich — This is a long known fact that blue states provide more revenue than red states.  Just thinking out loud . . . I truly wonder what the makeup of the Congress would look like if it was based on dollars contributed to the overall country.

Daily Kos — Has anyone thought to give Rohrabacher a one way non stop ticket to Moscow, RU (not Idaho or any other Moscow!) as a retirement gift?!  Kudos to Dems who were able to flip 35 seats while only losing 2 in the House to Republicans.  The Senate . . . that is a different story but it is an opportunity to  build on the successes in the House in 2018.

Cartoon — Ain’t that the truth for Republicans!  I see this morning that Diaper Don is calling for a halt to the recounts in Florida.  You can bet if it were Republicans requesting the recounts, he’d be singing a different tune.

Well, the frost sure was on the pumpkin this morning!  Temps dropped to just below freezing last night but no wind and no snow.
