WWWendy is due in 45 minutes to scrub and deodorize the TomCat.  We have lots of work ahead, including the dreaded task.  It’s a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, but my meditation will be abbreviated, because my Broncos already played.  Therefore, may the Orb bless your team, whoever they are.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:22 (average 3:54).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MoveOn Channel): What We’re Voting For

These are the things for which Democrats are voting. Republicans are voting for hate, greed, bigotry, abuse of power, racism, homophobia, misogyny, disrespect to allies, honor to enemies, sexually attacking women, and, of course, even more welfare for the 1%. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Robert Reich: Message to Millennials

Of course the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. However, I don’t know any millennials. If you do, would you please pass this on? RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From NY Times: A wide range of evidence indicates that Democratic voters are poised to vote in numbers unseen in a midterm election in at least a decade.

Democrats have largely erased the turnout deficit that hobbled them during the Obama presidency, according to results from more than 50 New York Times Upshot/Siena College polls of the most competitive House battleground districts.

Democrats may even be poised to post higher turnout than Republicans, a rarity, in many relatively white suburban districts on Nov. 6.

But it’s not clear if this blue turnout surge will extend much further, particularly among young and nonwhite voters. Whether Democrats turn out broadly could make the difference between a fairly close fight for control of the House and sweeping Democratic gains of 40 or more seats.

Have you voted? If so you aren’t done. Try to make sure everyone you know votes. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. 4:20 So they had a bonfire there for Queen Vic’s 60th. Just as in Appalachia, and in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, apparently geographical barriers nudged the “West Country” to keep an older linguistic standard (some say the language of King Alfrd’s court.) In all those places, though, that’s sadly dead or dting. It really can’t be kept pure while using a smartphone.

MoveOn – This is one of the things they do best – inspire people, and in particular inspire people to inspire other people.

RR – I was brought up that voting was an important rite of passage to adulthood – and voting every time was important to continue to be a responsible adult. That is not a difficult message for a parent or guardian to instill. I wish more would.

NYT – It’s a long ballot and I haven’t gotten all the way through it yet. But I won’t be late with it, I promise.

Cartoon – Except that isn’t really a gamble. It’s a sure thing. Like death.

  2. Millennials had better get their arses to the polls, or this nation will be stuck on an unstoppable careen towards fascism and oppression.
The Cartoon is the truth – except for the <1% ultra-rich.

  3. MO: Good video. Right on!! VOTE!!!

RR: The ones that I know are voting, and are BLUE! This also includes Centennials, who are over 18. Get out and vote!!

NYT: Good information here. Everyone needs to heed the call !!

    Cartoon: Yep!

Hi, WWWendy! Hope that you have a good rest of your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Hey!.. Non-voters!!! This is your mother here. Once Trump takes my health care, SS, and retirement savings, I’m moving in with you.” ~ Domansky F ~

  4. MoveOn: love their ads and dedication.
RR: I wish more people paid attention to Robert Reich. He is very good! A Treasure!
NYT: I surely hope so! Get out and VOTE! I voted by absentee ballot for the first time. Had the time to do so. It was “painless”. lol.
    Cartoon: Ain’t that the truth.

  5. MoveOn: You Bet!RRC: My youngest son is Generation X, or Millennial, depending on who is counting.  He and his wife are now in Virginia, WHERE THEY WILL VOTE!!NYT: The voter turnout in Nevada is already huge, on the Dem side, in early turnout!!
Also in: The Turks have said that Khashoggi was accosted by 15 folk shortly after he arrived, was beaten, tortured, beheaded and his body dismembered.  My wife heard that the 15 were specifically flown in for the express purpose of murder.  Dumpy, as stated previously, can not be trusted to even tell you what the date is!
‘Toon: WE need to take a bigly hammer to that frigging machine!

  6. MO: Like the video.
RR: He certainly knows what he’s taking about. I also was brought up to vote.
NYT: Definitely. We must all get out there and vote.
    Cartoon: Oh so very true.

  7. I’m voting to save our country from fascists.

It might well be our last chance …

  8. MO: Excellent, above all POSITIVE video. It inspires hope, not hatred, therefore it is progressive, and not Republican, by default.

Robert Reich: As always a great video addressing millennials in a very appropriate way. But your remark:” I don’t know any millennials”, made me realize that points to a global problem, TomCat. There’s a great gap between millennials and our generation everywhere. Many of us do not know (m)any millennials besides grandchildren. Not that these generations communicated well/much about politics in the past – the times when older generations were considered wise is long past – but things have deteriorated even further when social media made their entrance. Time for debate was over. So I wondered if millennials would pay much attention to the messages of older people like Robert Reich and Elizabeth Warren, no matter how good their messages are? Bernie could reach a number of them, but he had a presidential campaign platform to broadcast his ideas and even then to few millennials voted to keep Drumpf from “winning”. Brexit was the result of the same indifference by millennials.
I hope the Parkland students have had enough sponsoring to have some more ads especially for young voters aired.

NYT: That supported my point above, I think.

Cartoon: Gerrymandering and voter suppression has certainly rigged those machine. They only pay out to Republicans.

  9. MO: I love Move On.org.  They do so much good and because of that I am heavily involved with them.  Video shared

Robert Reich:  I agree Lona.  I too wish more people would listen to him.  Video shared.

NYT:  Great information.  We must get out and vote plus bring a friend. Article shared

    Cartoon:  Spot on!

  10. Thanks and burned-out hugs. 19

  11. Puzzle — 3:52 A beautiful, relaxing view!

MoveOn — AMEN!!! As Lona says “… POSITIVE video. It inspires hope, not hatred, therefore it is progressive, and not Republican, by default.”

Robert Reich — AMEN!!!  Vote like your life depends on it because it does!!!  Millennials and younger have the most to lose by not voting! What’s more, this is applicable to every country, not just the US. I am going to hold on to this as 2019 is election year again in Canada.

NY Times — It has always been true — if you don’t vote then you are part of the problem! Now more than ever before. On the news this afternoon, I heard that Diaper Don is talking about a middle class tax break. Whatever people do, do NOT believe him! It is all talk . . . a sucker punch to the middle class! He might talk about it but a vote in Congress will not come up until after the midterms, if at all.  If Diaper Don and the Republicans succeed in hoodwinking the middle class voters to not vote, or worse still vote Republican so that they maintain the House, there will be no vote on the legislation for middle class tax breaks! McTurtle has already got social security, Medicare and Medicaid in the crosshairs. Republicans don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone except the 1% . . . greed and power!

Cartoon — And the Republican health care slot machine is rigged . . . you LOSE! As Alan Grayson said several years ago while discussing the Republican health care plan:

    “Part one, don’t get sick.

Part two, if you do get sick…

    Part three, die quickly.”
