It’s a warm muggy day here in the CatBox, and I had to button-up and start the AC at 11:30.  I’m hurrying,as I have a few chores to finish.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:32 (average 5:13).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Kudos to Pam for leading the league.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (CNN Channel): Hillary Clinton: Lewinsky affair was not abuse of power

I’m a progressive Democrat, and I know that’s pure unadulterated bullshit! Any boss-employee affair, consenting or not, is an abuse of power, let alone when the boss is President of the US. If Hillary is going to stand-up for the Republican #HIMTOO movement, she needs to shut the fuck up and go away, before her gross hypocrisy hurts us in the midterms! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From YouTube (NY Times Channel): Is President Trump Fascist?

Here comes Godwin’s Law. Godwin’s Law is a common meme used by Republicans, other fascists, pseudo-intellectuals, and people with their heads in the sand or in smellier places, whenever anyone points out the verifiable commonalities between today’s Republican Party and Germany’s National Socialist Party, before Hitler became dictator. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Daily Kos: On Sunday night, President Donald Trump appeared on 60 Minutes for an interview with Lesley Stahl. The interview attempted to cover a gamut of important topics, from climate change (Trump still isn’t convinced), to the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, to Trump’s friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un. As is the norm with the president’s interactions with the press, he shared few policy specifics but revealed much about his character.

Disturbingly, Trump doubled down on a speech he gave at a rally in Mississippi earlier this month, in which he ruthlessly mocked Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony. Dr. Blasey Ford participated in a public hearing during then Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process to testify about the sexual assault she alleges she suffered at the hands of Kavanaugh in the 1980s.

Trump clarified that he believes this speech helped Kavanaugh become confirmed as a Supreme Court justice, literally saying, “Had I not made that speech, we would not have won.”

Now, I’m mocking Trump, because he deserves it. May we win in November. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. 5:01 Brown sugar isn’t something arcane – it’s just white sugar with added molasses. So if you want chewy cookies short the white sugar (I’d start with a tablespoon or so) and fill in the same amount of molasses. Then you won’t end up storing a brown sugar rock forever.

I think we all could use a completely silly, non-political belly laugh.

This could make the difference for the Senate for us

Hillary – Yes. She should have stayed out of this one. Granted there’s a difference, she didn’t get the difference right, and she’s too close to it to be convincing even if she had. Sigh.

NYT – They have been ve-wy qui-et about Godwin’s Law lately. And, of course, this is why.

DKos – I believe this is the interview in which he interrupted her with “I’m President, and you’re not”? (To which, of course, the ONLY acceptable reply is some variant of “Yes, you are an elected official, and therefore YOU WORK FOR ME.”)

    Cartoon – tee hee.

  2. Anybody who isn’t scared after watching that video has no idea what the hell is going on. It is a must-watch for anybody and everybody who believes in freedom and justice! Of course the reich-wingers will invoke Godwin’s law, but in this case it is a smokescreen. You cannot fight evil unless you know what makes it tick – and when it is ticking.

  3. CNN: Silence is golden, and in this case, I agree, she should have.

NYT: Good video. I’m passing this one on too.

DK: I watched parts of this when it was televised. I admire Lesley Stahl asking him questions, and remaining calm throughout. I’d have been the complete opposite.

Cartoon: Awww….what an adorable puddy tat.

Congrats on your winning, alongside of Patty M., and Pam. It’s cold as hell here, lol, and will rain all weeklong. The FM 2900 bridge over the Llano River in Kingsland, Tx., has collapsed due to flooding. 147mi. from my house. NW.

Hope that you have a great evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Since Trump calls Senator Warren ‘Pocohantas’, I think she should call him ‘Pinocchio’. ~ Shawn D. ~

*Joanne, I love this grandma. Her laughing is infectious!! Great video, Thanks for posting. 40 20

  4. YouTube: Hillary: Monica Lewinsky affair. Yes! I agree that Hillary should “Shut-Up about this.” Could not believe this “affair” has been brought up again. Old news. Done and over. Should have been “GONE!”

Then, there is the story about the Clinton’s defending Bush 2. Not sure of it all. Maybe someone could enlighten me on it. I’m just too tired to look it up.

YouTube: Is President Trump Fascist? “YES!” with the help of the GOP. Enough said.

KOS: Watched part of it and decided to skip it once Drumpf said, ” “I’m President, and you’re not”?” I really dislike his mug all over the place as he continuously spreads disinformation on just about everything these days.Mostof us normal people know that Drumpf is such a pathological liar. Too bad that Drmpf’s base does not understand what he truly is. sigh…

TC said it right, “the ONLY acceptable reply is some variant of “Yes, you are an elected official, and therefore YOU WORK FOR ME.”)” Thanks for that lovely and correct snappy comeback. lol. sigh…

Cartoon: “Balanced perspective”. Any out there…? Where…?

  5. CNN: When will she ever learn? We do get sick of hearing about all of the same old news.YT: Good video. tRump fascist?..a definite Yes.DK: It was a flipping joke watching tRump make himself look even more stupid than he is. He wouldn’t allow her to finish asking her questions once, interrupting her even second she spoke. Despicable idiot. Oh well, what did we really expect from the biggest liar in the world?Glad to see that you’re doing so well with your fantasy football. Maybe the Broncos will pick up your luck next weekend.Take care. Thanks TomCat

  6. CNN: I’m sorry, but Hillary is fast becoming a liability to the Democrats.
NYTimes Channel: “The founders of the school of thought out of which Fascism has grown all have certain common characteristics. They seek the good in WILL rather than in feeling or cognition; they value POWER more than happiness; they prefer force to argument, war to peace; aristocracy to democracy; propaganda to scientific impartiality.” Bertrand Russell, in a collection of essays, called “In Praise of Idleness.”
Totalitarian narrative has no need of facts. They are beside the point. Like other ideas that aspire to ‘total explanation’, the narrative pretends ‘to know beforehand everything that experience may still have in store’. Armed with omniscient knowledge of the ‘true’ cause for all events, believers are relieved of their sense of insecurity. Here, at last, is a consistent explanation for everything. Totalitarian ideas emancipate their believers from reality: their worth lies in presenting a coherent absolute narrative of the world, which, as Arendt noted in Origins, is ‘more adequate to the needs of the human mind than reality itself’. Experience is irrelevant: there is nothing new to be learned about the situation. The idea of a Jewish world conspiracy was once made to seem more true than reality by the Nazis, who simply acted ‘as though the world were dominated by the Jews and needed a counterconspiracy to defend itself’. Truth is simply not as relevant as what seems to be the truth.
DK: ANY interview with this clown is going to be hijacked by his twisted sense of reality, which combines with his phenomenal capacity for manipulation, to create a sh*t storm of propaganda!

  7. What’s the deal w/ all the “500 Internal Server Errors” instead of graphics?

“How to Geek” says it’s a website problem, and “not a problem with your browser, your computer, or your internet connection. It’s a problem with the site you’re trying to visit” – so there’s nothing an individual can do.
    https://www.howtogeek.com/305093/what-is-a-500-internal-server-error-and-how-do-i-fix-it/
Maybe they’ll go away by tomorrow.

  8. CNN: Undoubtedly America and the world would have been better off with Hillary as president, but Hillary had the chance, twice as a matter of fact, and last time she was admittedly the worst, i.e. unpopular Democratic candidate ever. With Drumpf being the worst Republican candidate AND worst president in history, we tend to forget that and also that Hillary was so unpopular because she represented the old Democratic elite which kept some progressives from going to the polls, or voting for an alternative. There’s a reason Drumpf/the GOP keep bringing up Hillary which is she represents failure, even to some Democrats. It is time for Hillary to step aside, shut up, fade into the background and leave the Democratic party to progressives, if that’s what needed to win the next election.

NYT: Only yesterday I referred to the Hitlerjugend in my comment, so I don’t think I need any more convincing by Jason Stanley, that fascism is on the rise all over the world, including, and most dangerously of all, America. And yes, as  the daughter of a Jewish Holocaust survivor, I am afraid.

DK: As we all knew, it wasn’t about the truth, it was all about winning. With Drumpf it is always only about him winning. So be prepared, before the 8th of November Drumpf may still have something up his sleeve to distract Democrats  to try and have the Republicans hold on to the House. A war with Iran perhaps?

Glad it wasn’t PP which was hacked, or a virus on my computer, but YouTube having gone down that caused the weird Monkey graphics, TomCat.

  9. Puzzle — 4:32  Sweets for the sweet???

CNN — I don’t know why this had to come up.  Was it linked to the Kavanazi debacle?  If so, they are not the same.  Clinton/Lewinsky is history now and Clinton is retired.  Kavanazi was a candidate for SCOTUS, a current position which demands absolute integrity which he does not have.  As too Hillary saying there was no abuse of power, I disagree.  She needs to shut up about it.

NY Times — Excellent piece.  There is no doubt in my mind that fascism is on the rise globally, and especially in the US with Diaper Don.  The fascists use a culture of fear, and DD is no different.  In Bob Woodward’s new book “Fear”, he quotes Diaper Don (Drumpf) as saying on 31/03/16 “Real power is — I don’t even want to use the word — fear.”  And that is exactly what he was and continues to do today, separating people, sowing divisions using fear.  And guess what, that is exactly what Hitler did!

Daily Kos — DD has shit for brains and is a manipulative SOB.  Stahl did a good job but Diaper Don is still Diaper Don, a lying narcissist.  May he be shown the front of the unemployment line so he knows what to look for in 2020.

    Cartoon — What a cutie!

I’m very short on time but just to let you know that I sent you some really good Canadian baked beans.  I had them for dinner last night!

  10. Thanks all.  Pooped Hump Day Hugs! 19
