Last night Rachel Maddow interviewed Hillary Clinton on a wide variety of subjects, and you deserve to see it.  I found the complete interview, but it is not from MSNBC, so, in case it is removed,  I’m also sharing three shorter clips that are from MSNBC.  If the first is still there, you can ignore the rest.

  1. Orange Judas destroyed any entitlement to “benefit of the doubt” even before he was inaugurated. But it certainly isn’t just him. Looking back, it appears to me that the current “erosion of democracy” started the day the Voting Rights Act was signed into law. It’s as if the very, very rich will allow real people to have some democratic toys, but whenever the pendulum seems to be swinging too far, they will start pushing it back. We achieved Social Security, Medicare, The Environmental Protection Agency, Civil Rights, and Voting Rights, and that was too much. That triggered the reaction. And that is what we see happening all over the world. I canot believe that real Swedes, real Danes, living in Socialist democracies, are unhappy. But I absolutely believe in armies of apparently ordinary people, financially or politically corrupted (or both), making it look like that.

I think this has happened over and over throughout history, and I think this graphic, drawn from “The Open Society and its Enemies” by Karl R. Popper, illustrates, not why, but how it is done. (Here’s a link to a Spanish version)

    RESIST AND PERSIST!

    • SO SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!
“I think this has happened over and over throughout history….”  I am reading “The Clock of the Long Now, Time and Responsibility,” by Stewart Brand, he of “The Whole Earth Catalog.”  His makes a point about our need to keep the long past in mind, so that we can mine it for patterns, as in things that have “happened over and over throughout history, and garner wisdom therefrom.
I am sorry Hillary did not get elected.  Had she dons, the GOPIGS would probably have given her just as hard a time as they gave Pres. Obama, unless she brought enough Dems into congress to give her at least one section of congress.

  2. I’m still watching,(listening), and it is so refreshing to see two women discussing the facts, intelligently. Yes, we all are in troublesome times with the ID in the WH. Great post.

    *Good graphic, Joanne!!!

  3. I only wish Hillary had been President!

Instead we got a buffoon courtesy of the electoral college.

    sigh…
    .

  4. If the US valued each citizens vote equally, she would have been your president now!

i respect her cool unemotional factual way of speaking, she didn’t refer to her bigly IQ once in the entire interview!

  5. The late Sen. Robert Byrd may have been late in coming to acknowledging the errors of his ways, but we can be thankful at least he did WRT believing Anita Hill and voting against Clarence Thomas:

Here, the words of then-Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.) are relevant — and persuasive. Byrd took to the Senate floor in October 1991 to explain why he was withdrawing his initial support for Thomas and would vote against him.

“No individual has a particular right to a Supreme Court seat,” Byrd said. “. . . If we are going to give the benefit of the doubt, let us give it to the court. Let us give it to the country.”

As this mess plays out, the Byrd test seems like the right one for honest senators to keep in mind.

Today, once again, a true patriot will give the “Benefit of the doubt to the court and to the country” – and vote AGAINST Kavanaugh!

  6. Thanks, hugs and Amen to all. 04

  7. Sorry, I’ve been very crook for two days, as they say Down Under, and not up to commenting. Will watch this not-to-miss interview tomorrow, if I can get to it here.
