Not too much has changed in the status of Trump’s fellow pervert, Kava-Nazi.  He and Blasey are scheduled for a hearing on Monday.  “Judge”, the pervert’s friend, should be called as a witness, since Blasey says he was there.  Since the pervert claims he was not even at the party, other attendees should be located to see if any remember him being there.  Blasey’s therapist and husband should be called to testify that she has been feeling the effects of the attempted rape for years.  However, Upchuck Snake in the Grassley [R-IA] is doing none of these things.  Republicans want to make it a “he said-she said” like Anita Hill’s hearing about Pervert Thomas.  Here’s the perspective of people who specialize in sexual assault.

Soon after Christine Blasey Ford was revealed as the author of a letter alleging that Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her decades ago, the responses ran along predictable lines. While some argued that she should be heard, others questioned how much of her memory can be trusted.

Amid a spate of speculation, The Washington Post published an exclusive account of the assault Saturday evening, identifying Ford. Kavanaugh issued a statement Sunday denying the accusations, but after heated pushback from politicians and the public, Kavanaugh agreed to questioning by the Senate panel Monday. A second hearing, where Kavanaugh and Ford will both testify publicly, is scheduled for next week. The results threaten to thwart his confirmation.

Critics of Ford have taken to calling into question whether it’s possible for a 30-year-old memory to be credible.

Sex crimes prosecutors across the country forge ahead on “he-said-she-said” cases regularly.

“I stand to believe there’s no such thing as a ‘he-said-she-said’ case,” Linda Fairstein, former chief of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s Sex Crimes Bureau, told The Post. “As a prosecutor, it’s your job to break down every minute of the encounter so that details on one side pushes the facts over the edge.”

Prosecutors do that regularly, in large part by parsing what’s reasonable and what’s believable through corroboration, details that have the ring of truth and inconvenient facts that are subtle signs of credibility.

Ford’s account is credible, even though she can’t remember several details.

There’s no criminal trial, but Kavanaugh still has the presumption of innocence, said attorney Douglas Wigdor, a former prosecutor who now represents victims in sexual harassment and sexual assault cases against high-profile men… [emphasis original]

Inserted from <Washington Post>

I disagree with one point.  The presumption of innocence is particular to criminal proceedings and conformation is not a criminal matter.  A seat on the Supreme Court should require the highest standard of blamelessness, not the highest standard of guilt.  A Supreme Court appointee must be above reproach.  Even the slightest hint of reprobate behavior must disqualify.

On a final note, there should be more FBI investigation.  When Feinstein referred the letter to the FBI, they had already closed the investigation.  They could only reopen it, if the White House requested it.  That’s why they just appended it and passed it on.  It’s also why they can’t do it now.  The White House refuses to make the request, because they know what the FBI would find.  More to come…

  1. I’ve often wonder why there are so many “perverts” in the Republican Party… sigh…
    .

  2. Ok, I’m going to quote from THIS because it constitutes expert opinion – wisdom from someone with years of experience evaluating specifically rape cases.

Were there ever false allegations? Yes, about once a year, they had to investigate a false report. They took all reports seriously, but the false reports tended to unravel pretty quickly under scrutiny. It was never what’s in the “rape culture apologist” toolkit. It wasn’t that the accuser had no proof (although she didn’t). It wasn’t that the accuser was deemed “to have asked for it” or “a jilted ex” although the latter did emerge as a motive in one case. It was really just police interrogation 101.

You ask the person open-ended questions, then you press for details. “Is there anyone who saw you leave the party together?” you might ask. Assault victims don’t remember details like that — especially if they were intoxicated at the time. “I don’t know… maybe” said with frustration and sometimes tears was a typical answer. False accusers had a detailed explanation of why no one saw them and the accused leave that party together. When pressed for details, they would have them. “You left through the back door, but that where people gather to smoke. No one was smoking?” They have a reason why there were no smokers loitering at the back door at that exact time….

My wife’s hot take on the allegation against Kavanaugh is that they are completely credible and authentic. Her take on the story is actually quite chilling:

He locked the door. He turned up the music to cover the sound of a struggle. He put his hand over her mouth to silence her. He was too drunk to be thinking methodically. He’d done this before. He did it again.

There’s more to the article than just these highlights. All emphasis here is mine, but there are other points which are emphasis-worthy.

  3. More and more, “pervert Republican” is becoming a tautology.

  4. Kavanaugh cannot be nominated to the SC. He lied when he denied the allegations, do we want a shady character on the court?? He has two young daughters!! for gawd’s sake, what kind of role model is he??? to them? Kudos to Dr. Ford for standing up and speaking out!

Nita, I feel your pain, I really do. Stay Blessed! I’m a Survivor too, and We never Forget!

  5. [1] How can Kavanaugh claim he wasn’t there when Dr. Ford hasn’t yet mentioned a date?

[2] WRT “Innocent until proven guilty” – I think Dr. Ford’s husband puts it very well:

“I think you look to judges to be the arbiters of right and wrong,” Russell Ford said. “If they don’t have a moral code of their own to determine right from wrong, then that’s a problem. So I think it’s relevant. Supreme Court nominees should be held to a higher standard.”

[3] WRT Twitler claiming the FBI doesn’t want to investigate the allegation because it’s “Not their thing.”

Not to get all pedantic about it, Twitler – but it’s RIGHT THERE IN THEIR NAME:

Federal Bureau of INVESTIGATION … you twit!

  6. Coming from another angle, a judge who believes that the president, or anyone, is ABOVE the law, has an issue with one of the GOPIG’s one time favorite issues:personal responsibility.  Of course, that was personal responsibility for every one but them!  So, why would I not expect him to lie, under oath, or elsewhere?
On another hand, anyone Dumpy would pick, of whatever position, is, by definition bigly suspect!
Coming out of, or through, the G.W.bush administration, this clown is just the kind of thing I said, decades ago, was going to haunt us for decades, as a result of having had the previously dumbest president ever.  Kavanazi is part of the Bush legacy.

  7. In the weeks before Dr. Ford’s allegations came to our attention, there already were a myriad of reason mentioned why Kavanaugh should absolutely not be appointed to SCOTUS. None of those things, including perjury during his hearings for his current seat as judge, was enough to keep Republicans from voting him in. On the contrary, it only made him more desirable as a Republican justice on SCOTUS, and Republicans kept thousands and thousands of pages of documentation under lock and key to prevent any of it coming out in public. Even Dr. Ford’s testimony next week may not be enough to stop Republicans from pushing Kavanaugh to this seat on a bench which had meaning at some time.

Of course I also hope that Dr. Ford’s testimony, at the cost of her career and personal integrity, will change the mind of some and Kavanaugh is out on his ear with a broken reputation. But then it will be very sad to see that it took the courage of one woman, who made such a great personal sacrifice, to refrain Republicans from ruining the justice system for years to come, and all his other failings and reasons why this man should not be appointed will be forgotten.

  8. The graphic at the top needs a barf bag alert!!!  Those two deserve to be locked up together!

Republicans do one thing very well . . . LIE!  They lied by omission about Kavanazi’s background by not giving all the information from Kavanazi’s file to Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, and what they did provide was at the last minute so the Democrats could not read and analyse the material before the hearing started.

Republicans claim family values.  They lie.

They claim their religious liberties are being threatened.  They lie.

They  . . . never mind.  They lie.  They want SCOTUS stacked with conservative jurists so they can have their cake and eat it too.

Kavanazi needs to go the way of the dodo bird, permanently.  I sincerely hope that Ms Ford can make that happen.

  9. Today Sen. Graham said the committee should not wait for Ford’s testimony, which is just a stalling tactic. Committee Chairman Sen. Grassley agreed and plans to move forward without delay. Sen. Grassley said, “Dr. Ford’s testimony would reflect her personal knowledge and memory of events. Nothing the FBI or any other investigator does would have any bearing on what Dr. Ford tells the committee, so there is no reason for any further delay.”

I disagree with this position, but Republicans have majority, so unless the White House tells the FBI to re-open its background investigation on Kavanaugh, the hearings will continue without Dr. Ford’s testimony. The Republicans are going to play hard ball on this, because they are afraid the mid-term elections might change their majority position, which I hope it does. Events changing hourly, stay tuned.

    • As I was writing the above comment Sen. Grassley released a letter to Dr, Ford inviting her to appear in front of the committee Monday. Grassley said there would be no FBI investigation before her appearance and the Senate has no power to order the FBI to do an investigation. Grassley said, the hearings will go forward without delay. Grassley did offer to have a private staff meeting with Dr, Ford without cameras present, before Monday. Events changing hourly, stay tuned.

  10. Ms Ford will be smeared, Kavanaugh will be appointed.  I wish I did not believe this, but I do.

  11. Thanks and busy hugs to all!  26
