Yesterday was such a busy day that I got to bed late and did not get enough sleep, so I’m quite tired.  It’s a cool day, but it’s sunny enough that I’ll need to button-up by mid afternoon.  OGIM!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 5:11 (average 6:37).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Religious Ecstasy:

What a last seconds relief!  It would have been really glum, had the lost because a couple zebras, who seemed to have Raider patches on their eyes, cost them two TDs!

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Parody Project Channel): ODE TO A LIAR – Parody of I Never Say

Brilliant, Don! There has never been a bigger liar than Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: Millions of Americans do not want Donald J. Trump to text them that there is an emergency, but “very strongly” want Robert Mueller to text them when this current emergency is over, a new poll shows.

fema’s about-to-be-launched “Presidential alert” system drew a sharply negative reaction in the poll, with a majority of Americans saying that they would burn, smash, or otherwise pulverize their phones in advance of the first text that Trump attempts to send them.

By contrast, and by a wide margin, Americans said that they wanted an alert system that would enable Mueller to text them “the second he knows this shit show is over,” the poll indicates.

Dang Andy!! This year would be nice! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From NY Times: It’s not the smokestacks that mark this part of southeast Michigan as a labor stronghold, or even the boxy union halls.

To Michelle LaVoy, a city treasurer running for the State Legislature, it’s the way people say “union” as shorthand for “decent job.”

“My husband works at Yanfeng,” Carolina Ricci, perched outside her front door, told Ms. LaVoy, referring to a nearby auto parts plant. “He’s got the union, he’s a steward. But we still struggle.”

Ms. LaVoy, strait-laced in affect and business casual in dress, doesn’t present as a working-class hero. But she is trying, hard, and her pitch has a distinctly Norma Rae vibe.

“We should be getting our fair share,” Ms. LaVoy told Ms. Ricci, echoing a refrain that many Americans are using this election year. She wants more money for roads. More money for unions. More money in workers’ paychecks.

Amen Michelle LaVoy!!  Democrats need to run on what their OWN constituents need, in addition to opposing Republican policies. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. 6:48 I would have thought, the way the Scots hate Traitor Tot, they would have estopped us from displaying their flag by now.

“The Comité Cerezo, a human rights organization based in Mexico City, is asking Alliance for Global Justice supporters to show international solidarity by signing this open letter to Mexico’s president-elect Manuel Lopez Obrador. It is especially appropriate that those of us who live in the United States sign, given that our taxes are paying for police militarization and prison construction throughout Mexico.”
We were recently discussing this – now here’s a chance to put our names where our comments are.

    PP – Yup!

TNY – There is a lot of back story to this story which is not being told but should be. Don’t be fooled!

NYT – Excellent. And I’m SO glad there’s SOMEWHERE in the US that unions are still appreciated for the blessings they are.

Cartoon – Not all that new, at that. Salem. The Inquisition. The Crusades. Only the shapes of the weapons have been changed to protect the guilty.

    HAPPY CONSTITUTION DAY!

  2. PPC: Word !!!

NYer: I get Amber Alerts & weather/fire alerts, & EBS (emergency broadcast system)here, but that’s for my local regional area.

NYT: Kudos to Ms. LaVoy! The very best to her!!

    Cartoon: Yep.

Boy, I bet that was a ‘nailbiter’ game to the very end. Hope that you have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “Trump campaigning for Ted Cruz is like gonorrhea vouching for syphilis.” Dee R.

  3. Thanks for the Dee R. quote, P Bowen! That is perfect!

  4. Personally, when it comes to how I’m going to handle Twitler’s “Emergency Alert” call, I’m taking the Ernestine approach:

  5. PPC: Just quietly marvelous.  this is worth saving in the archives, just in case he is ever brought to some sort of trial, or to Mueller’s office, and we can play it over the silent picture of him going on about how he’s been soooo victimized.
New Yorker: Andy has his finger on the pulse of America.
Dee R. quote..perfect together, in the psych ward.
NYT: I like the likes of LaVoy!
    ‘Toon: Sadly so.

  6. PP: Another perfect, and ever so subtle, parody, both in text and in rendering, making the message all the more clear: He lies, and lies, and lies…it’s first nature to him.

TNY: The “presidential alert” may be a bit of a scam (it’s not something Drumpf has thought up or exploits to get more people to praise him, but Andy’s parody hits the nail on how people will react when they get this “presidential alert”, thinking it does stem from Drumpf himself. In case of a real emergency this could be disastrous. 13

NYT: Ms. Lavoy wants more money for roads. More money for unions. More money in workers’ paychecks. Sounds like a socialist to me ??

    Cartoon: New?

  7. Puzzle — 5:30  Puddy Tat, for your top time, your have won a year’s supply of haggis, enough for one haggis every day!  Bon appétit!!!

Parody Project — Diaper Don certainly gives new meaning to “liar, liar, pants on fire!”.  I was once told by a pastor that there is only one constant in life, and that is change.  That was over 35 years ago.  It needs to be updated to 2 things, change and Diaper Don!

The New Yorker — “Millions of Americans do not want Donald J. Trump to text them that there is an emergency, but “very strongly” want Robert Mueller to text them when this current emergency is over, a new poll shows.” — AMEN!!!  Nobody would believe him anyway!!!

NY Times — “Democrats need to run on what their OWN constituents need, in addition to opposing Republican policies.” — AMEN!!! and no lies!!!

    Cartoon — Yup!!!

OMG!!!  We had sun all day yesterday!  Last night it was foggy .  . . very foggy, but that is to be expected at this time of year.  It is sunny right now but we are expecting clouds and showers later this afternoon.  I hope it waits until I get Winnie home from the vet’s.  Speaking of the vet, I bought cat food on Saturday which normally isn’t a big deal other than the blast to the pocketbook.  After feeding the furbabes on Sunday with the food, I discovered I had been given dog food in error so I returned it yesterday.  At least after 3 meals of dog food, the furbabes (cats) are not barking yet!

  8. Thanks and pooped hugs! 19
