I watched this yesterday….and was overcome with emotion.
Gawd, I miss him, and for what he stands for…such a remarkable, kind and worthy elocutionist, who means what he says, and does what he said.
And that was Illinois. Yesterday. Today he is in California, doing more of it. But the live stream seems to be on Facebook for now.
And, while it is getting some very nutty (apologies to peanuts and tree nuts) responses from many conservatives, at least one welcomed it.
Here’s another take on it vis-a-vis the conservative position.
He would have done a better job if the Rethuglican-dominated Congress hadn’t thwarted him so.

i watched him yesterday when Joanne posted the link, greatly missed & such a breath of intelligent fresh air!
Obama spoke at the University of Illinois because he received an award from their Institute and Government Affairs that honours the integrity and high ethical standards that have guided his lifetime of public service. His speech made it clear again why he got this award.
Of course there couldn’t be a better background to contrast himself with than the current administration. So sad to see almost all Obama worked for destroyed by hateful racists who can’t live with someone trying to do good for the country and who is still better liked than they are no matter what they say.
When asked if he had listened to Obama’s speech, Diaper Don replied that he had it on but he fell asleep. Well it is no wonder. Obama spoke at an adult level, a level way above Diaper Don’s intellectual level! (and I won’t even talk about his emotional level!)
Obama used the word “Trump” about three times, the rest of the time mentioning Republicans — “Trump is just a symptom of what has been going on for decades.” Very similar to what was said earlier here — Trump is the tumour but Republicans are the cancer. I am certain that as time goes on, Diaper Don, narcissist that he is, will see this as a personal attack. But in truth, it was a civics lesson and an encouragement to stay engaged and vote.
A breath of fresh air indeed!!!
