Yes, I know. You don’t have to tell me that Republican propaganda began, in earnest, with Nixon and has been growing ever since. But the last couple weeks have been very bad for the Tangerine Tovarisch. Twelve of his allies in Russia were indicted. The Helsinki blowjob and his subsequent lame excuse humiliated him. The Mueller probe is closing in. Cohen taped him bribing a mistress. Worst of all, people all over the world are laughing at him. I think the current barrage of disinformation is borne of desperation, and his minions keep goose-stepping behind him.
It was perhaps the most explosive exchange in an incendiary press conference: Russian President Vladimir Putin appearing to frankly admit to a motive for, and maybe even to the act of, meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, despite repeatedly denying Russian interference in American politics during the rest of his appearance with Donald Trump in Finland on Monday.
But the exchange doesn’t appear in full in the White House’s live-stream or transcript of the press conference, and it’s missing entirely from the Kremlin’s transcript of the event. The White House did not immediately provide an explanation for the discrepancy.
Understanding what Putin said depends on what you watch or where you look. If you watch the video of the news conference provided by the Russian government, or by news outlets such as PBS and the Associated Press, you will hear the Reuters reporter Jeff Mason ask a bombshell of a question: “President Putin, did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?”
Putin then responds with a bombshell of an answer, according to the English translation of his remarks that was broadcast during the press conference: “Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.”… [emphasis added]

The real video exists in thousands of places and you’re about to see it. He can’t change the reality, but his base will never see it, and would not believe it, if they did. In addition, Trump and his allies are now claiming that Russia plans to interfere in the 2018 election on the side of the Democrats.
Rachel Maddow covers these and several more Republican propaganda incidents. I advise you to let the video keep running past it’s end, as in subsequent segments, her panel of experts covers these issues in depth.
It’s important for you to understand these things, so you can debunk and explain these Republican lies.

Ordinarily, when I put a comment on one thread here which is applicable to more than one, I don’t repeat it. But I remarked on this on the Open Thread, and I’m repeating the warning here, because frankly this scares me more than Republicans. Please don’t think I am not in agreement with “Vote Blue No Matter Who” – I absolutely am. I just don’t want us to forget that we are going to have to be working with some people we don’t agree with in order to get things done. And I don’t mean Republicans – they won’t work with anyone and won’t listen to reason or facts, and there’s not really much we can do about that. Democrats certainly have the potential lo listen to reason, and I hope will do so. I don’t want to offend them (I don’t care how much I offend Republicans.) I’m not sure how we need to deal with this.

I fully agree. The Democrat we want may be very different from the Democrat that can win in a conservative community. Better that Democrat than a Republican.
“…back to normal.” Excuse me, but what was “normal” over the last decades? Have we been buddy, buddy with Russia over that period? Clearly, what we have here is BS on steroids. But “Da!” He did want and have his people act for Dumpy! And some wonder why the WH transcript might read differently? Right, the WH is going to point it out and say “See he did do that!”
Keep up the pressure, folks! Keep contacting your Congress critters via phone, e-mail, text, Tweet, handwritten letter (best of all – shows you are going to some serious effort), singing telegram, etc. Spread the news, attend protests, keep raising hell! Let us hope this is the beginning of the end for the Orange Ogre’s FUBAR “administration.”

i watched both Rachel Maddow’s videos & i think i’m even more confused than before!
The putrid pus-sac known as Donald J. Trump, that the Electoral College has foisted upon the country and the world is trying to rewrite history, right before our eyes.
Those that would stand for this are not American but are both un-American and anti-American.
I believe that we need to investigate the Electoral College.
I hear you Mitch! When I heard “back to normal”, I wondered what normal . . . the cold war, glasnost, Drumpfian, Putinesque?
And then there is the matter of the Reuters journalist’s question . . . the truth (which I of course prefer), the WH scrubbed version which leaves out part of the question, and the Russian version which completely deleted the question and answer from the posted transcript. Richard is correct. Both the Drumpf régime and Russia are trying to rewrite history for their own realities and purposes. Unfortunately, the Drumpfians will cling to the WH version because it suits their beliefs.
Then there is the matter of the 12 Americans, including Ambassador McFaul, who Putin says he wants to question about crimes in Russia and Drumpf seemed to entertain for 4 days. What was Drumpf thinking? My bad . . . Drumpf does not think! Rachel mentioned that the Wikipedia article about Maria Butina had been scrubbed by Russia. It appears to have been reversed 25/07/2018 but that does not mean such things will not happen again.
This entire episode should seal the case for treason, but it won’t. I am sure that when confronted, Sarah Huckabee Sanders will spin more lies for the régime.
This was an excellent piece and of course Rachel did her usual excellent reporting.
Somewhere this morning I read that the Senate voted against allowing this, 98-0/ Now I can’t find it. Maybe someone else has a better memory than I.
