We on the left object to attempts by foreign governments to interfere with US elections to install extremist, white supremacist, fascists in positions of power.  The Republican Reich does not object, because they are the fascists Putin helped install.  Not only do they not object, but also, they are teaming with Putin to help install fascists in power in Europe.

It’s not new to hear U.S. officials rooting for regime change. It’s just been a while since they’ve talked about it with regard to Berlin.

President Donald Trump’s attacks on Twitter against German Chancellor Angela Merkel this week provided the clearest evidence yet of a sprawling American campaign to undermine her. While Trump’s disdain for Merkel has been evident since the early days of his presidential run, he and his ideological allies have ramped up their efforts dramatically just as the German leader faces what experts call one of her most serious challenges yet: developing a Europe-wide policy on asylum seekers by July 1 to appease a crucial right-wing partner in her coalition government.

Merkel now has to contend with not only local opponents but also a network of influential anti-immigrant Americans and other international activists inspired by Trump and similar illiberal leaders, like Hungary’s Viktor Orban and Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

They’re determined to punish the chancellor for welcoming more than a million desperate refugees seeking shelter in Europe since 2015 ― and ultimately want to prove that compassion toward immigrants is now political suicide in the West.

The leaders of the two biggest nations in Europe are increasingly besieged,” said Gerald Knaus of the European Stability Initiative, referring to Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron. “And both of the big outside powers, the U.S. and Russia, are on the side of those who besiege them.”…  [emphasis added]

  1. I wish I could remember a time when the United States was not on the wrong side of a revolution. But I can’t. I do, however, giving lip service to the right side of history. Now we are no longer even doing that. God help us – but, even more, God help those we are hurting.

  2. Word. God have mercy on us all, to protect us from this hate, and insanitea !!

  3. You let me know if prayer helps, ok?
Of course, if, eventually, things work out for some kind of better, people will say, “See, prayer worked!”  But, that is not evidence.

  4. This pig is doing so much damage, on so many fronts, to the culture and physical being of this country. Drilling in the Arctic, in both oceans, creating an atmosphere of hate and fear, and here is the latest (though “latest” changes very quickly with the emanations spilling from this administration:

“White Civil rights?” How about Nazis marching near the W.H.??

  5. I’m not quite ready to compare tRump to Hitler, much as I hate that orange f–k – but he’s getting closer and closer to that point where I will do so shamelessly. My father once told me that you should never compare anybody to Germany’s most nefarious leader unless he (or she) is responsible for the deaths of at least 6 million members of a certain ethnicity. Then again, a wolf remains a wolf even if it hasn’t eaten any of your sheep.

Mitch, SHAME ON YOU for calling tRump a “pig.” You owe an abject apology to this planet’s entire population of swine.

  6. Little ol’ me from afar stands together with y’all against republicans like trump and his boss, putin!

  7. Sorry Animae but I removed the cartoon as it is copyrighted.
But it is absolutely correct — a prison wall with Trump a resident within will make America Safe Again!

TC, right now it is stored in the library under my name as Animae used ‘insert image’ w/o putting it in the library.

    • I deleted it from the library. 35

    • You can share a copyrighted one with a link to some (safe) place where it has been published with permission.  I know, I’d rather put up the image too, but sometimes one legally can’t.

Recently Rob Rogers was fired from a newspaper in Pittsburgh for telling the truth in his cartoons.  He had worked there for 25 years.  Someone at Daily Kos suggested sharing his work … but he was almost immediately picked up by a syndicate.  It’s a name i’m not familiar with and I don’t know their rules, so I am doing my sharing via his website.

  8. All cartoon point towards Drumpf now, but Drumpf is just that nasty white spot on the Republican pimple that is about to erupt, isn’t he. As the title tells us, it’s the Republicans who are in on it, bringing strife within the EU. Drumpf is just the best mouthpiece they ever had to reach their goals. Is it a coincidence however, that their goals are exact replicas of Putin’s goals? Perhaps the buck of collusion doesn’t stop at Drumpf.

Anyway, with all the interfering in the EU, and with the mess Drumpf/Republicans makes of anything outside and inside of the US, it becomes more difficult by the day to like America and Americans in general.*

    * With the exception of those Americans in TomCat’s PP realm, of course.

  9. The US has a long history of interfering in the affairs of other nations — Chile, Nicaragua, Panama, and Vietnam just to name a few.  And if my history lesson memories are correct, both the US and Canada (unfortunately) turned away Jews fleeing the Nazis of Europe during the 20th century.  So now Drumpf is stirring the pot to encourage European hard right thugs to stop mostly Arab immigrants from seeking sanctuary in Europe.  And of course, he is pressing the deportation from the US of migrants from Mexico and Central American countries calling them “animals” and “vermin”.  To make matters worse, he has separated some 2,000 children from their parents, many of those children lost in bureaucracy and in danger of never being reunited with their families.  When he cannot handle the situation at home, why is he interfering in Europe?!?

Drumpf is a USDA grade A+ asshole!!!  Unfortunately, Drumpf was born in the US so the US cannot deport him. But America, you sure as hell can impeach him or vote him out!  While he is not up for re-election right now, voters can sure ham-string him with a Democrat controlled House and Senate in November 2018 (seems Republicans did that to Obama. But retaliation is not the game. Saving DEMOCRACY is where it is at!) .  If that happens, he might just resign early.  Of course there’s still Pence, but he would be equally ham-strung.  That all sounds so sweet!

    • I see 52 as the Democrats’ best case scenario in the Senate.  To convict, we need 67.  01

      • I hope we can do better than 52 (and I’ll bet you share that hope!)  But if we can’t, even if we only do a little better than 52, you are absolutely right.  Sigh.

        • Of course I do, but it would take a miracle.  Check out Real Clear Politics35

          • George Will coming out and saying, “DON’T VOTE FOR REPUBLICANS.  VOTE ONLY FOR DEMOCRATS” was a miracle … but probably not enough of one.  He’s too intellectual.

Incidentally, John Pavlovitz, who is a gentle man though not one who backs down from truth, had the strongest words I’ve ever seen him use for Mike Upchuckabee today … starting with “I hope the hell you believe in exists” and getting harsher from there.

  10. Thanks all.  Sticky Hugs! 17

  11. The above picture of Trump/Hitler says it all. How the citizens in this country could have ever elected this racist, woman hating, ignorant man to be president is beyond me.  He and his cabinet are slowly destroying all the gains made to improve the human condition, the environment, strong ties to our allies…where will it all end.
