It’s another muggy day here at the CatBox.  I keep my desk locked, because that’s where I store my wallet, credit card and cash.  I often have several hundred dollars, so I can pay WWWendy for several weeks without having to go to the bank.  The lock on the desk is getting almost impossible to open, and it’s that way with both keys so the lock needs repair.  I have a locksmith coming ion the next hour to repair it.

Trump: he is what he grabs. RESIST!!

From IB Times: Thursday is World Water Day, an annual celebration initiated by the United Nations to raise awareness about water scarcity and how to preserve and use it safely. Even though water covers almost three-fourths of the Earth’s surface, there are many regions that are severely deprived of it…

…This year, World Water Day turns 25 and to celebrate the occasion, here are some facts and quotes about water, courtesy of Water.org.

Facts:

1. Today, 844 million people are living without access to safe water, while 2.3 billion people are living without access to improved sanitation.

2. Each year, 1 million people are killed by water, sanitation and hygiene-related diseases.

3. Ninety-five percent of the water used daily is wasted.

I shared three facts. Click through for the other seven. RESIST!!

From NY Times: John O. Brennan, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, said Wednesday that he thought Russia may have some kind of compromising information on President Trump, setting off furious speculation about whether the former spy chief was basing that assertion on inside information.

In an appearance on Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Mr. Brennan, who served as C.I.A. director from 2013 to 2017, speculated that Russians “may have something on him personally” when he was asked if he thought Mr. Trump was afraid of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia.

“The Russians, I think, have had long experience with Mr. Trump, and may have things that they could expose,” he added.

Mr. Brennan was running the C.I.A. when a salacious dossier surfaced in 2016 that claimed the Russians had compromising information on Mr. Trump. If there were any current or former American officials who might know if there was truth behind the allegations in the dossier, Mr. Brennan would most likely be one of them. And his comments came the day after a phone call Mr. Trump made to Mr. Putin congratulating him for winning an election raised new questions about the president’s relationship with Russia.

That’s exactly what I said yesterday. RESIST!!

  1. 6:05 Very showy.

FoD – Now THIS is funny!

IBT – After some years of more moisture than usual here (due IMNSHO to Arctic ice melt), it’s drying up. Our snowpack is dismal. I see a drought in our future here in the Rockies. Oh, and let me add a quote: “Aqua optimum est.” Note that the endings on “aqua” and “optimum” don’t agree. That’s because Apuleius didn’t just mean “water is best.” He meant “Water is THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD< IF NOT THE UNIVERSE.” Unfortunately we did not pay enough attention.

NYT – I would love to say that “everyone knows that,” but, alas, there are way too many that don’t. What scares me is that I don’t think its anything we have already heard about. I think it’s something else, and I don’t like thinking about what.

Cartoon – But Republicans didn’t let it stop them. They just started doing it extra-legally.

  2. Yep, the Tangerine Troglodyte is what he grabs! Orange is not that far from yellow.

Access to potable water should be a human right. However, greedy corporations, such as Nestle – or as they should be called, Nest-of-Thieves – are grabbing up aquifers so they can sell the water and screw the 99%. Here is a petition against privatizing a massive aquifer in South America.

I would not be surprised if Putin has some knife to tRump’s throat. RESIST and PERSIST!

  3. Off Topic.
While waiting in then Doc’s office for my apt to be seen, I read this in TIME Magazine: January 29, 2018 issue on Rand Paul’s article regarding Trump’s First Year in office. “Sen. Rand Paul: President Trump Has Had a Year of Accomplishments”. I’ve known that Rand Paul is a bit of a flake but this article made me want to puke.
http://time.com/5105056/rand-paul-donald-trump-first-year/ Normally, I do not read TIME magazine as I consider it to be right wing oriented. But, the reading materials at this doc’s office was lacking. Beware as this article is a BARF ALERT. lol.

    • Jim,
Thanks, but no thanks, I ate dinner within the last few hours.  When I was in college, some 200 years ago (no typo), some of us would sit in the back of a class and read Time, and snicker over its idiocy.  Rand Paul, named for Ayn Rand by the last fully psychotic presidential candidate, is not someone whose opinion I would  actually want to know.

  4. Y/T/Funny or Die:  Funny!  Yeah, can you just see him running into the Parkland school and taking on the shooter?
IB times: In a world replete with the sorts of technology that we have, this is criminal.
NY Times: Remember the statues of tDump that had the caption “The Emperor has no balls?”  That’s right, Putin has tDump’s in a little, teeny, tiny box, buried within the Kremlin walls.  And he’ll bring them out for “Show and Tell” if he thinks he has to…or just wants to, perhaps.
‘Toon: If tDump were to find out about this, he’d be very sad:  there went his only opportunity to adulterize without being guilty of adulterizing.   Also, on this day, 30years ago, Ronald Reagan vetoed the Civil Rights Restoration Act.  If tDump did something of that sort, the GOP would get out the trumpets, and drums, and celebrate.

  5. Oh, did you hear that tDump’s top lawyer has quit? This is apparently because dump will not not avoid an interview, under oath, with Mueller. Perjury, here he comes, with bells on! He, of course is smarter than his top lawyer. Don’t believe me, just ask him.

  6. Puzzle — 7:08 Pretty posey but a bitch of a puzzle!

Funny or Die — Oh, you mean a PUSSY!!!  Without a twitter feed, I don’t think he could do squat!  He’s only “brave” behind his smart phone when connected to twitter!

IB Times — Back on 30/01/18, I put together an article, Water, water everywhere?, about the water shortage in Cape Town, South Africa.  I read within the past few days that the situation in Cape Town has worsened and people don’t know what they will do for water.  From reliefweb.int

“Cape Town is in crisis. Prolonged drought, increased demand for water, and a lack of coordinated planning have combined to create a doomsday scenario in which the city is running out of water. The result has been a scramble for a quick fix for an issue that has been years in the making.

It’s time to acknowledge the fact that this is a long-term challenge.”

A quick fix does not exist.  As a planet, we must re-educate ourselves and change our way of thinking about water.  It will be a long term challenge in which ALL people must engage.

NY Times — Drumpf, you can run but you cannot hide.  Putin has you over a barrel and is ready to spank you if you start misbehaving!  I believe Robert Mueller has your number too.  You are hooped!!!

  7. FoD: Marvellous how they made Drumpf the icon of “Stay Safe and Afraid”, his real agenda behind MAGA. Wasn’t hard to do, though. He really is a gutless and insecure wimp who has to to fight his (physical) battles on Twitter as he’d now doing with Biden. That is so pathetic I can’t even laugh about it. But Drumpf even can’t win this or any other battle on Twitter.

IBT: Scary, aren’t they, all these fact about water and the access to clean water. As I’ve said before, water is the new oil, and with global warming quickly deteriorating the situation, more and more people will have to fight for it. Skirmishes are already taking place, wars over water may be next unless we find a way to share it equally among us all and not let it be turned into another $$-making commodity for the rich, who’ll also be the only ones to afford it.

NYT: I’m starting to wonder how salacious the material the Russians have on Drumpf could really be. The longer they keep it to themselves, the more potency it loses. After more than 14 months of (dosed) salaciousness coming out it must be clear that both his base nor Republican Congress have become immune to it. Even the Talibangelists are taking his infidelities with several ladies of ill-repute in their stride. Hanity has shrewdly been desensitizing the base to the PP-tapes by mentioning it over and over again; if this is all the Russians have, there will be a short period of “shock”and denunciation when they come out and then it’ll be back to business for Republicans. Short of murder, nothing will shock them…and even that is questionable. Remember this is the man who said he could shoot someone on the streets of NY and nothing would happen, and his fans cheered.

Cartoon: So how come there are reality TV shows about polygamists, even showing here?

News broke that Drumpf dumped McMaster as national security adviser in favor of, of all people, North-Korea-hater and Iran-nemesis John Bolton. I’m now going to the bookies to place my bet on Iran to be the first target when Mueller gets too close. Why? At the beginning of the week Drumpf met with some Saudi princes and this photo was made:

Saudi Arabia is Iran’s greatest adversary in the region and they’ve been battling control in the region out in Yemen, with the help of the US, costing the lives of thousands of civilians through bombing AND starvation. The UN has called Yemen a humanitarian disaster area. Now Drumpf has finalized 12,5 billion in arms sales to the Saudis, and there may be more to come. In the meantime Israel has also warned Iran for ‘retaliation’ for drones crossing the border and who knows what arms deals Netanyahu got to take home after his visit a few weeks back. Add to that the allies have been put under pressure to make deals to avoid stiff tariffs on steel and aluminum and a picture of a president readying himself to strike to deflect from being prosecuted is emerging. And Bolton is just the man to ‘support’ such a strike.

And it all hypocritical beyond belief. In the same session with the Saudis, Drumpf was asked why he had congratulated Putin on his election victory which he defended by telling journalists that it had lead to talks between them in the near future in which it was necessary to discuss the arms race which is getting out of control…
