Blood Money Bought 17 Lives

Already Republicans are tweeting their prayers and condolences, but anytime someone mentions negotiating common sense gun control, they purse their liver lips and say that this just isn’t the time for that.  Bullshit!  If not now, when?  If pressed, Republicans continue that they would really love to help, if only the Second Amendment didn’t prevent them.  Well, if I have an absolute right to bear arms, perhaps, I’ll go to Joe’s Nuke Shop, pick up a small thermonuclear device, and head for the White House… just to visit of course.  Now all but the most rabid Republican Ammosexuals would agree that I don’t have a tight to bear nukes.  Since I don’t have an absolute right to bear those particular arms, the issue becomes where we draw the line.  For Republicans, the line is drawn with blood money.

In the wake of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on Wednesday afternoon, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) called it a "terrible day you pray never comes," and the backlash on Twitter was quick.

The New York Daily News reports that over the course of his career as an elected official, Rubio has received $3,303,355 from the NRA, plus an "A+" grade, and during the 2015-16 campaign cycle, he accepted $90,205 in contributions from gun rights groups. Several people tweeted "$3,303,355" to Rubio, adding comments like, "You chose money over dead kids" and "While you’re praying, also pray for a spine to stand up to the NRA that has bought you off so effectively with their blood-money."

Others called him out for voting against limiting firearm magazine capacities and keeping people on the terrorist watch list from purchasing guns, and said he should draft legislation that bans AR-15s, the weapon used by the alleged shooter on Wednesday… [emphasis added]

Inserted from <This Week Magazine>

Lawrence O’Donnell interviewed an anguished father, whose daughter survived the shooting without physical injury.

Now Rubio is just one politician when scores have red hands from handling blood-soaked NRA Money.  According to common wisdom, Republicans and Democrats are equally guilty, but are they?  Where does NRA money actually go?

Total Independent Expenditures: $1,516,091

     For Democrats: $0

     Against Democrats: $336,882

     For Republicans: $1,275,066

     Against Republicans: $44,591

Total Electioneering Communications: $0

This data came from Open Secrets for 2018.

That makes it clear that the problem is Republican.  They may talk a good game on occasion, but as long as they have the power to prevent gun reform, they will.  Republicans would rather see families lose children than gun manufacturers lose profits.

RESIST THE REPUBLICAN REICH!!

  1. Petition:
Designate the National Rifle Association (NRA) as a Domestic Terrorist Organization under the USA Patriot Act

    .

  2. Well, this is different.  I remember this guy as a real RWNJ on multiple levels. This dropped my jaw.
(Apparently it shocked Don Lemon too.)

VoteVets has a petition. You don’t need to be a veteran.

This is powerful. It’s not brand new, but this is definitely the time to reprint it.

Those Open Secrets are really just a drop in the bucket, incidentally. There are ten Republican Senators who EACH received more in campaign contributions than the TOTAL of those figures. Here they are (with some high-rolling representatives.)

  3. Un.Real !! Blood money indeed !!! Signed, signed, and signed !! Send more my way if you see any more.

  4. Here’s a new petition from Gabby Giffords:

“I promise you that if we cannot make our communities safer from gun violence with the Congress we have now, I will use every means available to make sure we have a different Congress, one that puts communities’ interests ahead of the gun lobby’s. I will Vote Courage in November and support candidates who will stand up to the gun lobby and take action to make our communities safer.”

  5. I have signed them all. some earlier, and commented that the NRA is a domestic terrorist org! Then i saw a photo of Wayne La Pierre sitting next to the orange disgrace, and almost dumped my cookies!

  6. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! How many mass shootings, how many bloodbaths, how many mounds of corpses will it take? As the old song says, how many deaths will it take till we know that too many people have died?

  7. It’s high time that the gun lobby be brought to task for their part in the slaughter of our children in all schools! Be it kindergarten, primary, middle, high school or college! And while we are at it, ANYONE in the country that are victims of gun violence! Get rid of the automatic-style or fully automatic weapons of WAR! No person needs a machine gun or any gun that fires more bullets that can be held in one hand!!! These “bump-stock” and anything else that fires that fast has NO USE in hunting for food! There’s just NO USE FOR THEM in anything but WAR!!!
I have been so saddened by this whole disaster that I’m just devastated. How can this happen again? And as I say that, unless something DRASTICALLY CHANGES, there will be another one in the future. Sad to say, but we all know this. ?

  8. Thanks, hugs, and Amen to all! ?

  9. Sergio Rozenblat: “It’s always to early until it is too late!”

    This from CNN:

“Amid renewed debate over gun control after Wednesday’s school shooting in Florida, House Speaker Paul Ryan is arguing that now is not the time to wage political battles.

“This is one of those moments where we just need to step back and count our blessings,” he told reporters Thursday at a news conference at the Capitol. “We need to think less about taking sides and fighting each other politically, and just pulling together. This House, and the whole country, stands with the Parkland community.””

    If NOT NOW, then WHEN???

And if you can stomach it, listen to Drumpf commenting on the shooting on the CNN feed.  It beggars belief that he could say the things he did when he signed HJ Resolution 40 which made it easier for those with mental illness to obtain guns.

IMO, the Drumpf administration and all Republicans are complicit in the murder of these 17 students and most every other mass murder.  This from CBS News:

“A little over a month after his inauguration, on Feb. 28, 2017, President Trump signed HJ Resolution 40, a bill that made it easier for people with mental illness to obtain guns. CBS News then asked the White House to release the photograph of Mr. Trump signing the bill, making the request a total of 12 times.”

Complicity!!!  Blood is dripping from Republican hands!

Get Republicans by the mid terms!!!

  10. What is there left to be said that hasn’t already been said. The only thing left to do is to confront those hypocritical Republicans who started their Tweets of condolences – for which they must have a template by now, just altering the date and names – with their pay-off by the NRA. This is exactly what Bess Kalb, comedy writer for Jimmy Kimmel has done. She re-tweets everyone of those sickening Republican tweets with the amount of dollars they got from the NRA. I hope it helps.
