Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten and his Republican Reich have released their budget.  The GOP Nazi word for Vaseline is Vienerschleider, and if you don’t know hat that has to do with a Republican budget, it’s time for you to bend over and grab your ankles.  You’re about to find out in the worst possible way.

The Trump administration wants to slash food aid to low-income families and make up the difference with a box of canned goods — a change that Office of Management and budget director Mick Mulvaney described in a Monday briefing as a “Blue Apron-type program.”

“What we do is propose that for folks who are on food stamps, part — not all, part — of their benefits come in the actual sort of, and I don’t want to steal somebody’s copyright, but a Blue Apron-type program where you actually receive the food instead of receive the cash,” Mulvaney said. “It lowers the cost to us because we can buy [at wholesale prices] whereas they have to buy it at retail. It also makes sure they’re getting nutritious food. So we’re pretty excited about that.”

Mulvaney’s remarks drew raised eyebrows from some critics, who accuse the Trump administration official of drawing an unfair comparison between the food stamp program, which delivers an average of $1.37 per meal to America’s poorest, and a high-end meal kit that runs $10 per serving.

On Monday, the Trump administration proposed cutting food stamps, formally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, by $17 billion in 2019 and more than $213 billion over the next decade. The dramatic reductions came as part of a budget proposal that made sweeping, across-the-board cuts to popular safety net programs, including federal housing subsidies and Medicaid.

But the administration’s SNAP proposal was particularly striking, advocates and experts said, because it advocates a fundamental change to the program’s administration. For the past 40 years, the Agriculture Department has distributed benefits as either paper coupons or virtual disbursements on Electronic Benefit Transfer cards, allowing recipients to use them as cash on foods of their choice and at their own grocery store… [emphasis added]

When you get your GOP food package, say "Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!"  But don’t expect a cat to come.  Republicans will be feeding you the portions that the cats rejected.

RESIST THE REPUBLICAN REICH!!

  1. Well, that should make SNAP recipients MUCH happier, since they won’t have to have people on grocery stores looking down on them for their choices. Oh, wait …

I assume everyone can hear the snark dripping from my first sentence. I haven’t even yet mentioned what an issue that could create for people who have food allergies or sensitivities. Oh, well, Republicans want the poor to die, and this should facilitate that bigly.

  2. Now this is downright sickening!!! But…knowing them… I figured as much! the Sons A Bithches!!!!! I think all of them should try it out themselves to see if this program is going to work!!! Talk about a slip & slide with the Vienerschleider too.
*Yea, Nita, they certainly are the definition of a–Holes!!!

  3. Remember: In May 2015, Candidate Trump tweeted, “I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid.” And in an April 2016 ad that ran in Pennsylvania he promised to “save Social Security and Medicare without cuts.” [Editorial Board, NYT 12]

And Mulvaney said on this budget, that despite cuts in Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid the enormous amount of billions to be spend extra on the military would increase the deficit with a few more trillions, that he could have balanced the budget, but that the numbers would have looked funny. Funny? Are they all gone insane in the Drumpf administration?

Before long it’s back to the soup kitchens of the Great Depression for the poor, which will be a large part of US citizens. And forget about the Vaseline, you won’t be able to afford it. You’ll have to take it as it comes if this administration and Congress gets their way. So:

  4. But don’t expect a cat to come.  Republicans will be feeding you the portions that the cats rejected.

I’m afraid they might actually be feeding you portions of the cats.  Almost anything is classified as food somewhere in the world.

Whatever.  They’ll be giving people whatever nobody else wants.  It’s the only way to save that $213 billion.  Which they need for more corporate tax cuts.

  5. GRAB THESE SOBS BY THE MID-TERMS, AND RUN THEM OUT OF TOWN!

  6. TC- I’m getting an empty frame at C2.

  7. The box of canned goods sounds nice – until you realize who will be controlling what gets sent. Also, some foods are not healthful when canned.

RESIST, PERSIST, INSIST, and above all, VOTE! Rise up and end the totally unethical and immoral war on the poor!

    • I’m not sure any foods are healthful when canned, what with BPA.  Yes, I use some (not many because I don’t usually care for the taste,) but I am past childbearing age.  “Vetwife,” who posted the story to Daily Kos, has a daughter with severe diabetes, who needs SNAP to not starve, but may have to choose between starvation and poisoning.

  8. “On Monday, the Trump administration proposed cutting food stamps, formally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, by $17 billion in 2019 and more than $213 billion over the next decade.”

Take from the poor and give to the already obscenely wealthy and corporations in the form of tax cuts and military contracts (14% increase in military spending and 12% increase for Homeland).  As Lona notes above from a NY Times editorial, candidate Drumpf tweeted ” “I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid.”” which amounts to yet ANOTHER LIE from the Orange Ogre, and by extension, Republicans.

Republicans are content to raise the deficit, something they fiercely fought against during Obama’s presidency (he actually reduced the deficit which had been jacked up by wars on the country’s credit card during Baby Bush’s reign).  And they are willing to do so at the expense of the most disadvantaged in society.

Many of Drumpf’s supporters are in the category of the least educated and working class and elderly who believed his “drain the swamp” speech and his “I work for the American people” shtick.  I wonder how many of them are starting to see Drumpf and Republicans in their true light?

Drumpf parks his fat ass on a golden throne while others search for a regular throne to use!  Drumpf is a racist, bigoted, xenophobic, narcissistic, lying asshole!

  9. Thanks all.  Tired Hugs! 23

  10. Mulvaney showed the true evil that he is while explaining the budget. I watched the farce on c-span and it appeared to me that the twerp Mulvaney answered every question put forth by a republican, while dodging, deflecting or outright refusing to answer all questions from the left.

Quite a spectacle, the dancing in his seat, and the twinkle in his eyes as he speaks about causing misery for families across the country, many of whom actually voted for this joke of an administration. Karma?

Personally, Mulvaney disgusts me to the core.
