My vision is still a bit blurry from yesterday’s ordeal, but I’m pleased to report that my vision is perfect in both eyes with my glasses, except for the double vision.  The non-malignant remnants of my choroidal cancer are even smaller than they were six months ago.  I could not have received a better report.  I’m running late because of chores, and am hurrying because WWWendy is coming this evening to destink the TomCat.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:49 (average 4:53).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Inequality Media Channel): Rise Up Vs. Trickle Down Economics

In short, the way to build up the economy is to tear down the Republican Reich. RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): America’s Crumbling Infrastructure Under Donald Trump

Barf Bag Alert!!

There’s the problem. Because the Fuhrer finds America’s infrastructure sexy, he can only be referring to all the pussies he wants to grab. When it comes to actually building America’s infrastructure, Republicans are too preoccupied with tearing it down. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: According to Politico, Susan Collins is shocked to discover that the White House has broken a promise to her.

President Donald Trump’s legislative affairs director, Marc Short, stood just off the Senate floor as Republicans cast a party-line vote on Trump’s tax package late last year, but his moment of triumph was brief.

As she walked off the floor, Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins spotted Short — and she exploded.

The White House had promised Collins, a moderate, that it would seek a vote before recess on guaranteeing payments to health insurers in order to stabilize Obamacare markets, a key issue for her. But under intense opposition from pro-life groups and from House conservatives, no such vote materialized.

I don’t buy it. When Senate Republicans passed their Tax SCAM, I said that Collins had to know that "promise" would never be kept. I stand by that. What we see from her now is Kabuki theater to fool her constituents and make her appear innocent. She’s guilty. She’s a Republican! RESIST!!

  1. 4:37 Mmmm – looks tasty.

TRIGGER WARNING From Daily Kos Elections – a most powerful campaign ad TRIGGER WARNING

IMC – Of course the Reich on the left is right again. And it just makes sense. Especially “American workers are the ONLY completely American resource.” So of course no Republican will believe it.

Lawrence – “I know how to build.” WRONG. “I know how to privatize” – now THET would be accurate. Ezra Klein is not only very perceptive, but also very articulate.

DKos – Theater itself is not necessarily a bad thing. You are almost certainly correct – but I’m still glad she did it.

Cartoon – Aaaaw – so much big work for such a little kitty to do! Don’t worry, you are up to the job.

  2. IMC: Great as always, Mr. Reich. Passing this one one too.

MSNBC: Sexy? What a dumb A–. Mr. Dumpty has no plans in doing anything with the crumbling infrastructures that in dire need of help. All bluster, and no action. Boy, he’s full of hot air. Again. Repeat. What in sam tarnation does he do all day??

DK: Least she’s got a backbone, unlike the other Repugs.

Cartoon: You look pretty focused, hope that you are taking little breaks. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. Such wonderful news, TomCat! You must feel enormously relieved despite all those nails scratching the inside of your skull. I can’t tell from the cartoon you’re still seeing double, you look really fine to me.

IMC: As always, Reich is spot on. When hasn’t he been spot on? But his views sadly do not trickle down either.

Laurence: Allow me to quote Krugman (NYT) on this subject:

So why isn’t Trump proposing something real? Why this dog’s breakfast of a proposal that everyone knows won’t go anywhere?

Part of the answer is that in practice Trump always defers to Republican orthodoxy, and the modern G.O.P. hates any program that might show people that government can work and help people.

But I also suspect that Trump is afraid to try anything substantive. To do public investment successfully, you need leadership and advice from experts. And this administration doesn’t do expertise, in any field. Not only do experts have a nasty habit of telling you things you don’t want to hear, their loyalty is suspect: You never know when their professional ethics might kick in.

So the Trump administration probably couldn’t put together a real infrastructure plan even if it wanted to. And that’s why it didn’t.

DK: Of course Collins knew the party leadership wouldn’t keep their promise, we all knew! Because they never do! Collins will need to take a lot of acting classes if she wants to convince her constituents she’s an innocent “victim”.

  4. IMC: The Rethugs do not want “productive adults,” they want more money for themselves!  “Trickle down” has been shown to be a farce, a scam, and that was quite a long time ago.  St.Reagan, and his damned legacy, have been beating up the middle class for decades!
MSNBC: tDump’s privatization scheme will just allow the GOPigs to enlarge the country’s sphincter, for a bigger screwing!
DK: Collins turns out to be just one more scuzbag!
‘Toon: TC, you are lookin’ good!

  5. “Trickle-down economics” is an oxymoron. NOTHING trickles down. Ever.

The Orange Ogre’s half-assed infrastructure plan will just put into private hands more stuff that should remain in public hands. tRump is nothing but a stooge of the 1% fat cats.

I’ve said it a bunch of times – hell, a bunch of people have said it a bunch of times: RESIST and PERSIST!

  6. Puzzle — 3:47  I was repelled by the smell! I am allergic to coffee and can’t sit in close quarters with anyone drinking strong coffee, and I stay clear from the “fresh bean aisle” in the grocery store lest I need a barf bag.

Inequality Media — Reagan’s trickle down has never worked except to enrich the already wealthy. In a recent article I read, most corporations are not re-investing the tax windfalls in the business but rather pocketing them.  We hear about the relatively few who are sharing some of their good fortune with their employees, but those are few.  Reich is correct . . . the US needs rise up economics!

MSNBC — He knows how to build?  No!  He knows how to get others to take all the risks while he takes the credit if the project is successful and terrorises everybody else if it is not successful.  Infrastructure repairs will be on the never never plan!

Daily Kos — Once a Republican, always a Republican! . . . just like a leopard does not change its spots!

I am very happy that your eye appointment was so successful despite the discomfort.  I imagine the momentary discomfort is acceptable when the results are so glowing!  Good stuff!!!  I fell asleep yesterday afternoon because of the headaches resulting from my fall.  In doing so, I missed a meeting last night which I was supposed to chair.  The glasses are still difficult but getting better, and I hope my physiotherapist can help with the neck today.  We had about 7 cm (just under 3 in) of snow last night so the snow plow has been through the complex to help reduce ice accumulation.  Later . . .

  7. Thanks all.  Getting tired fast hugs! 33
