It’s a weird Sunday, because WWWendy came yesterday instead of today. In fact, that makes it feel like Monday. I decided to give myself a treat and ordered a pizza. It should get here in about an hour so I’ll break for lunch before I’m done. Tomorrow please expect no more than a Personal Update or an Open Thread. I have my semi-annual preventive eye cancer screening with Allison, my Ocular Oncological Surgeon. My eyes will be fully dilated, photographed and ultra sounded. The last is like fingernails on a blackboard inside my head. When the torture is over, my vision will be so blurry that I’ll be useless for the rest of the day. It’s an ARGH, but it is necessary. Update: BURP!!

From Politico: House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, a relentless critic of the media, has found a way around the often unflattering coverage of his role in the Trump-Russia investigation — by operating his own partisan news outlet.
Resembling a local, conservative news site, “The California Republican” is classified on Facebook as a “media/news company” and claims to deliver “the best of US, California, and Central Valley news, sports, and analysis.”
But the website is paid for by Nunes’ campaign committee, according to small print at the bottom of the site.

From NY Times: Before his sudden firing last week, the Pentagon official who oversaw military commission trials at Guantánamo Bay was exploring potential plea deals to end the long-delayed prosecution of five suspects in the Sept. 11 attacks, a move that would foreclose the possibility of execution, according to several people familiar with the matter.
No deal was imminent, the people said, but the talks were active and contemplated the defendants — including Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the self-described architect of the attacks — pleading guilty and probably receiving life sentences. Most of the people spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive deliberations.
At the GOP Gitmo Gulag, nothing short of state sponsored murder will satisfy the Party of Death! RESIST!!

PP – Acts of terrorism by governments have been committed by Republican Reichs (mostly ours.) Acts of terror by individuals have been committed by fascists – also mostly ours. (Though Daesh is also fascism, whichever box you want to put it into.)
Politico – I wonder how long he thinks he’s going to have a campaign committee. As Amy McGrath says, “We’ll see about that.”
NY Times – The Party of Death indeed. How many people will even see this story? (And how many of those who do will be the kind of people who think that if you are in prison you must be guilty of SOMETHING?)

Gerrymandering has been helping Rethuglicans for far too long. However, Democrats had better not get smug – they are guilty of the same.
I wore my glasses a bit longer today so I hope tomorrow will good enough to do some commenting. I am very bored! I slept in today which is fine considering I have not had the greatest of sleeps these past few days. Mid afternoon, I went to Cora’s for spinach and egg benedict served with a plethora of fresh fruit. It is soooooooooo good there. My server asked what happened to my face to which I told her I was a tangle footed sasquatch and fell on my face. I guess the young couple sitting across from me heard, and unbeknownst to me, paid my brunch bill. I have no idea who they were but I was certainly gobsmacked at their thoughtfulness. I have bought groceries or a meal for some homeless persons in the past, but I have never had someone secretly buy my lunch before. It was very sweet of them and very much appreciated. Don’t you wish there were people like that in the world . . . ones that think of others w/o thought of reward?!
Tomorrow sounds like a bitch for you Tom. Please take care of yourself.

PP: I’m really starting to admire these parody songs, both for their content and their musical expertise, so I wanted to know more about the guy behind it (it was clearly the same guy with different wigs on) and here is what I found in his site:
He’s in our age bracket and obviously “one of us”.
Politico: I bet that if they would follow the money, the main donors to Nunes’ campaign committee would be either the Kochs, Murdoch and/or Adelston, all hell bound on spreading Republican, i.e. fake news in a liberal state. There will always be people who listen to it, believe it, and make sure Nunes is reelected.
NYT: The GOP wants Gitmo open as long as possible, which Drumpf has now decreed, and those remaining there shut away from the world forever. Even if those last prisoners had gotten their plea deal and there would have been no trial which might have proven them innocent, they could have talked about their ordeal in Gitmo, and anything else they have witnessed, in the prisons they were subsequently sent to. Can’t have that now, can we.
