I’m hurrying to finish, so that I can get some rest this afternoon, because this evening is a holy night in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are playing the Colts on Thursday Night Football, and it is televised here.  Could it happen again?  Fantasy players,  there are Saturday games this week.  I received a call from the alternate food delivery guy I found for the two weeks Store to Door will be closed.  He has to go out of town.  So I’ll have to use Amazon Prime Now.  They are pricey.  Their offerings are incomplete.  Their user interface for groceries is a horrid disjointed maze.  But there is no waiting, and they are reliable.  I got my test results back from my stool sample.  My cat box is now a certified source of A-1 prime high octane kitty shit!  I just heard that Net Neutrality is dead.  The vote was 3-2.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:03 (average 5:26).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Huffington Post: An ethics watchdog group is asking the Department of Justice to investigate whether Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R) violated federal conflict of interest laws by promoting a column he was paid for during a meeting with President Donald Trump’s commission on election integrity, a panel on which he is a top official.

Kobach has written 14 columns for Breitbart since June, and he told the Kansas City Star he gets paid by the outlet for his work. On Tuesday, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington asked the Department of Justice to probe whether Kobach broke the law when he wrote a paid column alleging widespread voter fraud could have changed the outcome of the 2016 presidential election in New Hampshire and then introduced the piece for discussion at the September meeting.

CREW alleges Kobach was using his official position on the commission to advance his financial interest, something prohibited by federal law. Kobach’s columns all have a note at the bottom noting Kobach’s position as vice chair of the commission, which is formally called the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity.

Kudos to CREW! Kobitch needs a Saguaro suppository! RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Roy Moore’s defeat in Alabama’s special election means that the Texas senator Ted Cruz will easily retain his status as the most despised person in the United States Senate, congressional insiders confirmed on Wednesday.

According to those insiders, Cruz had been secretly hoping that Moore’s election would displace him from his unenviable position as the most vilified pariah in the upper chamber.

“Cruz was praying that, if Moore got in, that might change the daily conversation around here from ‘Who has to sit next to Ted?’ ” one Republican colleague said.

Cruz, whom colleagues deem even more insufferable than such other senatorial ass-clowns as Mitch McConnell and Tom Cotton, was reportedly “distraught” upon learning that Moore would not be joining him in the U.S. Senate.

What do you think poor Ted will do, Andy? I think he’ll seek comfort from his TRUS. RESIST!!

From Robert Reich: Common sense and decency have prevailed in Alabama. It was a vote not just against sexual abuse but also against racism and against those who would ride roughshod over our democratic institutions.

Yes, the margin was small, and Roy Moore was the worst candidate Republicans could possibly have dredged up. But remember, this is Alabama – where Democrats are hated, where minority votes are suppressed, where Trump won overwhelmingly last November.

In the most Trumpian of all states, Trump has been delivered the most powerful repudiation to date. First it was Virginia; now, Alabama. I’d like to think this is a precursor of what’s to come next November – the beginning of the end of the nightmare.

The Reich on the left is right. RESIST!!

  1. The cartoon is all too true – especially with Orange Halfwit at the wheel.
You’ve probably heard that the FCC passed Ajit Pai’s tomfool rule to destroy net neutrality. Don’t take this lying down – RESIST and PERSIST!
Here is one petition to defend Net Neutrality.
    Here is another.

  2. 4:54  Jigzone does love its candy.  And scoops.

Another no-vote-without-Jones petition, also group sponsored, but it doesn’t seem to be the same groups.

And Freya has a last-resort hail-Mary petition on Net Neutrality  See her comment, and SIGN!

    ACLU also has a petition.
Plus – Eric Schneiderman to the resue AGAIN.

HuffPo – Thank God for CREW!  (Do I even need to mention the right wing hates them?)

TNY – Aaaw! Poor Ted. (NOT!

Reich<- Yes, we all hope it is a sign of things to come.  And it may be.  But it will take work.

    Cartoon – No kidding.

  3. HP: Thank gawd for CREW!! Awesome!!

NYer: Many of my friends can’t stand Cruz, me included. I had the opportunity to meet/greet talk with Beto O’Rourke (D), El Paso,  a while back, who is hoping to unseat the demon. Love what Mr. O’Rourke stands for. US. Beto’s the MAN!!!

    RR: Word.

    Cartoon: eeeeeek !!

Good news from your doctor. Hope that you have a good evening, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. HP: Kobach has always been a slime ball!New Yorker: Cruz is like the kid in 3rd grade who was always picking his nose an licking his fingers!Reich: I sure as heck hope there is a speeding train coming right for the GOPIGS!

  5. Good stool sample!  Good stool sample!  Nice kitty!

  6. A petition on Care2 to send Drumpf and Pence to the moon which I thought was rather funny, especially given our posts within the last few days.

In space, no one can hear you tweet.

In space, you can’t harass and assault women or promote white supremacy. You can’t endorse pedophiles for the US Senate or collude with a foreign power to influence an election. You can’t support deadly LGBTQ “conversion” therapy or shred the social safety net.

My modest proposal on behalf of a weary, worried, and embarrassed nation? Let’s send Trump and Vice President Pence to the moon.

In a fully functional democracy, Members of Congress would hold the president accountable for conduct unbecoming the highest elected office in the land. He might even be impeached.

But since lawmakers seem unwilling or unable to hold the president responsible, no matter how bad — or even criminal — his behavior, the nation may need to consider other options.

  7. Glad to hear your gut is still healthy after all the gut wrenching Republicans/Drumpf have been putting you through, TomCat.

HP: Excellent action by CREW. It’s unclear if the Department of Justice will ever make a case of it (01) but even if it doesn’t CREW has brought Kris Kobach’s columns and their brainwash intent out in the open. Maybe it is enough to stop Kobach from writing for Breitbart altogether, but if it is indeed as criminal as it appears, Kobach should be prosecuted and punished for it. I’m envisioning a cartoon with the department sadly eyeing the horde of Republicans approaching and saying: “We need a bigger jail”.

TNY: I doubt that Moore would have been the next most despised and vilified pariah after Ted Cruz if he had made it into the Senate, Andy. Moore would have been met with open arms by quite a few senators of kindred spirit.

Robert Reich: Reich is always spot-on, so I keep my fingers and toes crossed he will be so again by prophesying that Roy Moore’s electoral demise is the beginning of the end of the nightmare November next year.

  8. Puzzle — 4:20  Too sweet for me!

Huffington Post — WTG CREW!!!!!  “Kobitch needs a Saguaro suppository!”  I respectfully disagree.  Kobitch needs a Saguaro suppository ONCE A DAY FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE!!!  Give him something to think about!

The New Yorker — Maybe little Ted will be so distraught that he’ll quit the Senate.  Or, there is a rocket going to the moon with other Republicans that he could catch.  I can hope for either can’t I!

Robert Reich — “I’d like to think this is a precursor of what’s to come next November – the beginning of the end of the nightmare.” — Me too!!!

Cartoon — Ah!  A white General Lee (Dukes of Hazard) setting the tone for the fate of Republicans if a one way trip to the moon is not available immediately.

  9. Thanks all.  Pooped hugs! 19
