Viva Macron!

I grew up three blocks from the ocean and one block from the bay.  Being close to nature, I developed a special appreciation for the environment and have long had a strong desire for my world to be ecologically healthy.  I was calling for reductions in greenhouse gasses and the development of green energy, long before it became fashionable to do so.  The infestation of our White House with Dirty Donald is the worst thing that could have happened to mother earth.  It is with great pleasure that I share an act of heroism.

French President Emmanuel Macron, in a not-so-subtle jab at President Trump, has awarded long-term research grants to 18 climate scientists — 13 of them U.S.-based researchers — to relocate to France and pursue their work with the blessing of a government that doesn’t cast doubt on the threat of climate change.

The announcement Monday makes good on a pledge Macron made earlier this year after the U.S. pulled out of the Paris climate accord to offer France as a "second homeland" to climate researchers in order to "make our planet great again."

Macron’s appeal produced 1,822 applicants, nearly two-thirds from the United States. Candidates had to have a proven track record on climate research and propose a project that would take three to five years to complete. That period roughly matches Trump current term in office.

Trump has proposed cuts in federal funding for scientific research. As Macron told the winners of the French grants, "we will be there to replace" U.S. support for climate research… [emphasis added]

  1. This is almost spooky.  Is he a reincarnation of the Marquis de Lafayette?  Sent from France to help us when we are not capable of helping ourselves?  Well, whatever he is, more power to him in this endeavor!

  2. This is so awesome, wonderful, AND sweet !!

Thank you, French President Emmanuel Macron!!

  3. Make our planet great again! Love it! Thank you so much, President Macron! I would much rather have you as a president than the one we got NOW! I love that MOST of the climate scientists are from the US! That just makes it ALL the sweeter! If, or rather WHAT they discover to help in the fight against climate change will be a REAL punch in the face for tRump! I hope they make all kinds of progress in this fight for life!
    Viva Macron!
I see that I have won the league first place. I was just wondering why I don’t get to play in the playoffs. I’m new to this, so don’t laugh. I thought we had to go thru the playoffs to see who won the season. Let me know, TC. I’m kinda mixed up.
Later, TC. I guess the deck has been stacked against Doug Jones. I see where they are trying to hack the vote there ALREADY! Not enough voting machines and higher turnout than expected! What did they think was going to happen? High turnout should have been expected!!! This is a horrible way to get a high turnout. Because one of the candidates is a child molester and worse should not be a reason to get people to get off their asses to go VOTE!!! It should be a higher turnout, ANYWAY! Sad, sad, SAD!

  4. In other words, if you are a scientist in the USA, better start taking French lessons.

  5. May this send Trumper over the edge. Good on France for several reasons.

  6. Hey, TC, we did it again: I posted on this, at C2,earlier today, this morning:

tDump is not making anything great, and his legacy will go down in the history books in a fashion he would call, from the grave, 200 years from now, “Fake News!”

  7. This was met with a lot of big grins here in Europe, I can tell you. Macron is an excellent president when it comes to foreign affairs (he also snubbed Netanyahu when he publicly condemned Drumpf’s decision on Jerusalem during Netanyahu’s visit to France and the EU in the past few days), but on internal affairs not so much. He’s got a lot of problems on his hands there, many of them economical, and smart as he is, he knows that investing in fighting climate change will boost a whole new type of economy in his country.

If America is stupid enough to put all their top-level climate change scientists out of a job, Macron can cherry-pick the best scientists of what the world has to offer and many excellent more will follow in their wake. Giving 18 scientists (and their teams) a grant will cost him now, but their findings will give an enormous and much needed boost to France’s economy. And the EU will jump on board as soon as possible, I’m sure.

  8. Thanks all!  Hugs! 09

  9. When I quickly saw the title, I thought what is this about macaroni.  I just have to stop doing those brain freeze drugs!

    Vive Macron!!!

I love Macron’s usurping of Drumpf’s motto — “Make the planet great again!”  Just lookout M Macron because Drumpf likes to sue people and I can see him trying to sue over the usurping of his motto.
