I’m trying to be as lazy as I can today.  Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are visiting LA to worship with the Chargers.  The game will not be televised here, because it is at the same time as the damn SeaChickens game.  It’s also a Wendy day, and we have lots to do, including the dreaded task.  May the divine Orb shine its blessed light on your team, unless they are electrical.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:08 (average 3:54).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MoveOn Channel): Dangerous Policy

For decades, it has been standard Republican misogyny that the right to life begins at conception, and standard Republican misanthropy that it ends at birth. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: In a stirring defense of Donald Trump’s chief of staff, General John Kelly, the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said on Friday that it was “unpatriotic in the extreme” to offer irrefutable video proof that a four-star general lied.

“It is unpatriotic enough to accuse a four-star general of lying,” Sanders told the White House press corps. “But to make available a video that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that that general lied is unpatriotic bordering on treasonous.”

Warming to her subject, Sanders said that any American who sees undeniable video evidence that a general lied and chooses to believe the video “shows disrespect for our country and hatred for our flag.”

Andy, is this supposed to be unusual? It looks like standard Republican Reich raving to me. RESIST!!

From The Rachel Maddow Show: Trump Chief of staff John Kelly lied in attack on Rep. Wilson

Rachel Maddow reports the latest developments in the mess Donald Trump has made politicizing military next-of-kin notifications with the fact that Trump chief of staff John Kelly’s attack on Rep. Frederica Wilson in his defense of Trump was completely false.

No matter how greasy the sleaze, IOKIYAR! If Kelly were not a goose-stepping Fascist racist, Trump would never have appointed him. If you hoping Kelly will save us if Trump goes for the nuclear football, this is an example of his courage. RESIST!!

I am proud to have been one of those patriots.

  1. 4:06  So it was reclaimed.  You gotta wonder how long it will stay reclaimed, what with sea level rise.  And whether any frogs will still be alive to settle on it if it doesn’t.

I don’t always agree with the Project on Government Oversight’s (POGO) opinions (especially when they disagree with Elizabeth Warren), but they are pretty good on straight facts, and when I read that three Senators have used their reporting to question a Trump nominee, I want to know which three.  Well, it was Feinstein, Kamala Harris, and Mark Warner.  Interesting.

TC, I assume you got the email that Credo is having a podcast with Jeff Merkley next Thursday?

MoveOn – Colorado has voted down “personhood” a few times.  I suppose we will have to do it again.  But not this year, fortunately.

TNY – OT, but it really pisses me off that this – person – married someone named Sanders.  If they shorten her name in headlines it’s so awful for porr Bernie.  Makes me crazy (some would say that’s not difficult.)

RMS – Yes, Lawrence had not gotten that memo when he was defending Wilson, though he manfully defended her anyway.  But even CNN has the memo now and is calling Kelly out. And pointing out how racist and sexist he is.

Cartoon – And I was trying unsuccessfully to oppose the was from the inside.  But I’m proud of trying.  And proud to know you.

    • I did, JD.  I used to be a Credo customer.  They acted so Republican that they are on my forever shit list.

Thank you, and thank you for trying.  I got several hundred vets involves with the peace movement, because they came home knowing the truth, and when treated with respect, mot called ‘baby-killer’, etc., they were anxious to help. 04

  2. MO: ugh!!

NYer: I’d lose my lunch if I listened to this id. She’s just like Kelly Conjob.

    RM: He’s an a–. A lying A – – . What a disgrace!!

Cartoon: A beautiful picture!! I’m very Proud to know you!!

We have a bye. Best to your guys, and hope for the best! Hope that you have a relaxing evening, and take good care, Thanks, Tom.
*Btw, got to meet Beto O’Rourke this afternoon with about 100 other folks at a restaurant. Suffice to say, he has my support!! Great afternoon listening to him, and cheering him on!

  3. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, defending Kelly’s LIE:

“If you want to get into a debate with the four-star Marine general, I think that’s something highly inappropriate. Go ahead.”

    Question for Sanders:

And in what country would that be inappropriate?

You’re not referring to America, are you?!?

  4. If personhood is defined as beginning at conception, that opens a Costco-size can of worms. Every miscarriage will have to be investigated as a homicide. Pregnant women will be permitted to drive in HOV lanes even if nobody else is in the car – and considering the way people cheat to use HOV lanes, a lot of ladies are going to stuff pillows under their shirts to pull that stunt. What happens when said life gets conceived in one country and born in another? Lawyers will be licking their chops. At least the ravenous Prison-Industrial Complex will be assured a steady stream of fodder – not just women caught with anything that could cause an abortion (“But how was I to know there were (sniff, sniff) wire coat hangers in the back of my closet?”) or those accused of seeking the procedure, but all the neglected children who will turn to crime in order to survive.

  5. YT/Move-On:  THIS is just the kind of thing that could last for a long, long time, even after, I hope, the Empty Orange is long gone from the W.H.!
Kelly and Huckabee:  Anyone working for the Empty Orange, is either twisted before he/she gets there, or, more probably was twisted in the first place- twisted enough to have been considered for a job with tRump, or, (I’m trying to be compassionate here) thought she/he could help protect the country from him, and then caught the tRump virus!  Kelly was an unknown to me before he took the job, Huckabee is….a Huckabee.
‘Toon: I’m proud of you, as well, TC.  and proud that I was in the march against the war, at the Pentagon.  “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” Jiddu Krishnamurti “Think for yourself and let others enjoy the privilege of doing so.” Voltaire  Being against an unjust war IS patriotic, and a sign that one can think for oneself. (Not meant as bragging)

  6. Puzzle — 3:19 Pretty but nothing to eat Puddy Tat unless you settle for bugs and grass!

MoveOn — “…it has been standard Republican misogyny that the right to life begins at conception, and standard Republican misanthropy that it ends at birth.” And the proposed budget is proof of that — cuts to SNAP, child and maternal health programme, slashing NIH budget, cuts to Medicaid, and I am sure there are others that I am forgetting.

New Yorker — “It looks like standard Republican Reich raving to me.”  Me too!  It also looks like Andy is still straight reporting.

TRMS — I listened to this as well as Lawrence O’Donnell and Ari Melber — all very interesting.  There is an old saying that goes “If you lie down with dogs, you get fleas.”  If Kelly did not have fleas before working with Drumpf, he sure does now.  But after listening to Lawrence, I am of the opinion that he has his own set of fleas — racism and misogyny.  After all this, I wonder how long Kelly will stay with the administration.

Cartoon — I was 15 years old at the time but the Vietnam War did not the same impact since Canada was not involved.  Of course we saw the news and there were some Canadians who enlisted in the US military.  Had Canada joined the US, I would have been protesting too.

  7. MO: Of course this administration/GOP had to sneak this new policy in by hiding it under the covers of some “strategic plan”; no sane government would come up with this. This is pushing the fringe beliefs of a few religious fanatics down the throat of all American women. We’re all up in arms these days about men forcing their sexual ‘attention’ on women, and rightly so, but how about these men forcing their religious beliefs on women? Where’s the #METOO equivalence #OHNOYOUDONT?

TNY: You had me going there for a while, Andy. I didn’t notice your (TNY) tag until I finished reading the short take and got to TomCat’s comment. Yes, up to that point it was just the usual ravings coming out of the White House these days. Nameless then made it very clear that Sanders came very close to saying this by calling the statement of an four-star general into question “inappropriate”.

Rachel Maddow: Rachel end this item on a rather ominous note. When people in the White House were caught lying and were proven a liar, in the past that would lead to at least an apology and usually a stepping down too. “But these are different times,” she end. Yes, they are. The government has reached the end of the slippery slope and lying, character defamation and defending a senile president no matter the costs have now become the norm. No more apologies, no more retractions, no more stepping down. The GOP and the Drumpf clan will do anything to stay in power.

  8. Thanks all.  Ellipsoid Orb Hugs! 27
