I’m feeling tired, lethargic, and unmotivated, so it’s a good day for TGIF13!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:01 (average 4:50).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): Is Mueller Trying to Stop Trump From Pardoning People?

The only people Trump would pardon, other than family, are people, who know enough about his own crimes to be dangerous, if they flip.  Mueller would not have to investigate this, unless he intended to indict Trump, his family, or people who can spill the beans on Trump.  Wooo Hooo!! One possible way is to bring simultaneous indictments in state and federal court. RESIST!!

From Upworthy: The city’s government unveiled an ambitious plan to ban gas-powered cars from the city by the end of the next decade.

"We have planned the end of thermic vehicle use, and therefore of fossil energies, by 2030," Christophe Nadjovski, Paris deputy mayor in charge of transportation, told France Info radio.

The city’s mayor, Anne Hidalgo, had already announced a plan to ban diesel-powered vehicles from the city by 2024.

Bravo à la France! RESIST!!

From Washington Post: President Trump is throwing a bomb into the insurance marketplaces created under the Affordable Care Act, choosing to end critical payments to health insurers that help millions of lower-income Americans afford coverage. The decision coincides with an executive order on Thursday to allow alternative health plans that skirt the law’s requirements.

The White House confirmed late Thursday that it would halt federal payments for cost-sharing reductions, although a statement did not specify when. Another statement a short time later by top officials at the Health and Human Services Department said the cutoff would be immediate. The subsidies total about $7 billion this year.

Trump has threatened for months to stop the payments, which go to insurers that are required by the law to help eligible consumers afford their deductibles and other out-of-pocket expenses. But he held off while other administration officials warned him such a move would cause an implosion of the ACA marketplaces that could be blamed on Republicans, according to two individuals briefed on the decision.

Health insurers and state regulators have been in a state of high anxiety over the prospect of the marketplaces cratering because of such White House action. The fifth year’s open-enrollment season for consumers to buy coverage through ACA exchanges will start in less than three weeks, and insurers have said that stopping the cost-sharing payments would be the single greatest step the Trump administration could take to damage the marketplaces — and the law.

Trump’s idiocy is a major abuse of power. The job of the executive branch is to enforce existing law, not to refuse to enforce whatever the moron doesn’t like. It will also kill thousands of people, many of whom will be the deplorable idiots that voted for him. RESIST!!

  1. KO: Boy, it just gets DEEPER, and THICKER w/each passing day! Can’t wait till this is all brought up out into the light!!!

Upworthy: I’m all for this. I don’t see my state embracing it though, but we’ll see…

WP: Gawd, this is awful, and sickening! He has no heart, mind, or empathy for the citizens. Crazy basturd!! Yeah….RESIST!!!

Cartoon: Adorable! Used to have two black cats, they were rescues and so very sweet!

Have a yard full of leaves, should rake them but I’m like you. I’ll do it tomorrow. lol. Hope you have a great relaxing evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  2. Trump’s idiocy is so evident, all around him, and even Faux News broadcast him telling the world that “I went to Texas, went to Louisiana, I went to the Virgin Islands, and spoke to the president of the Virgin Islands.”  Does this bozo even know how to spell IQ?
Keith: No time to watch it,now, but, apparently, Muller is working to pardon-proof any criminal action, as he ought to, in my book.
Upworthy: Of course, this happens in Europe, where reality holds much more sway over the consciousness than here.  Good for them!
WP: This example of piss-poor protoplasm with the orange tinge is now going to be responsible for numerous deaths, without, now, even starting his very own, a-la G.W.Bush, military action.

  3. 5:02  Need to run this morning.

Happy Bosses’ Day, TC!  (OK, I’m early, it’s Monday, but better early than late.)

Keith # 134 – What a collection of no-goodniks Keith runs through.  Don’t even get me started in Julian Assange.  I would disagree that “U.S. Intelligence missed it.  Russian Intelligence stole their President.”  U.S. Intelligence did not miss it.  But Republicans – notably Mitch McConnell – blackmailed the administration to prevent the information from being made public.  I certainly wish all the best to Mr. Dreeben.  The Republicans are doing everything they can to discredit him, including lies (and what else is new?)

Upworthy – Vive la France indeed!  I hope they are advanced than we are (as they probably are) – between my finances and my limited mobility I’d be hard pressed indeed to replace my van by 2030.  (Although I may not be around by then.)

WaPo – Can’t add to what you said, although if anyone wants more details than the average person would need, I recommend going to Daily Kos and searching fot the member “Brainwrap.”  He sometimes comes off as a know-it-all, but on the ACA he pretty well really does know it all.

Cartoon – Ooooh!  Come cross my path any time!

  4. Keith has great points about tRump. tRump won’t know what to expect from Mueller’s investigation! That is the best thing that he can do! They are SO secret that the president doesn’t know what they are doing and when they are doing it! FANFRIKKENTASTIC!!! The investigation is more leak-proof than the WH! That just cracks me up!
Way to go, Paris! Oo la la! No more thermal fuel in the city! We should be doing the same nationwide!!!
The idiocy of the incomprehensible actions of #45! It SURE WILL KILL a LOT of people!!! And make life unbearable for a lot MORE!!! I know that we will be part of that group. And I am PISSED!!! That friggen sorry POS! We are in the depths of hell now! I hate to think of what it will be like when his hand gets in the mix of mine and your HEALTHCARE!!! Oh! Woe is US! PLEASE get RID of this septic tank of a president!!! We will lose a lot of our amenities because of this. Amenities like electric, or water, or heat. The internet will be the first to go. Then TV stations. Of we can’t break even on that, we will have to go to the gas. If the electric goes, there goes the water, too. SOMEONE PLEASE! Get rid of this boil on the face of our COUNTRY!!! ? ? ? ?

Thanks for the heads up, TC. I’ll hopefully see you later!

  5. Keith Olbermann #134: Keith’s analysis of Mueller investigating Drumpf’s pardoning power is undoubtedly correct. Mueller is not writing some law thesis on the subject, he’s looking for ways to challenge these pardons when Drumpf needs to issue them as a last resort to stop Mueller from indicting him, his family or his team, or any combination thereof.
It all may take far too long for most us, but I think we can rest assured that Mueller will have a solid and airtight case against many people currently scuttling about in the White House and its vicinity when he finally presents it to Congress.

Upworthy: An example which indeed should be followed by all large cities, although I’m not sure I understand why the mayor of Paris speaks about banning gas-powered cars after banning diesel-powered vehicles. I can only assume that she’s not talking about cars powered by so called green gas, which is compatible in every sense with electricity. The cities should however realize they need to invest in public transport and electrical charge points on a massive scale if they want to ban polluting vehicles. And all governments should invest massively in viable alternatives for trucks and lorries which are now mainly powered by diesel. The city needs to surround itself with relay stations where goods going into cities are distributed over numerous small electrical lorries which then will bring them to their destination. At the moment the trend is in the opposite direction to ever larger trucks clogging up the cities.

WP: First the Republicans conveniently forgot to extend the budget for children’s health care, now Drumpf highhandedly cuts off millions from the ACA marketplace. In fact the GOP and Drumpf are doing exactly what they would do if the couldn’t repeal Obamacare: strangle it to death and leave millions without. So what if they don’t replace it with Drumpfcare; the poor and those dependent most on good health care covering were going to get cut off, replacement or not. This idiot is playing with lives of people as if he were god. And by now he probably thinks he is too. Get him out of there before he does even more harm.

My Friday the 13th was a nice and uneventful day. Hope yours was too, TomCat, even after crossing paths with Republicans (I presume) disguised as a black cat. And now it’s up to Wendy to wash the black coal dust out of your fur again, huh? Shame on you 21
