It’s Monday.  I’m not taking a nap this morning, because I had a lot of paperwork to so, and now that it’s done, I’ll just write earlier than usual and publish right after lunch.  That’s probably a good thing, because I’m battling a mild case of Republicosis again.  I seem to have that more often since my gall bladder was removed, so I think I’m going to cut out stool softeners, except for when I have Republicitis.  In the other hand, that might not be it.  Since there has been an asshole in the White House, mine has decided to RESIST!! Sad smile

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:34 (average 5:04).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Media Matters: Buzzfeed News has obtained and published “an explosive cache of documents” confirming Breitbart as the mouthpiece for neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the racist right-wing movement known as the alt-right. Buzzfeed’s entire report on Breitbart management’s courting of neo-Nazis and white supremacists can be found here.

Breitbart actively courted and solicited neo-Nazis and white supremacist leaders for stories, even allowing them to contribute ideas and kill stories [emphasis original]

Click through. This is too horrid to ignore. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: San Francisco 49ers Safety Eric Reid had something to say after his team lost to the Indy Colts in overtime — 26-23 — the game which Vice-Resident Mike Pence staged a planned publicity stunt walk out on to whine-protest players exercising the first amendment rights to protest the extra judicial executions of young black men by bad police officers.

Talking to reporters in the locker room Reid said:

"My honest reaction: … Does anybody know the last time he’s (Pence) been to a football game? With that being said, he tweeted out a three-year-old photo of him at a Colts game, so with the information I have, the last time he was at a Colts game was three years ago. So this looks like a PR stunt to me. He knew our team has had the most players protest. He knew that we were probably going to do it again. This is what systemic oppression looks like. A man with power comes to the game, tweets a couple of things out and leaves the game with an attempt to thwart our efforts. Based on the information I have, that’s the assumption I’ve made."

I’d say that’s a safe assumption Eric, and well stated.

I’d say it’s a safe assumption too, since Trump has admitted telling Pence to leave.  WE paid for one damn pricey photo-op!  RESIST!!

From NY Times: The White House on Sunday delivered to Congress a long list of hard-line immigration measures that President Trump is demanding in exchange for any deal to protect the young undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers, imperiling a fledgling bipartisan push to reach a legislative solution.

Before agreeing to provide legal status for 800,000 young immigrants brought here illegally as children, Mr. Trump will insist on the construction of a wall across the southern border, the hiring of 10,000 immigration agents, tougher laws for those seeking asylum and denial of federal grants to “sanctuary cities,” officials said.

As much as I want to protect the dreamers, Trump is charging too high a price in his Republican oppression of other undocumented Latinos and their families.  RESIST!!

  1. So cute!  I believe Guinea pigs have a lot of fiber (well, they eat it and live in it), so it might not be so good for you just now.  (Having had abdominal surgery myself, decades ago, I think you are right about the gall bladder.)

Hope you are surviving the smoke that I see is all up and down the left coast.

MM – I’m a teeny bit confused.  I though this was already known.  But will be reading it anyway.

DKos – Eric Reid is no dummy.  But many people are.  And they don’t have to convince us.  It’s the dummies they need to convince.  That’s what we have to figure out how to fight.  And, alas, facts won’t do it.

NYT – If Congressfolk would vote with their constituents, the clean DREAM Act would have a veto-proof majority.  I might like to live long enough to see it, but IF it ever happens, it will take too damned long.

    Cartoon –

  2. Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

  3. MM: In a July speech in Warsaw “that was celebrated by the alt-right,” President Trump used a line from a Breitbart story that Buzzfeed reported was “all but line-edited by a white nationalist.” Bannon is feeding dt. Scary, mean, vile stuff there. ugh!

DK: Excellent comment, Kudos to Mr. Reid! A Pence stunt that backfired, and an expensive one at that (air travel), to the taxpayers.

Cartoon: Here, it was a staff development day for the schools, students out. Happy Indigenous/Native American Day.

My guys lost. Nuff said. Hope that you have a good, relaxing evening. Take care, and Thanks, Tom.

    *Nameless: Powerful picture!! Thank you!

  4. MM: No surprise.
DK: I saw that earlier, sent it to all of my e-mail list.  It is amazing how the “real” fake news comes right form the fake president, and company.  Mr. super religious, born-again Pence might be interested in reading about the one VERY CLEAR prohibition in Revelations:
Chapter 21:27 and chapter 22:15—Those who lie will not enter the City of God…and who lies more than the Republican Pseudo-Christians?

  5. MM: I had the same reaction Joanne had: didn’t we already know this. Admittedly, the article gives a lot of proof that Breitbart is little more than the mouthpiece for everything extreme right, and the extend of it is certainly shocking. But it isn’t news in the sense that it is new or unknown. Investigative journalism like that would do better if they could prove that the links between Breitbart, Bannon and the White House are still as strong as ever.

DK: Of course it was a stunt and this time I believe Drumpf he told Price to walk out – well, maybe have hinted Price to do so – because Drumpf may be the lousiest President ever, but he knows how to put on a show. The irony is indeed that it’s all at the expense of the protesting players, taxpayers and football fans: Pence and his entourage will have been given the best seats of the house as well as the usual protection as soon as Pence indicated he wanted to come and see the game.

NYT: This king’s ransom is much to high a price to pay for Dreamers and is nothing but foul extortion. And where is the money for these ‘demands’ coming from? From tax cuts? You’d think this will not sit well with The Freedom Caucus. Is Drumpf finally overplaying his hand with the GOP?

Cartoon: Blue states will undoubtedly follow Oregon’s example and celebrate Indigenous People Day instead. Red states not so much.

I don’t think your stool softeners are to blame for your Republicosis, TomCat, but some part of your diet may be. It’s different for everyone, but for instance coffee is known to be problematic to a lot of people who had their gallbladder taken out. Do some research on the internet to find the foodstuffs that raise your bile (production) before you give yourself a case of severe Republicitis. And natural fibers like wheat and oat bran are always preferable to pills of course.

    • I am NEVER going to give up my coffee.  I gave up smoking.  I gave up alternate smoking, I gave up drinking.  I gave up sex, although I would rescind that one if I could remember how.  Coffee is all I have left! 05

  6. JD and Lona, we did know about it.  What surprised me is the extent to which it is happening.

    Thanks all!  Hugs! 20
