I didn’t get the sleep I had hoped I would.  It was just to hot and sticky.  Today is the last hot one, before several days of more temperate weather.  Please pardon my brevity.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:50 (average 4:30).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Religious Ecstasy:

Phew!  They came so close to screwing the pooch that I damn near had a heart attack!  They blocked a field goal with 1 second on the clock.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): How Did Trump Remember 9/11?

It’s obvious enough. His handlers frog-marched him to the microphone to make his canned statement, but without power, profit, or pussy for him to grab, he had no real interest. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: CBS ignited a firestorm of controversy on Sunday night after it broadcast a shockingly graphic horror program [Bannon] without any viewer advisory.

Millions of viewers who unwittingly tuned in to the highly upsetting program recoiled in revulsion and took to social media to rip CBS.

“It’s appalling to think that you would even consider broadcasting such a thing at seven o’clock, when children could be watching,” one viewer wrote. “Shame on CBS.”

Another irate viewer complained that he was “in total disbelief” that CBS would air such disturbing content with no warning preceding it. “I may never get those nightmarish images out of my head,” he wrote.

Dang Andy! They should have included a Barf Bag Alert!! RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: As Hurricane Irma sweeps up the western Florida coast, the Trump "administration" will be wasting no time in demanding … "dramatic tax cuts."

“We will discussing our plan for dramatic tax cuts and tax reform. And I think now with what’s happened with the hurricane, I’m going to ask for a speed-up,” Trump said at the opening of a cabinet meeting at Camp David. “I wanted a speed-up anyway but now we need it even more so.”

If billionaires were injuring their backs carrying excess money to the bank, Republicans would still propose tax cuts that rip wealth from the poor, the middle class, hurricane victims, and especially YOU to provide even more welfare for the 0.1%. RESIST!!

  1. 5:12  Well, you can certainly tell how my allergies are doing from my puzzle times.  (Not the absolute numbers, but the rough per cent over or under average.)

SO glad your Broncos won for you!

Keith # 119 – Exploitation and politicization of grief.  Isn’t that the truth.  And, of course, because grief is so relentlessly politicized and exploited, it’s no surprise so many people wonder whether every incident of mass grief is really a false flag, constructed only to be politicized.

With Trump being so cavalier about this particular, defining incident of mass grief, how can we not wonder what he is planning to eclipse it with.

TNY – Just LOOKING at Bannon requires a barf bag alert.  And he IS old enough to have the face he deserves, by any standard.

DKos – Hardly unexpected, but still deplorable.

Cartoon – Failed photo ops:  1.  This.  2.  Paul Ryan washing clean pots and pans.

  2. KO: Right from his heart. dt doesn’t give one iota about anybody, or anything, just his bloated self.

NYer: Yes, I felt the same way while viewing the video. BBA!!

DK: Greedy, self serving id’s. Every single one of them.

    Cartoon: Pathetic and sad.

Glad to see your guys won! Yea, that was a close call too at the end, by your comment. My guys play the Bengals this TH. We’ll see how they do. Nice to read that your temps are going down to where it will be nice and comfortable for y’all. Get some rest, have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. So glad they blocked that field goal! I couldn’t watch after the Chargers made their last score. I was expecting them to end up losing and I was so mad. I changed the channel after I lost my game on FF.
Andy was so spot on, I thought it was REAL! So close to the CRAP that is going on now!
    Thanks,TC!

  4. Puzzle — 3:52  I don’t think that boat will sail far!  Don’t get your paws wet Puddy Tat!

Fantasy Football — Yes, but this is only week one.  I am just getting warmed up!

YouTube — So the twit did not tweet a message of remembrance on 9/11.  Given that he harped on the thousands of “Muslims” he said he saw cheering on the hijacker’s attack; given that first responders out did themselves in responding to the emergency; given that 9/11 forms a part of the American psyche now, Drumpf should have at least acknowledged that without prompting half a day later.  But wait, it isn’t about himself, so it isn’t important in his pea-sized brain.

The New Yorker — Only the strong of stomach or the totally stupid could watch that slug without barfing.

Daily Kos — Welfare for the .1% indeed!  The tax cuts have absolutely nothing to do with the hurricane recovery, nothing!  The people that need the help the most and have the least resources won’t get it.  Opportunists all, Drumpf and the Republicans.  I hope Dems push back til it hurts and I hope the electorate bring pressure to bear like they did with healthcare.

Cartoon — “After 16 years, neither does his successor.”  Don’t you mean the next Republican to occupy the WH, not Obama who was GWB’s successor?  If it isn’t just 140 characters, Drumpf can’t read and understand anything.

  5. Keith Olbermann #119: Excellent question, Keith. Why didn’t Drumpf twitter on the morning of 9/11? Most likely his caretakers prevented him from doing so, knowing they had his speech ready on teleprompter and until he had read that aloud, any tweet beforehand would have undone anything the written-for-him-speech said beforehand too. And Drumpf being the terrible-twos kid he is, wouldn’t let any of those caretakers close to his twitter account either, just to spite them.

TNY: You’re so right Andy, they could have given an official warning:

DK: WOW, how’s that for a slap in the face of all hurricane victims? Please hand out some of the barf bags featured here.

Cartoon: And we thought HE was dumb.

You must be happy with your Bronco’s win, TomCat, but alas, it didn’t compensate for the muggy heat, I fear.

  6. Thanks all.  Hugs! 23

  7. Unfortunately, the picture in the cartoon was photoshopped. Still doesn’t distract from the message.
