Isolating the Fuhrer

If I had a nickel for every time I’ve said that the Reich on the Left, Robert Reich, is virtually always right, we could all retire.  Therefore it will probably come as a shock to you to learn that I think the Reich on the Left is wrong, when he says that Trump can be effectively removed by isolating him.  While I agree that he could be removed, up to a point, I don’t think there would be anything effective about it.

With Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, it’s unlikely Trump will be impeached or thrown out of office on grounds of mental impairment. At least any time soon.

Yet there’s another way Trump can be effectively removed. He can be made irrelevant.

It’s already starting to happen. The howling manchild who occupies the Oval Office is being cut off and contained…

From <Robert Reich>

First, click through and read the rest of Robert’s article.

The first problem is one that Robert brought up himself.  He could still start a nuclear war.  If the media were to stop reporting on Trump’s tweets, as Robert suggests, that would deprive Trump of the attention he craves.  He would become so desperate for attention that he would do whatever it takes to get some, and a fully isolated Trump would start a nuclear war to do it.

There is another problem.  When it comes to all the evil Trump wants to do, he is not the real problem.  The only difference between Trump and the rest of the Republican Party is that he is blatant about it, while they are sneaky about it.   His racist rants are no different than their dog whistles.  Suppressing Black and Latino voters was just as racist, before Trump was even a candidate, as his support for Alt-Right Nazis was last Tuesday.  If Republicans isolate Trump they can falsely claim they have dealt with the problem.  Millions of sheeple will see that on Faux Noise, say BA-A-A-A, and go back to sleep.  At least with Trump front and center, he keeps outrage high among far more Americans.

RESIST THE REPUBLICAN REICH!!

  1. Making him irrelevant can’t hurt, but no, it won’t solve the problem.  The only small advantage making him irrelevant has over removing him is that making him irrelevant doesn’t give Mike Pence the nuclear codes.  Well, we can all hope THAT won’t always be the case.

  2. Lordy, it gets worse every day, doesn’t it?The gop’ers are just as guilty as they’ve let him act like a child having a tantrum, and not having the fortitude to stand up against him. We also don’t want a sneaky snake (Pence or Ryan) in control either. What a cluster.
    Thanks, Tom.

  3. There are no decent solutions to the situation we are in, and there is no decent person anywhere near the leadership of the GOPigs!

  4. Sounds like the “cordon sanitaire” the Belgian politicians kept up around an increasingly popular extremist right wing party a few years back. That worked, because it was kept up in unison within parliament, on the streets and in the media. In the end that party disappeared from view and was replaced by a much milder and sensible right-wing party.

So Drumpf may indeed be rendered harmless for the rest of his time. If he is persuaded to render the nuclear button to someone else, that is, and why would he do that? And then what is America left with? Officially still headed by a senile madman, but unofficially run by his unelected children and the equally incompetent GOP/Freedom Caucus? Americans may think all will be good if Drumpf is twittering in isolation, but to the world outside his padded new office, and to his base, he’ll still be the man in charge.

Not one of Reich’s stronger articles, I’m afraid. 01

  5. As my mother said to my soon to be stepfather back in 1967: “It is a package deal . . . it’s me and the kids or nothing!”

Drumpf and the GOP are a package deal . . . and they are deplorable.  The GOP enabled Drumpf by not putting a leash on him.  They were so into having majorities in the House and the Senate thereby working their agenda with little interference, that they, like Daniel Webster, made a pact with the devil.  That devil has a name . . . Drumpf.  Now they are seeing just how bad that pact is.  The GOP cannot control him, and he is not a team player.

I said earlier today that ignoring Drumpf is the same as remaining silent.  And silence is consent.

I also think that ignoring him would only inflame the situation because Drumpf always wants to be front and centre, always the most important (he demonstrated that at the NATO meeting where he shoved other heads of state to get to the front) . . . the Narcissist-in-Chief.  Let’s not forget the football!  He’ll never give that up and with it, he can blow the world to smithereens.  And I think he is vengeful enough to do it, and stupid enough to think such action would not affect the US.

No resist until it hurts, and resist some more.  When the opportunity presents itself (November 2018), take out as many Republicans as possible . . . take back the Senate and House which will leave Drumpf impotent until 2020 when he can be taken out with the trash.

  6. Thanks, hugs, and AMEN to all! 29
