I overslept this morning and have been running behind ever since.  Tonight my Broncos go to worship in San Francisco.  Rumor has it that their opponents are all tight ends and wide receivers. Winking smile  I shall be meditating on the Holy Ellipsoid Orb, of course.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:10 (average 5:05).  To do it, click here.  The color is putrid!  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): Still Making Excuses for Trump? | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann

Am I the only one experiencing Deja vu? RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Brad Thomas is the author of The Trump Factor—whatever the hell that is—and an advisory member of Trump’s league-of-people-who-are-disappointing-their-families. He was on Velshi and Rhule’s MSNBC show trying to do some damage control for the Trump administration after a slew of CEOs decided being a part of the president of the United States’ council was bad for business.

All journalists should nail Republican liars to prevent them from spewing their disingenuous propaganda just like that! RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Attacking the media for its “very unfair” coverage of Monday’s solar eclipse, Donald J. Trump said on Saturday that the sun was equally to blame for blocking the moon.

“The fake news is covering the eclipse from the sun’s side instead of the moon’s side, but if you look at it from the moon’s side the sun is blocking the moon’s side,” he said. “There are so many sides you can’t count all the sides.”

Additionally, Trump tore into the sun itself, calling it a “showboat” for its role in the solar eclipse.

“The sun thinks the world revolves around it,” Trump said. “Sad.”

Andy, after this week, even that could be straight news. RESIST!!

  1. 5:19  The colors hurt my eyes a little.

New Amy McGrath commercial (from the McGrath campaign, but being promoted by VoteVets)

Keith # 108 – Oh good Lord!  “But her emails!”  I always loved Art Buchwald, and I’ll bet you did too, TC.  Probably several of the rest of us old coots (and cootesses) too.

DKos – LOL!  I’ll take it that he knows his own portfolio.  But he doesn’t know enough not to try to BS the experts?  Well, OK, he’s a Republican.

TNY – Durned good illustration of the particular dumbness that is Republican.

Cartoon – Oh, that poor little elephant!  And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why the Republican party needs a new symbol which both better represents it and also better deserves what they deserve.  I would recommend the anopheles mosquito – except that scientists are coming close to making it harmless.  How about the poop emoji?

  2. KO: Excellent video! Keep up the great work, Keith!
Got to go, there’s a fire going on at the State Park! Hope they contain it, there’s 4 FD over there now.
    Thanks, Tom.

  3. I’ve spent far too much time on trying to see the must-see videos in your other articles, TomCat, so I’ll be as short as I can be with your Open Thread.

Keith Olbermann #108: Uncanny, Art Buchwald’s 20/20 foresight. Great job of bringing this 44-year-old column back in the news, Keith. History does repeat itself. Now let’s hope that Drumpf and all his enablers suffer a worse fate than Nixon did and nobody is pardoned.

DK: Kudos to Velshi and Rhule. It may be a bit late, but it’s good to see that some journalists and TV hosts are finally getting their act together, do their job as they’re supposed to and only allow truth and facts to go unchallenged.

TNY: Andy’s columns of the past weeks should be labeled:

and this goes for the cartoon too.

  4. Puzzle — 4:27  I like the purple, but that orange . . . it is putrid, just like the Orange Ogre.

YouTube — Fast forward to 2017 and I could see “What about Chappaquiddick?” (I remember Chappaquiddick)being replaced by “What about her e-mails?”.  Certainly Drumpf brings it up often enough.  I remember the name Art Buchwald, but I am a bit younger than many of you (although still a senior citizen) and live in a different country where his work was not centre stage so my familiarity is limited.

Daily Kos — Brad Thomas, Trump sycophant, just had his ass kicked by knowledgeable journalists that would not let him get away with spewing garbage and challenged him all the way.

The New Yorker —  I know this is satire but this is so Drumpfian, it could easily be straight news.  To boot, Drumpf is so anti science that this is plausible.

Cartoon — Republican on the hot seat spewing lots of crap!

I slept in Saturday until 1450 hours, something I have never done before.  But as a result, I am still awake.  By Sunday night, I am sure that I will be ready for a regular sleep.  Can you imagine, my furbabes did not even wake me up, as hungry as they were by that hour.

  5. Thanks all!  Pooped Hugs! 22
