Yesterday’s eye appointment was completely successful.  My right eye is 20/20, and my left eye is scheduled for cataract surgery on 7/28.  The only bad news is that I’ll need to wait six months before a plastic surgeon can correct the excessive droop in my eyelids, and three months after that before my left eye can be surgically repaired to point straight.  So it will be spring before the long process of seeing right again is finally done.  The temperatures are back in the 80°s, so I’m back on AC, but at least it isn’t murderous!  I hope you’re having a great day!

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): Trump And Charlottesville: Too Little, Too Late | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann

Keith says what we have all been saying, buy more of it. However, calling Trump filth insults filth. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: A disturbing hostage video surfaced on Monday showing an American man woodenly reciting words that were not his own.

The video, which was broadcast on all the major news networks, raised concerns for the man, whose robotic performance indicated that he was reading a prepared statement under duress.

While the man appeared well fed and, to a certain extent, healthy, his facial expressions and body language convinced experts that the act of reciting the prepared text was an extraordinary ordeal for him.

Harland Dorrinson, a forensic psychologist, compared the man’s performance with hours of earlier footage of him and said that the man had “never expressed these sentiments before.”

Dang Andy! That’s NOT satire! RESIST!!

From NY Times: The white supremacists and right-wing extremists who came together over the weekend in Charlottesville, Va., are now headed home, many of them ready and energized, they said, to set their sights on bigger prizes.

Some were making arrangements to appear at future marches. Some were planning to run for public office. Others, taking a cue from the Charlottesville event — a protest, nominally, of the removal of a Confederate-era statue — were organizing efforts to preserve white heritage symbols in their home regions.

Calling it “an opportune time,” Preston Wiginton, a Texas-based white nationalist, declared on Saturday that he planned to hold a “White Lives Matter” march on Sept. 11 on the campus of Texas A&M — with a keynote speaker, Richard B. Spencer, who was featured at the Charlottesville event.

These Republican Alt-Right Nazis are emboldened because they literally got away with murder with the tacit support of the US Resident. RESIST!!

  1. 5:34  Just couldn’t get my eye-hand coordination to work.

Keith # 106 – Putting blame where it belongs.  “Accessory after the fact”?  How about before the fact?  His words, and actions, and his silences, emboldened the Nazis to go to Charlottesville and to use violence.  I suppose that’s not provable in a court of law, whereas after the fact is.  Incidentally, there is NOTHING one could call Trump that wouldn’t be insulted by the comparison, and I include shitgibbons and Republicans.

TNY – It didn’t fool anyone, least of all the actual white supremacists, who are still all “He loves us!”  Trump “may tell that to the marines, for the sailors won’t believe it.”

NYT – Thr bright side of the coin is that they have also emboldened many people, politicians and citizens, to embark on projects of removing many more monuments to treachery.  But that very fact suggests that, yes, worse things are coming.

    Cartoon – AAAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHH !!!!

    RESIST AND PERSIST !!

  2. KO: I watched this, this morning. It’s so horribly, horribly sad about this tragedy, and yet… “He said Nothing.”. (dt). Personally, imho….he’s a two-faced BassTurd.

NYer: He (dt) feigns sadness, while gleefully clapping behind American’s backs….see above.

NYT: I agree w/your comment. This meeting has been cancelled, at A&M, (as it rightfully should have). Dated 8/14/17 “After consultation with law enforcement and considerable study, Texas A&M is cancelling the event scheduled by Preston Wiginton at Rudder Plaza on campus on September 11 because of concerns about the safety of its students, faculty, staff, and the public.” Read more at: http://today DOT tamu DOT edu/2017/08/14/texas-am-cancels-911-event-reservation/http://today.tamu.edu/2017/08/14/texas-am-cancels-911-event-reservation/

    Cartoon: Sad.

Good news about your eyes, with each step towards completion. We’re currently at 99 today, and seems like it will be hot the rest of the week here. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. Yes, the words that emanated from the northern sphincter of the Pres. of scuz were, indeed, not his, utterly uncharacteristic of him! The words about “both sides” could very well have been either his, or Bannon’s!  What odious gall, and BS!!!!!!!!  Hopefully, he will alienate all but the most hard core crazies, before he melts like the wicked witch.

  4. Puzzle — 3:30  No dawg fricassée tonight Puddy Tat!

Fantasy Football — Is this Wendy your Wendy?  I assume it is and that is GREAT!!!  But, NO collusion!!!

YouTube — Keith: “He said nothing!” — Worse!  In his 3 days late little speech, he said:

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms, this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence.  It has no place in America and as I have said many times before, no matter the colour of our skin, we all live under the same laws.  We all salute the same great flag.”

Does anyone else see just how hollow Drumpf’s statement is about the happenings in Charlottesville?  During the campaign, he incited violence.  He used racist language.  He discriminated against women and the disabled.  So anything he says now, whether it had been on the day of the violence or 3 days later, rings hollow, very hollow.  I do not believe he meant any of it.  He must be removed!

The New Yorker — “…an American man woodenly reciting words that were not his own.” — When I saw Drumpf’s initial comment on Charlottesville, that is exactly how I thought of him.  There was no emotion, no passion, nothing.  He was very obviously just reading someone else’s words which had no meaning to him.  Add that to my comment above.  Drumpf is a hollow man, bereft of any humanity.

NY Times — The white supremacists and rightwing extremists, who are no different than any other extremist such as Islamic extremists, have now taken a page out of the Tea Party handbook and are aiming at local governments and state governments.  They cannot succeed.  They must not succeed or the US will see a repeat of Nazi Germany.

Robert Reich’s article — Making America Hate Again — is very interesting and posits: Trump Is Trying to Start a Civil War.  To me, with all his chicanery and wooden words, his failure to denounce the white supremacists, neo Nazis and radical right, that is exactly what it looks like.  And why . . . to cement his power as a fascist dictator.

Cartoon — Inspector Goosestep is quoting Drumpf!  Arrggghhhh!!!!!

That is good news about the visit to the ophthalmologist!  Perhaps until the eyelid surgery, you could use scotch tape.  We used wooden matchsticks but it seems they are hard to come by.  Just teasing!  Things are really looking up (pun not intended) and I am really happy for you.  Does this mean that your jigsaw times will get faster?

  5. Keith Olberman #106: Keith may be right, legally Drumpf can’t be held personally responsible for this horrendous act of domestic terrorism, but morally he is. At the rally David Duke has said when interviewed, that this gathering of all extreme right groups was to realize Drumpf’s agenda and to take America back. So what was done, was done in Drumpf’s name. That makes him morally responsible in my book.
Sadly, things go very quickly in Drumpf land: Since this video was made. Drumpf has made a statement under even more duress than the first one, condemning the KKK, white supremacists and some more, and yesterday he undid it all when he went unscripted again, blew his top and started blaming the alt-left (does that even exist?) again for being equally violent. I think it’s time to bring out a home made cartoon that’s been lying on the shelf awaiting Drumpf’s last death throws as a president. Sadly I probably will have to keep putting it up for a long time to come:

TNY: Andy, it is a very strange sensation to read back my own words in your column.

NYT: When I read this article, which gave a long list of events the alt-right has planned for the near future, my blood ran cold. Add to this the sickening outburst of “the real Drumpf” yesterday and I can’t help thinking that, after failing to start a war in Asia or one in Venezuela, Drumpf is hell bent on starting a civil war at home, all to divert from Mueller’s investigation and the subpoena that are about to be sent to the White House.  He really is in deep sh!t and panicking.

Cartoon: Alt-right calls it “stand your ground”, because the poor guy behind the wheel was scarred sh!tless by the violent attacks of the libruls and feared for his life. (As seen on the ABC news here last night). Probably an interview Drumpf saw too before he lost his ‘cool’ at the press conference for American manufacturing yesterday.

    • Glad your appointment went so well and delivered such excellent results, TomCat. I’m sure the operation in two weeks time will be a cinch for you.

  6. Thanks all.  Running out of gas.  Hugs! 19
