It’s that time of week again, and I’m happy to share three excellent video clips from Bill’s show last night.  Enjoy!!

Monologue: Fat Man and Little Boy

"Make America Glow Again!" I have to steal that for a cartoon.  In fact, I just did!

Richard Dawkins: Science in the Soul

As a Christian, I disagree with and oppose extreme evangelical atheist proselytizers, like Dawkins and Maher.  In fact, I oppose all heavy-duty proselyting, even when I agree with it.  However, I’d rather listen to them than to Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians.

New Rule: The Troll Party

The irony is that he was far too accurate to be funny.

Enjoy?  Break’s over!  Back to work!

  1. Bill I – Oh, Lord.  I’m not sure it’s a good thing that the universe has QUITE that much sense of humor! P.S. Does anyone besides me think that it isn’t clear which is which? That it could go either way?

Bill II – My theory is that Supply-side pseudo-Christians don’t think that atheists can’t be moral if they don’t believe in God is that THEY couldn’t be moral if they didn’t think they were being watched every second by an all-seeing all-knowing proctor.  Heck, they have enough trouble being moral when they DO think they are being watched!  It really doesn’t say anything negative about atheists as much as it says something negative about THEM.

Bill III – How I wish they would change the symbol odf the Republican Party!  Elephants have been a symbol of good luck for so long, that there is so much wonderful elephant art in the world, and we can’t appreciate it – at least not without feeling guilty on some level.  A troll would be a good symbol, yes … but the one he showed is WA-A-A-A-AY too cute.

  2. All good. I liked the Troll Party idea. It fits them.

    Thanks, Tom.

  3. Dawkins: “…ignorant, stupid, or insane.”  Precisely!!Much ignorance is fostered by the insistence on keeping one’s nose buried in those books considered to be holy books, and not acknowledging anything that does not jive with same.  As per a moment I referred to some time ago, in the  Friday Men’s socialization group that I have organized, a fellow commented that “We do not know,” about some big things like evolution, or the dispersion of humans across the globe, and so on.  I commented that we do, and offered to give him a book list about such things.  it occurred to me then, that those whom insist that only the bible’s version of history, now thought to be the 6,000 year old history of everything, are not apt to come across writings that present another view, and thus keep themselves ignorant of evidence, do not think people ought to use logic and rational discourse to approach ideas.  Then, there is this quote: “It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into,” by Jonathan Swift; sadly true, I’m afraid.  Rev.Hamm, who founded the “Creation Museum,” I will remind you, did so when he “…saw that the EVIDENCE for evolution was becoming overwhelming.” (emphasis mine).

  4. Bill Maher #1: Bill asks exactly the right question: “How close does this toddler have to get to the stove before the parents, the Republican Party, pick him up?” 03So glad Bill’s monologue is covered in a thick layer of humor, because its contents make me weep.

Bill Maher #2: Enjoyed that; Bill’s show is one of the few where scientists and atheists get the chance to point out how religions in their more extreme forms are putting their followers up against science in general. – and other people for that matter, with dire consequences for this planet.

Bill Maher #3: This time the bitter taste of very serious content was too strong to be covered by that thick layer of sweet humor. Trolls indeed, but then the Tolkien kind and not the sweet, fluffy-haired, plastic one.

    • And I agree that atheists need the same access as other belief/non-belief systems.  You and I prove that people of faith and atheists can get along. because we honor each other’s opinions.  I don’t object to the their atheism.  Both Dawkins and Maher try to shove it down others’ throats.  That’s my beef. 35

  5. I thoroughly enjoyed Bill tonight, especially the “Make America Glow Again” and the picture of “Fat Man and Little Boy”.  They’d go great with my dart board.  I’d get top points with those 2 trolls on the bull’s eye!

    Resist, Persist and Remove!!!

  6. Thanks all.  Tired hugs! 17
