Ammosexuals on Steroids!

I don’t have to tell you that Republicans are drop-dead Ammosexuals.  The love their Second Amendment solutions.  To them weapons are the hammer for every nail, screw, nut and bold, staple and even marshmallow.  But now, Republican Senators and Representatives have become Ammosexuals on steroids, and we’d better stop them.

The U.S. Congress is on the verge of authorizing new nuclear weapons, trashing a major Reagan-era arms control agreement and putting us on the road to a new arms race with Russia. This is a huge mistake that would put U.S. and global security at risk, and proves the old saying: Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

The number of nuclear weapons in the world has declined significantly since the end of the Cold War, and we continue, slowly, to progress toward disarmament. As Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Sunday, the 72nd anniversary of the U.S. bombing of Hiroshima, Japan would “firmly advance the movement toward a world without nuclear weapons.” Today, there are about 15,000 weapons left. Still far too many, but at least we are heading in the right direction.

And yet many in the Republican-controlled Congress now seem to have forgotten what got us this far: nuclear arms reduction agreements with Russia, negotiated mainly by Republican presidents. President Ronald Reagan signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in 1987, and President George H.W. Bush signed the START Treaty in 1991. Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama continued the process, most recently with the 2010 New START Treaty bringing U.S. and Russian arsenals down to levels not seen since the 1950s.

These agreements provide the “rules of the road” so arsenals can be reduced in a safe, stable and predictable way. No one wants surprises when it comes to nukes. They set equal limits on weapons, and allow for inspections so both sides can trust, and verify, the process.

Now, all of this is at risk. Republicans in both the House and Senate are promoting legislation to authorize a new nuclear-capable ground-launched cruise missile that would, if tested, violate the INF Treaty

From <Politico>

Of course, Republicans will blame Obama.  If the black man had not followed in the footsteps, of the rest, they would not need to remove the black stain from America’s nuclear policy.  What is the answer?  Every Republican in office is one Republican too many.

  1. Well, there are already some petitions –

    Action Network

    Credo Action

I’m sure there will be more, as well as opportunities to write personal messages and make phone calls.  And protests.  There will be protests.

I know one gets burned out on doing these things, but they do help.  Without all the participation, we would have lost Obamacare for sure (not that it’s out of the woods yet, of course.)

    • Thanks for the petition links, Joanne. This is a global issue and I’m glad some petitions allow people of other countries to sign. But when we’re looking at the possibility of a global war, I do not hesitate to sign as an American  on others, something I normally refrain from doing.

  2. I am Resisting vehemently on this one, for sure!!*Joanne, had signed previously. Got the ole man to do it too! l.o.l. !!!

  3. Legislation, and the developments these new nuclear weapons on which it is based, don’t fall out of the sky overnight. Republicans must have been at it for some time before it became public. That puts a very interesting timeline on the “possibility of North Korea to have developed a miniaturized nuclear warhead on a long range missile” put forward by US experts, that has now been widely accepted as fact without further evidence, the building up of war rhetoric and provocation towards North Korea and Drumpf’s bragging that America has improved its nuclear arsenal under his direction and has now the finest in the world. That apparently isn’t a laughable lie, but bragging slip of the tongue. Apart from the “leadership” of course; this has been driven by the weapon industry with its hands up the backsides of ammosexual Republicans.

Kim Yong-un’s missile tests couldn’t have come at a more fortunate time for both Drumpf and the GOP. It takes all attention away from Drumpf’s Russian investigation – and in fact will bring Mueller’s investigation to a standstill should the Drumpf administration manage to have a war break out – and the GOP mercenaries have been given a perfect alibi to violate the INF treaty. History indeed repeats itself.
And I’m sure the Russians will follow suit the day after, if there is a day after, that is, starting a whole new nuclear arms race.

  4. New nuclear weapons?!?  What is it with these Republicans.  Do they all have small dicks?  We need more females and big dicked males in Congress.

  5. What Lona said!

  6. Like many of us here, I remember the days of “duck and cover”, a totally useless exercise, but we were too naïve to know that at the time.

There is no such thing as a limited nuclear strike or a surgical nuclear strike!  If these ammosexual Republicans fire off a nuclear missile, the fallout will affect peoples around the globe, including their own kids and grandkids. Do you remember how the winds carried the radiation of the Chernobyl meltdown?  Not only that, but countries like Russia and North Korea will also fire nuclear weapons. And then Iran will back enriching uranium.  Is that the legacy that they want to leave?  This does not make America great again or safe.

An adult in the room needs to remove the “football” from Drumpf’s vicinity and keep it away.  Also Republicans need to know that their plans are not acceptable.  How?  Vote them out of office at the next possible opportunity.

Thanks JD for the two petitions which I signed.

    Resist, Persist and Remove!!!

  7. Thanks and Amen to all! 22
