I’m having a busy day in spite of the oppressive heat, but they did lower today’s forecast to 107°. That will still beat the old record high by 14°. I cleaned out the fridge and organized the freezer. Store to Door has delivered groceries, and I put them away. I changed the poll. I prepared the graphics and collected most of the data for July’s Monthly Report. Wendy will be coming this evening. I expect her to wear a swimsuit, so she can cool off too.

From NY Times: The Trump administration is preparing to redirect resources of the Justice Department’s civil rights division toward investigating and suing universities over affirmative action admissions policies deemed to discriminate against white applicants, according to a document obtained by The New York Times.
The document, an internal announcement to the civil rights division, seeks current lawyers interested in working for a new project on “investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions.”
The announcement suggests that the project will be run out of the division’s front office, where the Trump administration’s political appointees work, rather than its Educational Opportunities Section, which is run by career civil servants and normally handles work involving schools and universities.
The professionals in the Educational Opportunities section would not carry out Trump’s and KKK Beauregard’s racist Republican scam! RESIST!!

A hundred and seven is still ridiculous. We seem to be having a little cooling here (high eighties, less with rain). We all know you are a cool cat, but that has nothing to do with temperature. Hope you can stay cool temp-wise too.

His mind is so far gone that he really (no longer?) can understand the more abstract consequences of his, his team and his family’s dealings with Russia such as treason and collusion. But his childish mind lights up when his constructed image of macho and sexual predator is attacked; at this primal level his brain (still) functions and overrules everything – and everyone – again.

Well the smoke from the forest fires has invaded Metro Vancouver. My eyes and throat are burning, and there is a yellowish haze that even blocks a view of the mountains. Making things worse, there is a high pressure trough running from Metro Vancouver down through Portland Oregon which is responsible for the heat. We hit 32 C (90 F) today which is not helping matters. Here is a picture taken on 2 different days of the same view. The smoke is thick! Air quality where I am was 8 out of 10 today which is high risk. One community inland was 18 out of 10 which is extremely high risk.
Smoke here too. We just got an Air Quality Warning.
