Wendy left a short time ago, and I desperately needed destinking.  Portland entered an excessive heat warning starting yesterday and extending through the entire week.  Today is only 89° (60% humidity).  Thursday is forecast at 109°.  ARGH!  Tomorrow I have my semi-annual eye torture by Alison, my eye cancer surgeon, to make sure there has been no recurrence.  Ultrasound on the eye is like scratching a chalk board inside your head.  I’ll be gone most of the day and will be fully dilated and useless when I return, so please expect no more than a Personal Update.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:07 (average 4:45).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (RWW Channel): RWW News: Rick Joyner Says Chaos Is Proof Trump Is An ‘Extraordinary Leader,” Just Like Jesus

Barf Bag Alert!!

What a crock from this Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian. However, Trump is just like Republican Supply-side Jesus (the exact opposite of the Real Jesus). So where is Supply-side Judas when we need him? RESIST!!

From Daily Kos:

Senate Republicans failed in their latest attempt to take health coverage from 16 million people with so-called “skinny repeal.” So how’s Donald Trump responding? By lamenting the failure and promising to do what he can to blow up the system so that at least a few million people lose coverage:

Very presidential. So populist. What a champion of working people. After sleeping on it, Trump expressed the deep thought that “If Republicans are going to pass great future legislation in the Senate, they must immediately go to a 51 vote majority, not senseless 60”—after a 51-49 vote.

What an idiot!! RESIST!!

From NY Times: President Trump’s admonition that the police should not be “too nice” while transporting suspects drew laughter and cheers from a crowd of officers on Friday, but police officials swiftly made it clear they did not find the words funny.

From New York to Los Angeles, law enforcement authorities criticized the president’s remarks. Experts worried that his words could encourage the inappropriate use of force. A defense lawyer even signaled that he might use video of the speech in court.

The criticism online started shortly after Mr. Trump’s comments, which came at an event in Brentwood, N.Y., which was intended to support the police in their fight against La Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, a gang that has been accused of several murders on Long Island.

After calling for more immigration officers to help arrest the gang members, Mr. Trump told officers, “Please don’t be too nice.”

“Like when you guys put somebody in the car, and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put your hand over” their head, he said, putting his hand above his head for emphasis. “I said, ‘You can take the hand away, O.K.?’”

To the best of my knowledge, no President has ever publicly called for criminal police brutality. But the Fuhrer is a Resident, not a President. RESIST!!

  1. 4:31  Doesn’t look like a very big lunch, even if the flower is also eaten.

A hundred and nine?  In PORTLAND?  Oh. My. God.  I’m SO sorry.  And I’m sorry about the ultrasound, too.  My eye exam included a screening that didn’t involve ultrasound or even dilation, but then, I haven’t had cancer in the past, so it’s probably not safe for you.  I mean, it’s probably not thorough enough to catch anything you might need caught.  A pity.

YT/RWW – So where is Supply Side Judas?  Here, Sheriff.  Here we are.  We all are.

DKos – If he would try “letting” Obamacare implode, we might be all right.  But he will “make” it implode, with sabotage, if he can.

NYT – Not to belabor the point, or maybe indeed to belabor the point, this is one of the right wing things that the hierarchy theory explains very well.   They don’t believe that anyone the police see reason to question, let alone arrest, is actually human – and even if they are, they are so far down the hierarchy, who cares?  I’m sure they would consider “criminal police brutality” to be an oxymoron.  If they knew what an oxymoron is.

Cartoon – Nixon was the first Republican President after Eisenhower, which means he was the first one to be elected by fraud.  There were still some in those days who weren’t totally corrupt.

  2. BBA: Bleck!!
DK: A do-nothing president, who whines, tweets, twitters, and complains!! I hope someone is keeping track of all the S— that is coming from him too! WE, the people will continue the fight, RESIST!!

NYT: Encouraging violence from a President?? WTH?? Such an antagonistic, mean spiteful man.

Please stay safe to & from and during your appointment. Relax, and rest, enjoy your evening, and take good care. Thanks, Tom.

  3. fyi: Don’t forget to sign DK petition, (which I’m sure most of us have,: Stop the Trump administration’s sabotage of Obamacare https://www.dailykos.com/campaigns/forms/sign-the-petition-stop-the-trump-administrations-sabotage-of-obamacare

  4. YT/RWW: I’m not going to watch, just ate dinner.  But, could probably have a couple of beers, and write his script myself.  Chaos is proof of…chaos!
NYT: A “suspect” is a suspect, until proven guilty, and even then, we do say we believe in not inflicting “cruel and unusual punishment.”  The clown continues to prove himself unfit for any public office.
‘Toon: Yes, and my representative, Liz Holtzman, was on that committee!!  We need more than impeachment, we need wholesale cleaning out of Idiot, his V.P., Baby Idiot- who may yet join those in the August, 2017 issue of National Geographic, who claim to be the Second Coming of Jesus!- and the rest of the GOPig leadership that had any involvement  with the Russia scam.

  5. Puzzle — 4:01  This puzzle drove me buggy!

RWW — So Rick Joyner says that chaos in the WH is a sign that Drumpf is an extraordinary leader, just like Jesus?  Well here from Businessnewsdaily.com are statements defining leadership from various CEOs.

    1. The pursuit of bettering your environment

    2. Knowing your team and yourself well

    3. Giving people the tools to succeed

    4. Open, authentic positive influence

    5. Clarity, confidence and courage

    6. Building consensus and common goals

    7. Being the solution to problems

    8. Helping others achieve the impossible

    9. Building the next generation of leaders

    10. Building followership

    11. Actively listening

I happen to agree with much of this, but I do not see any of this in Drumpf.  I’d like to know what Joyner has been smoking to come up with his rant!  Supply-side Jesus is more like the real Judas . . . selling his soul for 30 pieces of silver.  Triple barf bag needed!

Daily Kos —  “…they must immediately go to a 51 vote majority, not senseless 60”—after a 51-49 vote.”  It isn’t only healthcare that Drumpf finds too complicated!  Idiot Major!!!  Stupid is as stupid does!

NY Times — “But the Fuhrer is a Resident, not a President.” — He isn’t even that.  He is a USDA certified grade A asshole that should not be residing in the WH.  In my mind, and I did see video of his speech, he his inciting violence by those that are supposed to prevent violence, and he id condoning lawlessness.

Cartoon — And to think, 43 years later it could be doing the same thing again if the Republicans were not such a band of scoundrels and greedy bastards!

    Resist, Persist and Remove!!!

This coming week is not going to be fun at all, especially come Thursday.  Here it is expected to be around 30 C (86 F) and by Thursday  35-37 C (95-99 F).  We show Portland up to 113 F (45 C) on Thursday.  This is not going to be a fun week.  I may have to sit under the sprinkler . . . in the shade of course!

    • Late last year, the book “The Seven Failings of Really Useless Leaders” came down in price enough for me to get it, and your list reminded me of it.  The seventh failing discussed, but the most important one on which all else depends, was – really useless leaders destroy trust.  And doesn’t THAT fit.

Indeed, if you sit under the sprinkler, by all means do it in the shade.  Otherwise, the water drops acting as lenses could give you the sunburn of your life.

      • I have never heard of the book but it definitely sounds interesting.  I’ll have to check it out.

      • Don’t you love those little prisms!!!  Sun and heat don’t get along with me.  Having said that, I have had a sun burn in the winter because of the reflection off of snow.  Also almost went snow blind for the same reason.  That is no fun when you are driving.  I had to stop in the nearest town to buy sunglasses before I could continue my north bound journey.

  6. Good luck w/ your eye US.

I’ll be commiserating w/ you tomorrow as I have my 5-year colonoscopy on Tuesday (I had a polyp last time, which changes you from every 10 years to every 5 years).  As all of us know who’ve had one, the porcelain poop-prep the day before is the real pain in the ass.

  7. BBA: I can’t listen to this…

DK: This is your not-the popular-vote president tweeting this BS. It’s a shame, a crying shame.

NYT: Drumpf is already getting the police ready for the many demonstrations that will follow as soon a impeachment and indictment procedures are starting against him and his clan. Nothing Drumpf vomits is ever devoid of self-interest. And if the police take it further and as an excused to do whatever they want, much like some boarder patrol/officials are doing, what does Drumpf care about that. He’ll never think of anyone else but his own.

Cartoon: One of the few times history needs to repeat itself, and this time workd to get rid of the whole dire bunch.

  8. Hurried Hugs. 22

  9. All his actions add up to facist policies and the demise of our country if he is not reined in by Congress.  We don’t  gave much hope from them, either.

  10. NY Times: When Drumpf gets arrested, he gets treated as he advocates.
