It has now been six months since Donald "The Tweeting Twit" Trump ascended from the flames of the nether regions to impose his Republican Rectum Reich on the people of America.  How have they done?  The Republican Reich is virtually always wrong.  Fortunately, we have another Reich that is virtually always right, and Robert Reich has prepared a report card, designed for the fools that voted for Trump.

TrumpAsshole

So after six months, has he delivered what he promised you?

1. He told you he’d repeal Obamacare and replace it with something “beautiful.” You bought it. But he didn’t repeal and he didn’t replace. (Just as well: His plan would have knocked at least 22 million off health insurance, including many of you.)

2. He told you he’d cut your taxes. You bought it. But tax “reform” is stalled. And if it ever moves, the only ones whose taxes will be cut are the wealthy.

3. He told you he’d invest $1 billion in our nation’ crumbling infrastructure. You bought it. But his infrastructure plan, which was really a giveaway to rich investors, is also stalled.

4. He said he’d clean the Washington swamp. You bought it. But he’s brought into his administration more billionaires, CEOs, and Wall Street moguls than in any administration in history, to make laws that will enrich their businesses, along with former lobbyists, lawyers and consultants who are crafting new policies for the same industries they recently worked for.

5. He said he’d use his business experience to whip the White House into shape. You bought it. But he created the most chaotic, dysfunctional, back-stabbing White House in modern history, in which no one is in charge.

6. He said he’d close “special interest loopholes that have been so good for Wall Street investors but unfair to American workers.“ You bought it. But he picked a Wall Street financier Stephen Schwarzman to run his strategic and policy forum, who compares closing those loopholes to Hitler’s invasion of Poland… [emphasis added]

  1. It’s a good thing that Robert Reich is putting this into a form that dots all the i’s and crosses all the t’s.  It’s helpful to us in forming our own analyses.  But I doubt it will change the mind of a single Trump voter.  I probably don’t need to go into why not.  We all know it.

  2. It get worse every single day. Has it only been 6 months??! It feels like 6 years!!
Didja all see this? ‘Dissing’ some wounded war Veterans??https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/21/us/politics/trump-golf-virginia-potomac.html

  3. My “Wait a year, and maybe you’ll change your mind” (about Rumpshit) cousin has been decidedly absent from my life, for some time now.  “Hey, you know, I walk the dog in the park near you, maybe we can meet there.”  “Sure,” I said, just give me a call when you expect to be there,” I said.  So, the question is:”Have any of you heard from her, ’cause I haven’t?”
    Embarrassed, stupefied, mummified?

  4. Drumpf LIED!

Excellent article by Robert Reich. Well worth the easy and simple read.
    .

  5. Thanks for posting, I just shared it both on Facebook and email with my “red” friends.

  6. The good news is that at the 6-Month marker, more Americans want to IMPEACH him (42%) than approve of him (36%).

  7. Remember how Drumpf said he was the only one who could unite the nation?  Remember how he promised to unite the US?  Has he done that?  NO!  He can’t even unite his own party, the Republican party, let alone the country!

That is just one of many promises that he made.  He lied!  He is an inveterate liar . . . USDA grade A liar!  And he is still lying!

Unfortunately, those that voted for him and really need to hear Reich’s words will likely never see this column.  Mores the pity because they do themselves a disservice.  Drumpf is a failure as a president and as a human being!

    • I did the graphic in Word and uploaded it.  However it has taken on a life of its own and grown bigger even though I made it smaller.  I give up.  It says

      Resist, Persist and Remove!!!

Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

      • I went into edit on your comment and saw there were no dimensions shown, which means it inserted it at the dimensions it was uploaded at, which turned out to be 2000 x 784.  In my experience, once a piece has been uploaded to the media library, there is no way to change those dimensions IN THE LIBRARY.  Sometimes one can change them when one posts it, but it doesn’t look like you were offered that option.

To be safe (although I have not gone back and deleted/re-uploaded any older ones), I have started sizing everything in the tool I create it in – for me, usually Paint – even when I create in word I put it into Paint using PrintScr and then re-size and re-save it.  The widest a reply will hold is somewhere between 750 and 800 pixels; I have been using 700 as a rule.  I’m sure there are other ways, including some that are easier, to solve this, but that is what I have been doing.

To get yours to fit, I copied the source code for mine and the source code for yours, and re-formatted yours to look like mine, which did include the size.  I used 700 x 255 (the math came to 254.8).  It seems to have worked, other than that loss of size comes with loss of drama.  Sorry!

        • Thanks JD!  I will check this all out.

Actually, no need for ‘sorry’ as this is exactly what I did in Word and pretty much the same size.  I actually tried to use Paint but it is not the same as I had used before now that I have Windows 10 on my laptop.  I finally gave up trying to use it on my laptop.

      • Lynn, Joanne has told you expertly how to go about “downsizing” graphics. One additional thing though: alterations to any picture you add is only prohibited when your commenting. If you insert images from the library when you’re creating a new post, you can click on them after adding them and then get the opportunity to align them or alter their size. You do not have this interactive picture editing mode available when you’re commenting.

That is why I also make my pictures smaller before uploading them, but as I usually go for a small 300 pixel width, this will visually put them in the left hand corner and text will not flow around it like it does when you’re editing a post.21

      • And there is a way to change it.  Select the edit link inm the media library.  I went in and scaled it down ro 500 pixels wide. 28

        • Except it isn’t.  Yes, it says 500 wide, but in the properties for the image, it says it’s 761 x 277, but it isn’t that either.  Also in the properties, the URL includes the dimensions 1024 x 373, and that is how it comes up in a comment if one doesn’t scale it  (I just tried, and then cut it.).

Actually, the tool I use does allow me to scale a picture I am inserting into a comment, but that is probably browser-dependent or operating-system-dependent.

I wonder whether one could make the change in the URL in the Properties and have it work?

      • YES!  I Do!  I Do!! Call on Me!

        (Waving Hand Frantically)

The easiest solution (most likely) is once you’ve made the Word Doc graphic, do a Screen Capture of it!

It’s now a *.jpg or *.png or w/e – and you can easily change the dimensions of it.  THEN upload the SCREEN CAPTURE photo.

        Easy-Peasy!

(That’s the way I do my Word Doc graphics, and it works fine)

  8. Robert Reich, like the excellent lecturer he is, knows when to stop and prioritizes the items on Drumpf’s list of failures well. Imagine what it would look like when he named all of them! Reich knows all to well that this list is only a reminder for those that already know what Drumpf’s Residency is about: chaos steamed in hot air, salted with lies and peppered with malignant tweets. The hardcore Drumpfians will never read it, let alone be swayed by it.

  9. Thanks all.  Hot Hugs! 11
