The Smoking Gun Went BANG!

Covering the criminal cooperation between the Trump campaign and the Russian government to steal the presidency of the United States from the the American People and deliver it to US Billionaires and Vladimir Putin is a daunting task.  My fingers were still tired from explaining the smoking gun yesterday, when it went BANG!  Before Trump Jr., Kushner and Manafart met with a Russian lawyer, Trump Jr. had been informed that he would be given information collected by the Russian government to help his father win the election.

Before arranging a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer he believed would offer him compromising information about Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Jr. was informed in an email that the material was part of a Russian government effort to aid his father’s candidacy, according to three people with knowledge of the email.

The email to the younger Mr. Trump was sent by Rob Goldstone, a publicist and former British tabloid reporter who helped broker the June 2016 meeting. In a statement on Sunday, Mr. Trump acknowledged that he was interested in receiving damaging information about Mrs. Clinton, but gave no indication that he thought the lawyer might have been a Kremlin proxy.

Mr. Goldstone’s message, as described to The New York Times by the three people, indicates that the Russian government was the source of the potentially damaging information. It does not elaborate on the wider effort by Moscow to help the Trump campaign… [emphasis added]

From <NY Times>

Nobody does a better job of breaking down the details of a complex situation like this than Rachel Maddow. It’s a twenty minute video, but she even explains the significance of the Fuhrer’s 6/9 [typo corrected] tweet about Clinton’s email better than Keith did.  Invest the time.

You just can’t get a more obvious example of criminal conspiracy than this.

  1. The Schaden doesn’t get much more Freude, not the irony any sweeter …

  2. This is great news! Yea, BOOM!!!
    Thanks, Tom.

  3. I think the “19” is actually a typo for “9” – understandable and easy to miss.  But the verbiage is consistently “June 9.”  I had not seen this first part of Rachel, but I did see the next segment where she had Adam Schiff (previously scheduled) on, seconds after the NY Times broke the Junior story, and they discussed it right in the moment.  Also beautiful.

It’s sure too bad that the truth doesn’t matter to Trump voters, isn’t it?

  4. So, is this the new meme: “The rotten apple falls quite close to the rotten tree?”

  5. If Chelsea Clinton had done the same thing, our Republican congress would be out to hang her.  I hope  I am mistaken, but I seriously doubt they will do anything to punish the Trumps for their acts of treason.

  6. The Committees in Congress obviously aren’t doing their job because of the GOP throwing as much sand into their machinery as possible, the FBI can’t go public with their findings, so it’s up to “the enemy of the people” to dig until they find the dirt that everyone knows is buried just beneath the surface and put it on display for all to see.

Kudos to those all the investigative (newspaper) reporters at the Washington Post and The New York Times and the TV presenters who help dig further and bring it all together. 03

Rachel wonders why if this is the moment when the tide turns, but we all have wondered this many times before and nothing much happened. First get the TrumCare bill and “tax reforms” passed, right?

The digging shouldn’t stop now anyway. Remember that Junior denied the meeting at first, then said he didn’t know who he was going to meet, then that he thought it was about Russian adoption procedures before the proof that he, and Manafort and Kushner, knew it was with a representative of the Russian government about Clinton’s hacked e-mails with the intention of helping Drumpf’s campaign. The last I heard Junior is now denying that the Russian lawyer gave them anything at all in that meeting. The damning emails were released by Junior himself on Twitter, which makes one wonder about two things: “How stupid does a person need to be if he think these e-mails will clear him?” and “What else is he hiding that he thinks he’s got away with by throwing this bone?”08

  7. BANG does not quite cut it.

    KA-BOOM is more like it!

Like JD, I kept listening to Rachel and Adam Schiff, something I often do.  Very interesting!

    Resist and Persist!!!

  8. Thanks all.  Hump day hugs! 29
