Please pardon my brevity.  After yesterday, I’m exhausted, and the muggy heat has returned.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:31 (average 5:12).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Real Time Channel): F**k Mars

I agree that Mars cannot save us from climate change, and our resources are far better spent in rehabilitating earth. However, e3xploring our solar system is still necessary, not as a place to live, but as a source of raw materials to use here. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Full Frontal Channel): Web Extra: A Brief History Of Florida’s Felon Voting Ban

Here in Oregon, prisoners with outside addresses can register to vote as part of the prerelease program, and have their ballots mailed to those addresses, allowing them to vote the day after release. Oregon leads the way! The best way to encourage felons to commit more crimes is to tell them they have no stake in the community. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: The health-care bill passed by House Republicans earlier this month offers no coverage for injuries suffered as a result of body slamming, according to a report issued on Thursday.

The report, released by the nonpartisan Center for Comprehensive Health Coverage, warns of sharp increases in health-care costs for the nation’s body-slamming sufferers.

Costs associated with body slamming, such as X-rays to the elbow and other injured body parts, would have to be paid for out of pocket under the G.O.P. plan, the report says.

In a separate finding, the report indicates that the Republican health-care bill’s vision-care option does not offer replacement eyewear in the case of glasses being smashed or otherwise demolished in an unprovoked body-slamming incident.

Dang Andy! And Montana is a state of rabid fools too! RESIST!!

  1. Bill: I recommend dt to go and see if it would work out for all. Just an idea. LOL

Sam Bee: Gee, seems like FL is pretty stern on this. Sad. Here in Texas, one can not vote while in prison, but one may vote after release. This also includes probation and parole.

    NYer: So true! LOL, Andy.

    Cartoon: re: I agree 100%

Hope that things, weather wise get better for you, it's muggy here too, but we're supposed to get a week's worth of rain starting this Sunday. Enjoy your evening, relax, and take care. Thanks, Tom.

  2. Bill Maher: It has been found that Mars is NOT habitable simply becaue of the intense solar radiation that visits it, which may have been responsible for its  loss of atmoshpere in the first place!!  THERE IS NO PLANET "B!"

Sam Bee: Iowa and Kentucky, too.  Well, of course, guess which Bought Bitch Mitch comes therefrom?  Actually, if this is right, I am happily surprised, as I'd thought this was much more widespread!

New Yorker: YES!  They elected Mr. I don't like your question-Body Slammer!

  3. 4:23  Now that's an idea.

The National Democratic Redistricting Committee is starting to ask for donations in order to watchdog the census.  While I'm not able to give and not asking anyone else to, they do have a point.  I worked on the 1980 census, and there was a person working the same job I was – going door to door, handing out forms, and every fifth home conducting a longer interview, as well as returning later to collect the forms – who I guess decided that was all just too much trouble, so she made up all the answers out of her head.  The way it was caught was, my mother was also working the census but she was working in the office, and she wondered one day why we'd never received a form.  Lo and behold there was one for us – totally off the wall.  It's hard enough to do a good census if the Bureau has enough money, and if everyone who is working on it wants to get it right.  That doesn't appear to be likely to happen under the current Resident.

YT/RTC – Many thanks to Bill Mahers (not that he would appreciate the pun.  Well, maybe he would).

YT/FF – You are correct, it's the right thing to do, and Oregon leads the way.  I just have one tiny qualm (which nags me every time I visit DH, like today.)  Ummm – do you realize what television channels are watched the most in prisons?

TNY – Trust Andy to apply some sanity!

Cartoon From what I have read, I certainly would have wanted him gone, but the impeachment charges were pretty trumped up (pun intended.)

  4. Puzzle — 3:29  I know you're a hot, sticky Puddy Cat but maybe the dawg will lend you the cool cloth to help cool you off.  He'll want it back though since you're not having dawg fricassée today!

YouTube — The only way that Mars might help us with climate change is if we bannished Drumpf and Republicans there so that we could put in place policies that would help save earth!  Good job from Bill!

YouTube — In Canada, felons are entitled to vote even while in prison.  Here are the Elections Canada regulations which are very clear.  No disenfranchisement here and I hope that does not change.

"Canadians who will be 18 years of age or older on polling day and who are in a correctional institution or a federal penitentiary in Canada may vote by special ballot in an election or referendum."

The New Yorker — I'm not so sure how much sanity Andy brings to this . . . the victims are left out in t5he cold.  As to the AHCA, it is a piece of Republican crap designed to reduce the population, not save those who need help.  After all, those who need healthcare have let their fellow citizens down by getting sick.  Well that is according to Republicans!  BTW, I am not a Republican!

Cartoon — After all we have witnessed in the past 18 months, I think I can safely say that the Articles of Impeachment for Drumpf would not have to be trumped up at all.  The resident is a walking disaster!

      Resist and Persist!!!

It has been pleasant all day until now.  It is 25 C (77 F) right now but muggy.  Maybe that is because I am having supper.  Tomorrow and Sunday will be hot and muggy with temps heading to 30 C (86 F), which in my opinion, really sucks.  Here come the big fans!  Oh, BTW, that little girl who was dragged into the water by a sea lion is now in hospital with an infection.  Apparently her finger was cut.  She is expected to recover though.

  5. Temperatures are rising above 32°C (90°F) today when 18°C ( 64-65°F) is normal for this time of year, so I get some understanding of what you're going through, TomCat.

Bill Maher: Couldn't agree more with him, so Kudos to him for making this animation, and Kudos to you for posting it, TomCat. I don't entirely agree with your view on space exploration to find minerals and such. Money for that is better spent on optimal recycling and research and development of other, more available materials to use. Most materials we need nowadays for computers, telephones and batteries have only been developed in the past few decades as part of this ongoing research.

Sam Bee: It's so ironical that, because of an old racist law that is still in the books, a larger group of white people are disenfranchised than "rabbits". And Republicans would be very wrong to think those white felons are all Democrats.
In many European countries, voting is a Human Right which can't be taken away from you even when you are in prison.

TNY: Sounds about right for what Republicans have in mind for coverage for victims of Drumpfians: nothing. That of course may lead to a lot of Democrats quitting their health care insurance all together, but I'm sure Republicans will repair that with mandatory insurance. The won't dare to call it health care because all people do is pay; it would be silly of them to expect a basic package with any coverage in return.

Cartoon: Make that: Drumpf and extended family won't be.

  6. Thanks all.  Hugs.  Need to post and lay down.
