Until yesterday, Putin’s Pet and his Republican Reich kept claiming that DOJ had fired FBI Director Comey because of the way he treated Hillary.  Nobody believed them, but universal incredulity has never been an obstacle to their lies before.  Yesterday both Trump and his staff changed gears, that Trump had decided to fire Comey, because the Russia investigation, according to them, is based on fake news.  The tone was that of bragging.

Donald Trump has said he was thinking of “this Russia thing” when he decided James Comey’s fate – contradicting the White House rationale that he fired the FBI director for mishandling the Clinton email investigation.

Comey had been leading an investigation into possible collusion between Trump advisers and Russian officials when he was dismissed by the president. Defending that decision in an interview on NBC News on Thursday, Trump said: “And, in fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said: ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should’ve won.’”…

…In the NBC interview Trump also flatly contradicted his own vice-president and spokesman by saying he decided to fire James Comey before receiving a recommendation from the deputy attorney general…

Rachel Maddow covered this story in detail and tied it in will the behavior of Jefferson "KKK Beauregard" Sessions.

So, as I understand it, Trump and Comey had dinner, during which Trump repeatedly asked Comey to swear loyalty, not to America, but to him, a practice made famous by Adolf Hitler.  Comey refused and offered to swear honesty and integrity.  Were Trump and his minions not in danger of having their treason exposed by Comey’s investigation, a promise of honesty and integrity would have been sufficient.  Trump needed loyalty, because he wanted Comey to cooperate in the cover-up.  Shortly thereafter, Trump pulled the plug on the FBI investigation by firing Comey.  So who is running it now?

KKK Beauregard Sessions had recused himself from all matters Russia, but evidently, he is now running the investigation in secret, sol he can squelch it.  And now that there’s little anyone can do, Trump is openly bragging about it.

  1. AN: dt just keeps lying, and lying, the hole is just getting bigger and bigger…..

RM: As KO mentioned, 'Follow the Money'. Buckle up, as the rollercoaster is starting, and it's not going to be pretty. Unreal.

  2. Oh man. The s¥[÷ is hitting the fan!!! And I DO hope it hits tRump and his many, MANY minions SQUARE in the FACE!!! MAJOR kudos to Rachel on this story!

Thanks for the Rachel vid! Can't seem to get her to record on my thing! Have a great weekend! Hope we're all still here when it gets to Monday!!!

  3. All he can spout from his upper sphincter is lies! And then he threatens Comey!
See my posting on this egregiously brilliant move. The man is his own worst enemy!

  4. Yes, I am pretty confident he recused himself from ALL THINGS Russia.  However, he also recused himself from all things Hillary campaign.  So even had their lie been truth, he would have been in – is violation the word? – of his recusals.

They actually thought that if they said it was because of Hillary, the Democrats would shut up and let them get away with it.  Hah!  All that did was to piss off his supporters who want to "Lock Her Up."  So, I guess between the Democrats and the Trumpsters, they figured they might as well pivot to the half truth.

Fake news it ain't.  And he knows it's not fake.  His supporters may be delusional, bu he is not, on this one point.

After the White House meeting (the one the Russian press was allowed into but the American press was not), Lavrov held a press conference at the Russian Embassy.  He then said, "[It must be] humiliating for the American people to realise that the Russian Federation is controlling the situation in America”.  Emphasis mine.  Indeed it is.

    • I just came across this comment on a Raw Story article (by MaCready), and found it chilling:

He's also getting a pass from a third of the american people.

Not just Congress. That's what is really disturbing. This did not happen in the Nixon era.

But chilling as it is, it is a fact, and we had better not disregard it.

  5. He knows that the republicans don't have the gonads to do anything about it.  They are kiss the same "big brown eye".

  6. Alternet: Drumpf was contradicting the White House rationale, his vice-president and all of his spokespeople, so in effect mainly himself. Tomorrow he'll say something entirely different. What's new? The man is unhinged and has lost his grasp on reality a long time ago; he really has no idea what crisis he's conjured up and that his statements now would be enough to start impeachment procedures based on his obstruction of justice. There's not much Drumpf understands of knows. But of one thing he can be sure: the GOP being the GOP it has turned into in the last decade it'll l stand behind him no matter what.

Rachel Maddow: She keeps her word and isn't thrown off the scent by any new statements Drumpf makes in some interview or other. She reports on it and questions the fact that Republicans won't start impeachment procedures, but then goes on showing what is going on in the meantime in the Department of Justice, the so called recusal of Jeff Sessions and the shady dealings with Paul Manafort. Sessions, on behalf of Drumpf of course, and himself no doubt, is taking charge of the investigation behind the scenes again. So undoubtedly nothing will come of it. As I said yesterday, Drumpf seems to have all his bases covered quite adequately. And he feels so secure that he now threatens Comey openly, as he has done before with Sally Yates.

Banana republic? That's an insult to all other banana republics, have a look what TDS's Trevor Noah from South Africa had to say about that.

  7. The stench of the bold, bald-faced lying by this entire administration is breathtaking.

The truly sad thing is that when a real crisis – either national or international – comes along, as they always do, this cabal will have absolutely NO credibility.  And THAT'S not good for any of us!

  8. All accounts that I have read highlight the same idea, and it is likely the only time that Drumpf has spoken the truth . . .

"Donald Trump has said he was thinking of “this Russia thing” when he decided James Comey’s fate …"

Bloomberg's article title on MSN.com reads "White House struggling to contain Comey firestorm" .  IMO, this is bigger than a firestorm . . . maybe a nuclear strike is more apropos.  This alone should be enough to seal Drumpf's fate . . . an admission of guilt from Drumpf himself … impeachment and criminal charges.  As Pat B says above "…the hole is just getting bigger and bigger…" and Drumpf is operating the backhoe.  But I wonder how long it will take Republicans to rein in their monstrosity.  They did not do it when it might have been easier before the RNC last year, so why would they do it now?  The appearance of self preservation should dictate their actions.  But I guess they are afraid of maybe losing the Drumpf supporters.  They are digging a hole right next to Drumpf's.  It could be that Republicans could take out Drumpf using the 25th amendment, as I understand it, but that still leaves people like Sessions, who is a racist and liar, in place.

The whole bunch belong in prison in solitary confinement for a very long time!

    Resist and Persist!!!
