It should be much cooler today, giving me a chance to catch up on sleep.  Between groceries, housework, and Republicans, I’m feeling pretty frazzled.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:11 (average 4:51).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): You Can’t Fire the Person Investigating You | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann

Keith’s summary was perfect. Either the Trump Reich must fall or America will. RESIST!!

From NY Times: Betsy DeVos went to Bethune-Cookman University on Wednesday, knowing her first commencement address as secretary of education could get ugly at the historically black institute of higher education.

It did — fast. Over sporadic heckling, and at some points to the backs of gown-clad graduates refusing to face her.

The greeting she deserved was to be mooned by the graduates. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Popular vote loser Donald Trump abruptly fired the guy who was leading the very investigation that could lead to the downfall of his presidency. Speaking to reporters from the Capitol Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence confirmed that Trump is already searching for James Comey’s replacement:

Already this morning, the president is in the process of evaluating individuals who will be able to fill that spot, lead the FBI and restore the confidence of the American people.

Let’s be clear: NO ONE TRUMP NOMINATES WILL BE SEEN AS LEGITIMATE, IMPARTIAL OR CAPABLE of carrying out the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to steal the election.

In a word… Amen! RESIST!!

  1. 4:06  Interesting.

Amid all the atrocities of Dyonvan Fredovitch Trumpski, I almost missed this, which would have been a pity.  The Movement for Black Lives, in cooperation with about two dozen other groups, will be bailing out more than 30 mothers who have not been convicted of anything, but are awaiting trial and can't afford bail, as a Mother's Day gift.

Keith #73 – "You cannot fire the man who is investigating you."  "Even Republicans will abandon him.  But will they abandon him in time?"  Good question.  Have I ever been more grateful that I am old and have no children/grandchildren?  I don't think so.  I hope I live long enough to see him gone, but fear I won't.

NYT – Like sending Goebbels to give the Commencement speech at a Yeshiva.  That goes way beyond privilege to sheer arrogance.  Mooned?  I don't know – they could have farted …

DKos – You are correct in that.  It's sad that it needs to besaid, it's so obvious.

Cartoon – It seems as though that was in a totally different millennium from today.  Oh, wait –

  2. KO: Well said, I agree, he needs to GO. NOW!!!

NYT: I watched this, and am so proud of those graduates who turned their back to this nincompoop. It was GRAND!!

DK: Whoever takes the spot, will be licking his boots, and as a plus…getting the thumbs up from the Russians, and  we'll all be hearing about it on the Russian news!! U.G.H.!!!

Hope that you get all your chores done, have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*Joanne: So glad for these moms who will be able to celebrate with their families, and children! High Fives to those organizations that made this possible!! Thank you for link.

  3. It's a hard thing to realize that the country we know and love is in the hands of this barbaric fool! He thinks that the Constitution is something to wipe his a$$ with whenever he tells like it. He doesn't know the first thing about the Constitution! If he did, he wouldn't be breaking the laws that are laid down in it so often!

    RESIST and PERSIST!!!

  4. I've got a frazzling day ahead of me, so I'll know what you feel like tonight. Hope you got the sleep you so much needed, TomCat.

Keith Olbermann: "You cannot fire the man who is investigating you." But Drumpf did and must now suffer the consequences. I don't think I've ever seen Keith so solemn in the Resistance series, so this act has really hit home. Theres's only one thing for it now: RESIST!  McConnell has already retreated in his shell with the phone off the hook, so has Ryan. So pester each and everyone of those Republican %^& until he gives in and demand an independent inquiry too. Phone calls, sit-ins, protests at their front and back doors. They can't arrest everyone, can they, the jails are already full with illegal migrants.

NYT: The board of the Bethune-Cookman University seemed to have made quite a blunder when inviting DeVos to speak, but then again it was also a good way to set her up. They knew she was in no position to refuse the invitation of this historically black institute of higher education and they also knew their students would protest. DeVos is one of the weakest links in the administration and that's why "Ms. DeVos has appeared at times to carry the weight of every Trump administration controversy on her shoulders." Educators everywhere know exactly whom to invite (and have protested against) and will do so until the day she resigns.

    DK:

  5. It certainly cooled down here in addition to torrential rains all day.  Many areas are facing flooding, especially in the south and central Okanagan.  So tell me how there is no such thing as climate change.  Good luck with the chores.  Please, my little Annie needs some good thoughts.  Her bowels are not working well and this mum is concerned.  I went to the vet and she goes back on the 18th.

Puzzle — 3:13  I prefer sapphire lobelia with its delicate, vivid blue trailing flowers.

YouTube — Keith is spot on!  "You cannot fire the man who is investigating you."  That is a virtual admission of guilt!  I agree, the spectre of impeachment is growing every day.

NY Times — Your comment reminds me of the movie "Patch Adams" when Robin Williams as Patch, during his graduation, faces forward on stage and bows to his fellow students.  In so doing, he moons the university's Dean of Medicine, a true thorn in Adam's side.  De Vos is that dean, totally unqualified as a human being let alone the Secretary of Education.  Amen to the students who turned their back!

Daily Kos — "… and restore the confidence of the American people." That is mission impossible as long as Drumpf is POTUS.  According to the Deputy Director, Comey was respected by the rank and file.  In an article I read 2 days ago, it has been suggested that Judge Merrick Garland would be a good fit for the head of the FBI.  That may be but Drumpf would never do something so sane!

Cartoon — A thorn in another Dick's side!

    Resist and Persist!!!

  6. Thanks all!  Hugs!

  7. Just as an aside, Dan Ellsberg's father was a navy Rear Admiral, as I recall, and the author of a number of my favorite books, during my H.S. years, about his adventures in Europe working to clean up harbour, and other sabotage left in the wake of WWII; Edward S. Ellsberg.  His title was Principle Salvage Officer.  His books inclue "Hell On Ice, the Saga of the "Jeannette," "Pigboats," and "Men Under the Sea."
