Sometimes called TrumpCare, RepubliCare is infamous for the RepubliCare Death Benefit. If you can pay, you get care.  If you can’t pay, you get to die.  In that respect RepubliCare remains unchanged from Alan Grayson’s classic "Die Quickly".  The latest iteration passed the House this morning.

RepubliCareAfter years of promises and months of delays, House Republicans passed their version of an Obamacare repeal and replacement Thursday, muscling the far-right legislation through their chamber by feverishly pressuring moderates in the closing days.

Republicans passed the bill 217-213, with 20 Republicans voting “no” and not a single Democrat voting in support.

But what seems like a victory for House Republicans may ultimately be their downfall.

Democrats were of two minds about Republicans advancing the bill, which would gut some of Obamacare’s most popular provisions (including protections for people with pre-existing conditions as well as the Medicaid expansion).

On one hand, Democrats desperately wanted to protect President Barack Obama’s signature law. On the other hand, Democrats believe ― perhaps correctly ― that this extremely conservative bill can’t pass the Senate, and that House Republicans may have just hung a profoundly unpopular legislation around the necks of some of their most vulnerable members.

As Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told Republicans during her floor speech before the vote, Democrats plan to tattoo every provision of this bill to the foreheads of Republicans. “You will glow in the dark,” Pelosi said… [emphasis added]

Lawrence O’Donnell covered some of the key features of this hateful horror.

Under no circumstances may Paul Ryan’s death panels be allowed to pass the Senate.

  1. Where did I read that after the vote Democrats started chanting "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye"?

http://disq.us/p/1iddv7a links to a comment with a story about de facto death panels prios to Obamacare, and how ther is more freedom of choice when the Government is involved, not less.  (Commentor is E.A.Blair)

https://ourfuture.org/20170503/attention-democrats-voters-want-more-government-not-less links to an article with data demonstrating that support for government doing things, as opposed to leaving things to the free market, is at a high since the nineties.  I can't say an "all-time high" since the chart only goes back to the nineties, but I would bet that it is currently at a high since Reagan was elected in 1980.

And, yes, we need to start working on the Senate STAT.

  2. Funny, I was at my local community garden, earlier today, and noticed that we had just received a new load of composted manure.  I had this strange feeling I'd seen this before, and then it struck me: "PILE OF SHIT, JUST LIKE THE REPUBLICANS!"  And, that was before I go the news about the House, which also, voted to defund PP!!  As much as I have lost respect for Pelosi since 9/11,I hope the Dems can "tattoo" this slime of a bill to the GOPig forheads!  They are so deeply into "Agenda ubber alles!" that it just might be their death throes for which they are cheering!

  3. RESIST, because “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” Jiddu Krishnamurtu. And this society is getting sicker by the day!

    • I'm so in agreement I'm not sure what to say. Sick, indeed. Our completely inappropriate, untrained President portrays narcissism and pathological lying. Something is very wrong w/the GOP…how many are buddies with Russia? It is like a bad dream from which we won't be able/allowed to awaken. Gosh, I want it over.

  4. Couldn't and still can't fathom this. A hard pill to swallow, imho.

    Dam them all!!

  5. Hey, Pat, watch out for those pills, with the GOPigs in control, they could cost you big!

The GOPigs are out to destroy the Obama Legacy, come hell or high water.  Well the high water might just come to Mar al Largo sooner than Rumpshit believes.  And this is going to be very unpopular (shades of Randy Rainbow!), but if Pres. Obamahad not allowed McConnell to stop him from telling the country about the apparent, at the time, Russian interference, Hillary would be president now, protecting that legacy.

  6. Our universal healthcare here north of the 49th isn't perfect but it is a lot better than any healthcare in the US.  There are differences between provinces (ie Ontario has no healthcare premiums while BC does have premiums) but I don't have to worry that I can't afford treatment.

    I read in Raw Story

"…Walsh responded to Kimmel’s appeal by tweeting, “Sorry Jimmy Kimmel: your sad story doesn’t obligate me or anybody else to pay for somebody else’s health care.”"

I never liked slimeball Walsh.  It would appear that Republicans are right in line with Walsh . . . he's just more direct and loud about it.  It is all about the money, and if you read the article you'll see racism, Republican racism in the fore.

To think that Republicans and their followers decried death panels in Obamacare and there were none.  But Republicare sure has them . . . no money, die! . . . pre-existing condition, die!  This makes me so angry.  The US thinks of itself as the leader of the free world.  I say bullshit!  With the way it treats its citizens, it is more like the heel of the world.

    • I love my country, though it's hard to recognize. No qualms about your stating that we think we are the leader of the free world and aren't. I cannot advertise The American Dream to anyone these days. They'd best stay away. It's rare that we have it for our own.

  7. Rape and anything that goes with it (like pregnancy) will be a pre-existing condition.  As will most everything.   All this so the greedy 2% get more tax breaks, because  lord knows, millions are not enough.  Not to mention that we simply cannot allow a black man to have one bit of success.  Of course, those who complained about Obamacare haven't seen anything yet.  To add insult to injury, the beer party/celebration with all those old white man and their big ugly grins.

This is on trump and ryan and will indeed be tatooed on their foreheads forever.  Whatever it takes, they need to become unemployed… every one of them.

  8. Can't wait for the nonpartisan CBO scoring of this abomination.

Only hope that all of Twitler's minions will NOT be immune to the fact that Trumpcare is NOT an actual "Healthcare" bill – it's a tax cut for the rich courtesy of screwing the poor and working class folks … AGAIN!

  9. So the Freedom Caucus (I have a very hard time typing this name) got its way and things got even worse with this new bill. So they had to do a little lying to their own party members to cover the extend of the damage it does…that's how Republicans/Drumpfians make their deals, isn't it. I haven't heard Drumpf claim his success yet, that's unusual. Perhaps he's afraid it won't make it through the senate, not in a recognizable Republican form anyway, so he may be keeping his powder dry for once.

I can imagine some Democrats thinking that this bill passing will give them a golden opportunity in the 2018 elections, but that is almost as cynical as putting this bill together is. Apparently those Democrats don't care about all those people who will lose coverage, are left with untreated disease or even lose their life in the meantime. Politics has become completely self-serving on both sides of the alley, where angry, disadvantaged voters a just means to a seat in Congress, not people who are struggling to survive despite an inhuman government.

    RESIST AND PERSIST!

    • Lona, the Democrats were  thinking that passing the House only gives them a golden opportunity, with the assumption that it can never pass the Senate., so it will never become law.

  10. Thanks all.  Tired hugs!
