I’m still way south of healthy, but I want to try to post normally for a day.  I know I won’t be able to do so tomorrow, because Wendy is coming a day and a half early to de-stink the TomCat, before she goes to Colorado.  Wednesday is up in the air, as it’s a grocery delivery day.  The pain is still quite severe, but it hurts as much or more in bed, as it does here.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:35 (average 6:15).  To do it, click here.  How did they do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Full Frontal Channel): Trump’s Hard Power Budget | Full Frontal with Samantha Bee

I’m four days late with this one, but late Sam is better than no Sam. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Donald Trump’s Great Health Care Negotiating

Barf Bag Alert!!

The art of the deal? I think he’s about the art of the steal!! RESIST!!

From Washington Post: REP. PETER DEFAZIO (D-Ore.) has a long record of clever legislative proposals for financing infrastructure. His latest, announced Wednesday, is to increase the federal gas tax by up to 1.5 cents per year, with proceeds going to pay interest on an annual surface transportation bond issue of $17 billion through 2030. It would be the first hike in the gas tax, currently 18.4 cents per gallon, since 1993. The resulting dollars would pay for a 30 percent increase in spending from the Highway Trust Fund, above what’s currently planned.

Oregon leads the way. Of course it’s too rational for Republicans to pass. RESIST!!

  1. 5:24  Don't pull a muscle leaping to catch it.  Yeah, sometimes my chair is more comfortable than bed, and I don't even have torn muscles.  What part of Colorado is Wendy going to, do you know?  (Or, in other words, what Congressional district is her friend moving from, do you know?

Sam – How can anyone comment on Sam when she says it all so much better than any of us could?

YT/MMC – Except that he DIDN'T write "The Art of the Deal"!  It was ghost written by someone (Tony Schwartz) who now doesn't speak very highly of him!  And it shows, doesn't it?

WaPo – Yes, he does have great ideas.  You are fortunate.

Cartoon – I'm not even going to go there today.

  2. "Favorite Party Toy"

Actually, for Trump, I think rubber sheets are HIS favorite party toy.  At least while he's in Russia.

  3. Sam Bee: So spot on!

BBA: Glad you warned us. How ridiculous. He is ruining the government, and that is 'no art of the deal, it is failing quickly and poorly, imho.

WP: Good for him! Shame my state won't budge with this idea.

    Cartoon: Uh…okay.

I hope you get better with each passing day. You sound busy too. Take good care, relax when you can.
    Thanks, Tom.

  4. Samantha rocks…regardless of how late the video is seen!

Media Matters; Despite what Newt says, and he can lie with such a sweet smile?, Rumpy did not write that book, it was ghost written, and its author also, later, wrote "I Put Lipstck on a Pig," referring to Donny Diarrhea!

    WP: Sounds good to me.

  5. Puzzle — 3:44  Poor butterfly will be subjected to the rapacious appetite of the Puddy Tat!  Remember Puddy Tat, you may strain those intercostals if you try jumping after the flutterby!  Is t really worth it for a tiny snack?

YouTube — I'd like to HARD POWER Drumpf and his feckless band of rapists of the public purse!  Sam is so spot on!

YouTube — I would say that last Thursday and Friday proved that he is NOT the ultimate negotiator!  He demonstrated that he is nothing more than a bully (he said that he's going after Republicans who did not indicate that they intended to vote for the approval of the AHCA).  He's more like a fart in a whirlwind!  For those interested, click HERE for a MSNBC interview with Tony Schwartz, the writer of The Art of the Deal.

Washington Post — It seems to me that the price of gas was a big issue a few years ago with Republicans (like the Neutster) pledging a $2 per gallon gas price.  For DC, it appears that average price is $2.70 per gallon today, obviously above the Republican pledge, albeit an dated pledge.  While I think it makes perfect sense to raise the tax, can you see Republicans going there?  I wish DeFazio luck.

Cartoon — Yeh, men get an upper while women get nothing except an aspirin to hold between their knees which is not covered like viagara is.  That's Republican equality for you!

    Resist and Persist!!!

I hope you continue to recover using the prednisone.  Of course you don't want to rely on it for too long.  But easy does it.  I agree that at one point it became much more comfortable to sit as long as I did not move much.  Hang in there.

  6. Perhaps trying to post a few articles every now and then, which may take your mind of the pain just a little, may be the only thing for it for a while, TomCat. These injuries take a lot of time and all of your patience, I've learned. So try to find a posture you're most 'comfortable' in for a while and try to take your mind of the hurting with something you enjoy. Yes, I know that's darn difficult with Drumpf in the White House and the GOP 'ruling' Congress, but Drumpf's Trumpcare defeat must have had you laughing out loud for a second until the pain took over, right?

Sam Bee has said it all on that monstrosity of a 'hard power budget', hasn't she. And Drumpf could have said it all with one tweet too: "Budget? Frack you all".

MMC: Barf bag? Not really, this video was more of a ROTFLMAO for me. Republicans think that if they repeat a lie often enough it'll become the truth. Boy, were they wrong. It's like they were praying for a miracle: repeating Drumpf is a deal maker, if nothing else, doesn't miraculously turn him into the deal maker he let himself be described as by a ghost writer. All he did for Trumpcare is alienate about 40 Republicans, and possibly a number of his hard core voters. Some deal. LOL

WP: This taxation on gasoline, diesel and LPG to pay for road infrastructure is known in Europe as "user tax", i.e. the more people make use of the infrastructure by driving, the more fuel they use and the more they contribute to that infrastructure by paying that tax on fuel. The novelty of Defazio's idea, for Europe, is that it would go directly into a Highway Trust Fund and not into the (federal) government's coffers with the chance of being used for something different entirely (the 1%). Great proposition, so therefore unacceptable to Republicans.

Cartoon: So Drumpf can dump his wives when they get passed 35 and get himself a newer model.

  7. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
