Another Government Shutdown?

How many of you remember the last time Republicans shut down the government in 2013.  The problem then was that TEAbaggers believed that government shutdown was a good idea.  Boehner caved in and Obama negotiated a settlement in which almost all House Democrats joined with a minority of Republicans to reinstate government services, but not before we had lost our top credit rating, so Republicans cost Americans $millions.  The same TEAbaggers are still there.  Their beliefs have not changed.  On 4/29 government is scheduled to shut down again.  This time, instead of the President who cared and was a skillful negotiator, we will have a resident, who doesn’t even care, unless it can be pussy grabbed, speaks Russian, or has the Trump company logo.

gopVisionRepublicans are having trouble realizing that “as the heads of the government, they actually [have] to do something beyond angrily shaking their fists at the world,” Salon’s Matthew Sheffield has pointed out. That’s a lesson that may come too late for GOP, as a government shutdown is looming.

A shutdown is “more likely than not,” Axios reported on Monday, pointing to April 29 as the day that the government will cease its routine functions after the last continuing resolution on funding expires. The last time the government shut down was in 2013, an event that lasted for two weeks. But that shutdown was a political maneuver, designed by Republicans who vehemently opposed former President Barack Obama’s immigration policies. But this isn’t 2013, and the Republicans aren’t against anything. They just have an inability to govern.

“There are some folks in the Republican House caucus who have yet to make the pivot from complaining to governing,” Republican pollster Whit Ayres recently told the Associated Press. “And this is a White House controlled by a politician who is not really trying to lead a party.”…

We can only hope that the damage they will do will be less than the benefits of convincing America to nullify the Republican Party.  God help us!

  1. Of course THEY will blame the shutdown on THE DEMOCRATS.  I only hope the sheeple don't get even more taken in than they already are.  It's true that a lot of Dems won't vote for his budget – but it's also true that we are now in such a minority in the House that they don't need us to get things done – IF they were able to govern!

  2. Ted Cruz still owes and wasted 24 billion dollars for a Teabaggers hissy fit and the government shut down in 2013.

    .

  3. Oh boy. Another Sh– Fest to contend with.
Kindergartners act better than these guys. Good Grief!!
Quite frankly, the picture says it all.

  4. 1. The government is on the verge of shutting down anyway based on "trump's" signages alone. Repealing the government protections that prevented corrupt businesses from screwing workers, repealing the student loan protections, passing laws that place legal and illegal immigrants in the same soup, and trying to pass that horrendeous Trump/Ryan Care Act is more than enough to prove that he is at war with the American people.  You can't properly govern a people you are at war with…peace.

2.No human being would support that dragonian budget much less a Democrat/Independent. I have not included some Republicans/Teabaggers into the human being category…peace.

  5. By-the-way, i love that picture…peace.

  6. They can not govern, and they have no interest in doing so. They are slaves to their agendas of shrinking government, as per Grover Norquist's twisted mind, sending still more money up the economic ladder, and destroying anyhting left over from the New Deal, or that smells like it might be!

  7. We are in for more hell!

  8. “There are some folks in the Republican House caucus who have yet to make the pivot from complaining to governing,” Republican pollster Whit Ayres recently told the Associated Press. “And this is a White House controlled by a politician who is not really trying to lead a party.”

How many times did we hear Republicans chastise Obama for not leading?  Right, too many!  I believe their phrase was "leading from behind".  The WH is controlled by a person who is only out for his own agrandissement — not leading a party, not putting the average American first.

Drumpf has already proven that he is not a good negotiator with his handling of the AHCA.  He won't be able to stop a shutdown unfortunately, and that will cost the nation "bigly".

    Resist and Persist!!!

  9. I've been coming here longer than I thought, because I do remember that 2013 shutdown vividly, TomCat. I also remember that the proud instigator of that fiasco was Ted Cruz, Drumpf's rival candidate in the primaries, personally attacked many times during that time, "asked" to step out of the race by Drumpf presumably on a vague promise like VP, tauted and spurned after Drumpf was not elected by popular vote…Yes, the Ted Cruz that only destroyed Trumpcare the week before it would come to a vote.

So I think I've been coming here long enough to be able to predict that Ted will see his way clear again and will try to stir up the Freedom Caucus a tad more by finding enough items for them to be against, and take "leadership" again to bring government to a halt again, just to spite Drumpf. Because dear old Ted is made of the same cloth Drumpf is: both have overblown egos and both need the limelight to "function". By now Ted is in desperate need of some lime light.

    RESIST & PERSIST!

  10. Thanks all!  Hugs!!  We may not see TRUS pervert Cruz on this one.  The InsaniTEA wing in the House is bigger than it was four years ago.
