Wendy just left.  She sprayed and polished the stinky TomCat, applied some bait to keep the building’s roach problem out of here, did some light housework, fed me the numbers for financial record keeping, and enjoyed French toast for lunch.  Tomorrow please expect no more than a Personal Update.  I have an  appointment with Christine, my Ophthalmologist, to plan the procedures needed to remove my cataracts and correct the droop in my eyelids.  She will be dilating me fully, so I will be even blinder for the rest5 of the day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:46 (average 5:25).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From KP Daily Funnies: Funny or Die: Bathroom Cop

Doesn’t that "cop" look like Sean Spicer, aka Shitty Spice?  RESIST!!

FRom Daily Kos: A group of law professors from around the country has filed a professional misconduct complaint against White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, a graduate of George Washington University Law School who was admitted to the D.C. Bar in1995.

The letter, filed with the office that handles misconduct by members of the D.C. Bar, said Conway should be sanctioned for violating government ethics rules and “conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation,” the letter says.

The 15 professors, who specialize in legal ethics, cite several incidents, including a television interview in which Conway made the “false statement that President Barack Obama had ‘banned’ Iraqi refugees from coming into the United States for six months following the ‘Bowling Green Massacre,’ ” and the use of her position to endorse Ivanka Trump products.

“We do not file this complaint lightly,” the professors said in their filing. “We believe that, at one time, Ms. Conway, understood her ethical responsibilities as a lawyer and abided by them. But she is currently acting in a way that brings shame upon the legal profession. [emphasis original]

Cool! Will that bring Kellyanne Consensual out of hiding?  RESIST!!

From NY Times: Former Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez was elected chairman of the Democratic National Committee on Saturday, narrowly defeating Representative Keith Ellison of Minnesota to take the helm of a still-divided party stunned by President Trump’s victory but hopeful that it can ride the backlash against his presidency to revival.

The balloting, which carried a measure of suspense not seen in the party in decades, revealed that Democrats have yet to heal the wounds from last year’s presidential primary campaign. Mr. Perez, buoyed by activists most loyal to former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, won with 235 votes out of 435 cast on the second ballot.

I don’t dislike Tom Perez, who is anything but a DINO. I just prefer Keith Ellison. Also, Perez immediately made Keith his Deputy Director, confirming that progressives will have an influential voice, and that the days of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, when progressives were ignored, are over. Therefore, I’ll take a wait and see attitude.  He wants us to RESIST!!

  1. 4:17 (5:45)  Now if puddy tats had opposable thumbs, you could run those through a food processor and make a smoothie.

As many years as I have been doing this, today's trivia is news to me.  http://www.freekibble.com/kat/  (You don't have to get the right answer, but it's "shelter.")

Many people who are not Catholics love Pope Francis.  If you do, you may want to read this.  http://time.com/3714056/pope-francis-lent-2015-fasting/

KPDF – She is much better looking than SS.  But every bit as obnoxious.

DKos – Well, they certainly filed the complaint in the right place.  The Bar Association MIGHT look into it.  No one else would.

NYT – Also, it was a close race, with several ballots taken.  My only concern is that "Establishment" Dems backed Perez so strongly, when there as barely an inch of difference between them politically, I suspect they were trying to slap Progressives' faces, and fear they may think they succeeded.  But the two gentleman involved are doing the right (excuse me, correct) things.  Perez tweeted back to Trump (from memory so may not be 100% accurate):  "Call me Tom.  Don't get too happy.  Keith Ellison and I are going to be your worst nightmare."

Cartoon – I thought that was where the BS came OUT of.

  2. KPDF: Lordy….I can see this happening….how totally bizzare! imho

DK: Good to read that. About time.

NYT: I was hoping that KE would be chosen. Keith seemed more composed and articulate, getting to the 'meat' of issues at hand regarding the Dems. But TP did well making him his Deputy Director.

    Cartoon: Of course!!!

*Joanne, Good link re: Pope. I usually give up the usual….coffee, and chocolate, but I like the Pope's approach so much better. To fast from indifference but rather to 'feast on Love'. That's a challenge for me (considering how the RePugs are…), but one I will work on.

Sounds like you have had a very busy day! Good thoughts and prayers to you tomorrow, and hope all goes well for you. Safe journey to and from your appointment too. Relax, and enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

    • Thanks, Pat, I thought so too.  Christianity is not immune from being "dumbed down," and I think his concept shows very clearly just how "dumbed down" much of Christendom has become, and what a challenge actually living one's faith should be.

  3. It appears that both Perez (who was thought to be "too left-wing" to get approved as Sec. of Labor) and Ellison are dedicated to harness the RESIST energy emerging down at the greassroots level.  "All politics is local"

Good luck w/ your eye exam tomorrow.

  4. It's hard to imagine how they could enforce the anti-trans bathroom laws without something like the bathroom cop.  People never think this stuff through.

  5. Puzzle — 3:28  Fortunately, this Sasquatch does have opposable thumbs so it is a smoothie for me, sans spines!

KP Daily Funnies — This is so . . . so . . . repugnut!  When this first came up with NC, I thought people entering the ladies' bathroom would have to drop their pants upon entry.  How else could it be policed?  I would be offended and go into the men's room since the only "cop" is likely to be in the ladies' room.

    Resist and Persist!!!

Daily Kos — "…Conway should be sanctioned for violating government ethics rules and “conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation,” …" I can get behind that.  KelleyAnne, there are no such things as "alternative facts" unless you call them LIES!

    Resist and Persist!!!

NY Times — "…Perez immediately made Keith his Deputy Director, confirming that progressives will have an influential voice…" — Smart move.  Harness all the strength possible to rework the Democratic party.

    Resist and Persist!!!

Cartoon —  I thought the Fartfuhrer was the BS fountain . . . Old Faithful BS geyser!

    Resist and Persist!!!

Tomorrow morning I meet with my pastor to plan mum's service which is on Saturday afternoon.  My anxiety is on the rise and I had a full on anxiety attack around noon that lasted for about 4 hours.  It has been years since I had one that bad.  I finally had a nap which really helped.  I will be glad when this week is over.

    • I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time, Lynn. Your mother having passed away just recently, the anniversary of your father's demise weighing on your mind today and the preparations for your mother's service at its peak and the date drawing near: it's just too much to bear.  Don't push yourself too hard, dear friend; give yourself time and space. I know you feel you have time to spare now you don't have to take care of your mother, but use this time to go where your body takes you. Sleep, reminisce, listen to your favorite music, give your furbabies some extra play and stroke time, pamper yourself a bit with more than just a haircut 😉 It's time well spent, not wasted.

    • I know how debilititating anxiety attacks can be – and relieved to hear your nap helped.

Breathing exercises has helped for me – plus knowing that eventually it will stop.  If my critter were fun and cuddly, that might help, too.  But he's NOT – and I've already had my quoata of cat-bite cellulitis episodes, so I may scratch his head, ears and under his chin … if he's in the mood.

    • Deep breathing, as in meditative breathing sometimes stops anxiety attacks, as they run on adrenalin, and a long slow exhale can stop adrenal flow, as when you just avoided that car you did not see until the last second.

    • Stress is what underpins most panivc attacks, and like Mitch said deep diaphragmatic breathing is obe of the best techniques to relieve it.  Visualizing a peaceful scene simultaneously also helps.

  6. Good luck at the ophthalmologist, TomCat. I hope Christine can figure out a good schedule for you to fix your cataracts and eye lids. For a Dutch woman it funny to note how you're on first name basis with almost all your 'aides', medical professionals or otherwise. It clearly shows what a social feline you are, how easy people can get along with you. But sadly it may also show that medical necessity has you see them far too often. Let's hope that it'll soon be for the first reason only.
By the way: I think some mothers among us may have felt a little uncomfortable at the thought of you being "dilated fully" 😉 😉

KPDF: Yes, I can definitely see those bathroom cops help making America great again with a lot of pussy-grabbing and why Drumpf had te rescind Obama's edict. I wish those cops all the best with sniffing out the ding-dongs where there ought to be hoo-has only. I think there's going to be a rise in what we Dutch call "wild peeing", though.

DK: I love the way resistance shows up in unexpected ways from unexpected groups and individuals. Good for you, law professors, for taking Conway down on her professional misconduct and giving lawyers in general a bad name. Could American citizens come together and file a complaint for professional misconduct of a president and giving Americans a bad name in the World? Hmmm, you would probably have to put in your complaint at the White House, so that won't work.

NYT: If Joanne is right, the DINOs in the Democratic party thought that by voting for Perez they voted for the lesser of two evils and that the establishment can consolidate it's power with him as chairman. Looks like Tom Perez and Keith Ellison will have a tough job of uniting the party and reforming it into a more progressive party while at the same time resisting everything Drumpf and his enforcers come up with. Ellison's heart doesn't seem to be fully in it as he won't give up his seat in Congress for his new Deputy Director job Perez appointed him to because it will not take up very much of his time. Perhaps he thinks, like Bernie Sanders, he can do more in Congress as a progressive. I hope Perez is a bridge building man, because progressive Democrats were livid when Ellison lost. The divide is very deep and wide and to unite the party will take much energy away from resisting Drumpf. We'll have to wait and see, but I hope not too long.

  7. I thought it was a class act for Perez and Ellison to unite as they did…a lesson for all of us as united we stand, divided we fall.  It must irk trump no end that there is a Latino and a Muslim leading the forces against him.

    • " It must irk trump no end that there is a Latino and a Muslim leading the forces against him."

Very true!  But then again, Twitler has shown that his "Irk Threshold" is astoundingly low.  He's worse than a 2 y/o toddler when it comes to endleslly whining!

  8. TC, I wish you the best of luck with your Opthalmologist!!

    KPDF is wonderful!

DK: I had to check back to be sure this was not really a Borowitz moment…may they nail her dumb ass!!!!!!!!!

NYT and the DNC: This does look hopeful.  The DNC just has to keep Debbie on that desert island, out there…somewhere…away…far away.

Cartoon: UGH!  Spoiled my appetite, you did.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
