I’m struggling through another very busy day.  It’s not so much that I have more to do than I did a year ago, as it is that my vision makes everything I do take much longer.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:53 (average 4:58).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): Donald Trump Must Go | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann

I’ve never seen anyone present evidence so much like a machine gun.  I’ll summarize in two words. Amen!! RESIST!!

From Politico: House Republicans next week plan to derail a Democratic resolution that would have forced disclosure of President Donald Trump’s potential ties with Russia and any possible business conflicts of interest, according to multiple House sources.

Seeking to avoid a full House vote on the so-called “resolution of inquiry” — a roll call that would be particularly embarrassing and divisive for the right — Republicans will send proposal by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) to the House Judiciary Committee for a panel vote on Tuesday, two Democratic sources said. The GOP-controlled committee is expected to kill the resolution.

Without committee action, obscure parliamentary procedures would allow Democrats to call the resolution to the floor for a vote by the full House. But rejection by the Judiciary panel all but assures the measure will never see a floor vote.

Here is a list of House Judiciary Committee members. If one is from your state, please demand approval. RESIST!!

From NY Times: Reduced to their weakest state in a generation, Democratic Party leaders will gather in two cities this weekend to plot strategy and select a new national chairman with the daunting task of rebuilding the party’s depleted organization. But senior Democratic officials concede that the blueprint has already been chosen for them — by an incensed army of liberals demanding no less than total war against President Trump.

Immediately after the November election, Democrats were divided over how to handle Mr. Trump, with one camp favoring all-out confrontation and another backing a seemingly less risky approach of coaxing him to the center with offers of compromise.

Now, spurred by explosive protests and a torrent of angry phone calls and emails from constituents — and outraged themselves by Mr. Trump’s swift moves to enact a hard-line agenda — Democrats have all but cast aside any notion of conciliation with the White House. Instead, they are mimicking the Republican approach of the last eight years — the “party of no” — and wagering that brash obstruction will pay similar dividends.

To do otherwise would be suicidal. RESIST!!

  1. 3:34  And this one is real, not photoshopped

Keith – The machine gun is inexorable, but slow enough to hear, understand, and remember.  BTW, Bannon actually admittied the Cabinet choices were designed not to lead but to destroy their bureaus.

Politico – The only one from my state is Republican Ken Buck, who is so stupid that while running for the Republican nomination for Senate, he attempted to disqualify a female opponent on the ground that she wore high heels.  He said this WHILE WEARING HIGH HEELED COWBOY BOOTS.  He's not my district, but I'll try anyway.

NYT – The vote is today.  I haven't seen any result (but then I didn't sign up to "be first to know.") Apparently neither Ellison nor Perez has a clear majority and there is some talk of a third, "compromise candidate" – God forbid!

Cartoon – Fascinating case.  I'm glad it established the Court's authority to determine Constitutionality, but Marbury was not happy.

  2. KO: "He must go", "Emotional Terriorism", " Considerable Comfort to our enemies"……Well said, Keith! He Must Go!!! NOW!!

Politico: What a bummer. I'll get in touch with mine, and also pass this on to my gal pals.  ugh!

NYT: I watched part of this the other night.  South Carolina Party Chair Jaime Harrison said: ""This is now a national competition in every state, and we can't cede any ground or territories to Republicans." We need to rise up!!

RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST, RESIST!!!!!!!

Hope that you rest your eyes, and take frequent breaks too. Enjoy your evening, take care, and thanks, Tom.

*Joanne, really liking your 'Resist' signs. They get better and better each day! Thank you!

    • Aaaw, thanks.  Feel free to reuse them, unless I say one or more is not mine.  I have a couple that aren't mine which I haven't used yet (holding off until desperate LOL).

  3. TC, you must take good care of our favorite feline!

Keith: Spot on!  But, I believe it was Lenin who used that "Enemy of the people " phrase.  Syphlitic?  that would be good karma!  But, no, I think, lunacy, in and of itself, is much more accurate, as in "Flaming Orange Psychopath!"

Politico: No surprise there.  None of those representing me are on the committee.

NY T: Cool, that's what we need, more of "Let's see if I can shoot myself in BOTH feet this time!" from the Dems!!!!!!!!

  4. Puzzle — 2:50  Oh little Lorikeet, saved from those rapacious jaws of Puddy Tat!  No Lorikeet fricassée tonight Puddy Tat!

YouTube — Love that pic of Drumpf — makes him look like he is laid out in a body bag!  Every point Keith made is spot on!  However his voice sounds almost tired, not the staccato rapid fire he usually uses.  Drumpfenfarten must go!

    Drumpfenfarten must go!

    Resist and Persist!!!

Politico — According to an Alternet article, the reason that Republicans don't want to rock the Drumpfenfarten boat is because "he carried the vast majority of districts they represent by a very wide margin."  In other words, Republicans are afraid that by  disavowing Drumpf, no matter how evil and unAmerican he is, they will lose power.  And we know that power and greed are the cornerstones of Republican life.  Do the people have the right to know about the dealings of the country's top leader?  Absolutely!  The power invested in the top position is incredible and we already know that Drumpfenfarten has criminal actions in his background, not to mention his lack of ethics.  Along with his sidekick, Prince Bannon, Drumpfenfarten has designs on creating an authoritarian régime.  I wonder, could he be the West's version of Kim Jong-Un?

    Resist and Persist!!!

NY Times — "Instead, they are mimicking the Republican approach of the last eight years — the “party of no” — and wagering that brash obstruction will pay similar dividends."  Based what we have witnessed this past month, this is the only avenue open  but it will be difficult, very difficult.  I can hear McTurtle already sounding off about Democrats obstructing the nation's business.  Nothing like Republican projection!

    Resist and Persist!!!

Cartoon — It seems that the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans were almost as fractious as today's Democrats and Republicans.  As JD states, the decision established the Court's authority to determine constitutionality.

    Resist and Persist!!!

A very sleepy day here today.  I awoke to snow but it was gone by about 1300 hours and the rest of the day was cool but sunny.  Next weekend is mother's memorial service and my brother will arrive on Friday.  There is a fair amount of work before then.  I'll be glad when this is all done.  One good thing today, I was advised by our car insurance provider that as soon as I hit 65 years I get a 25% discount on top of the good driver discounts that I get as a result of 45 years of no fault driving.  Discounts galore starting in April!  laugh

  5. Your vision may be one important factor when it comes to being busy and feeling tired, TomCat, but I'm sure the continuing onslaught of Drumpfian BS takes it's toll too. Take intermittent naps, it'll give your eyes and mind some rest.

Keith Olbermann: Keith is always the most forceful when he's subdued and I've never seen him more subdued. A hundred more reasons can be added to this video, but there's no need. Keith Olbermann has said it all:

    HE MUST GO!

Politico: I still think there's more to it than embarrassment and divisiveness that has GOP leaders in Congress trying to kill any investigation into Drumpf's personal Russian ties. The leadership either knew about it and kept it hidden, they were involved in it themselves, or simply that Drumpf has a grip on them and if he goes down so will they. Whatever the reason, they'll do anything to keep things as they are.

NYT: It's rather telling that after a majority vote loss and help from Russia to get the most 'incompetent' Republican Resident and administration in power, it is the Democrats who are at their weakest at this time. I see the same thing happening to Labour in the UK and in The Netherlands, so perhaps it's time to let these governments self destruct so that we can start completely anew. Trouble is that we probably won't survive such self-destruction, so we have to make clear that the people will resist and prevail with or without the Democrats. I hope Sanders will take his cue from a badly chosen new Democratic leadership and start his Socio-Democratic party to prevent further decay.

  6. Keith Olbermann is simply and factually wonderful in his commentaries.

HE, not-my-president, who must and cannot be named, must GO. lol.
    .

  7. Thanks all.  Pooped Hugs!!
