Stumpy is behaving much better today, and mounted George without difficulty.  It’s a very busy day for me.  I took a brief nap this morning to be sure to be upright when Store to Door arrives with a large grocery order.  This evening, Wendy will be here to de-stink and polish the TomCat, to help with some light housework, and to have chili dogs for supper.  I didn’t tell her, because I did the last time we had chili.  She mentioned it at work, and her school cancelled classes the next day.

Today’s took me 3:31 (average 4:57).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): Trump is Beyond Reckless With Our National Security

Reckless is indeed an understatement!  RESIST!!

From The Rachel Maddow Show: DCCC weak contesting Georgia district Trump barely won

Rachel Maddow points out the opportunity for Democrats to take over Tom Price’s Georgia congressional as he moves to become Donald Trump’s HHS secretary and yet the DCCC seems half-hearted about taking advantage.

Contact the DCCC (202) 863-1500 and tell them to get off their asses!  RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Russian President Vladimir Putin is “starting to get concerned” that the puppets he installed in the executive branch of the U.S. government “might not be up to the task at hand,” sources confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the flameout of the national-security adviser Michael Flynn was only the most recent event that has caused Putin to wonder if the figureheads he propelled into office are “just too dim-witted” to serve the goals of the Russian Federation.

“When you choose a puppet, you’re looking for a sweet spot,” one source close to Putin said. “You want to choose someone who’s dumb enough to be manipulated, but not so dumb that he can’t find the light switches.”

“Increasingly, it looks like we missed that sweet spot,” the source said.

Spot on, Andy! Fortunately for Putin (R-RU), his puppet has a horde of other equally treacherous Republicans goose-stepping behind their Fuhrer to help him.  RESIST!!

  1. 4:37  Quite a clip.

YT/GQ – As I was watching this, I was thinking, "Yet, there are people who STILL think there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats – they are both (fill in your favorite word)."  I just don't get it.  What world do these people live in?

RMS – Ah, yes, I was just looking at this story via Egberto Willies (who, incidentally, is furious.)  Jungle primaries depress me, but I do see it could work to our advantage if we had someone to run.  And you would think we could find someone to run.  I don't know the district well enough to siggest any names.  Could John LEwis suggest any names?  Has anyone even asked him?

TNY – Dear heaven, this does mirror reality.  Intelligence says Russia is seriously worried that Trump might be impeached or assassinated.  I suspect they are TOO worried, because all the fools who are assassin-crazy are on Trump's side (we have our crazies, but they express it differently), and, as you point out, TC, all those who might impeach him are too busy kissing his – um, body parts.  Ring!  yeah, his ring, that's it.

Cartoon – Making no one happy except Teddy Roosevelt.  Well, at least we did get Teddy Roosevelt out of the chain of events, and, though a Republican, he accomplished some good things, at a time when Republicans still could.  But is was despicable in the first place.

  2. Hey – we want those young 'uns to get their education (at least as much as possible before DeVos destroys it.)

Reserve your chili dogs for Friday or Saturday!

  3. Puzzle — 3:29  No butterfly fricassée tonight Puddy Tat!

YouTube — When this whole national security debacle started coming out and there was talk of unencrypted emails on personal unprotected cell phones, talks with the  Russians etc etc, I thought of his lambasting of Clinton over the 34,000 emails and the private servers.  What a hypocrite! — nothing new there to us here in the choir!  I would love to be present when he is publicly confronted with his hypocrisy.  I can just hear him denying his attacks on Clinton or saying it was only campaign rhetoric which does not matter.  I beg to differ!  Flynn and Drumpfenfarten need to experience long term, the inside of a prison cell, and not the same one.

    Resist!!!

TRMS — If they are not part of the solution, then they are part of the problem.  If you don't buy a lottery ticket, you can't win!  All Dems are doing is showing voters that they don't care and that they don't deserve to win.

    Resist!!!

The New Yorker — "… if things do not improve markedly, he will not hesitate to “make some changes,” " — Yeh, a little poison on a cloth or poison in a tiny needle or . . .   Putin making changes would probably do the world a favour when it comes to Drumpfenfarten.

    Resist!!!

    Cartoon — From Wikipedia

Maine is best known for her loss in Havana Harbor on the evening of 15 February 1898. Sent to protect U.S. interests during the Cuban revolt against Spain, she exploded suddenly, without warning, and sank quickly, killing nearly three quarters of her crew. The cause and responsibility for her sinking remained unclear after a board of inquiry investigated. Nevertheless, popular opinion in the U.S., fanned by inflammatory articles printed in the "yellow press" by William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer, blamed Spain. The phrase, "remember the Maine, to Hell with Spain", became a rallying cry for action, which came with the Spanish–American War later that year.

  4. You better not get yourself near a public building after eating your infamous chili and mention that you're going there on the internet, because Drumpfians may get confused, as they so easily are, and have you down as a terrorist planning an attack, TomCat. If the consequences of your chili can get a school to cancel it's classes, there's no telling what they might do. 😀 👿

Keith Olbermann: There's little to add to this, is there. It's absolutely mind boggling, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen this pass by on TV in the past few days. Our jaws couldn't drop any further, but they are now dislocated and frozen in a permanent WTF state, I can tell you. One question I haven't come up yet has been bothering me so I'll ask it here: Is it routine to show classified information to your diner guest, who doesn't have any clearance, even if that guest is the PM of an allied country? If it is, it makes me wonder what Drumpf has shared with his big friend Netanyahu yesterday.

Rachel Maddow: It's an open election in Georgia's 6th Congressional District and because the DCCC is letting it slide (again) I think it's about time to stand with a true progressive (independent) if there is one. Sorry, but it should be clear by now that some individual Democrats may try and save America from the GOP, but the party just isn't up to it. It will be down to grass-roots

TNY: Andy must have his own ties with the Russian government and must also have regular conversations with that "source close to Putin". How else would he know exactly what Putin is thinking! 😉 😉 😉
