Maher3

We can almost always count on Bill Maher to remind us of highly necessary truths at the same time that he provokes the kind of laughter that is a balm to a Trump-weary soul.  Bill wasn’t as funny last night as he normally is.  Of course there were ma few good laughs.  After all, he IS Bill Maher, but this may be the most serious I’ve seen him, especially during his New Rules.  Here are three clips for your elucidation and enjoyment.

Is Trump Tired of Losing?

That’s a good analysis of Loony Toons from the Fuhrer and the Fascists: whiney little bitches!!

The Al Franken Millennium

Al is the person who invented the Republican character, "Supply Side Jesus." If you thought I did, I stole it from him, and do respect him. However, I think he’s being too collegial in some of the things he says.

New Rule: Make America Learn Again

When I was young, I got to learn how to think and how to learn, Today, with Republicans controlling most school boards, text books and curricula, students are learning what to think, what to memorize, and not to learn instead. Would that we could change that! School Board Member is far too important a job to give to a Republican!

  1. Oh, I don't know – I literally laughed out loud at "he's going to buy all his poison from Macy's."

Al – But how would he know what Republicans are saying behind closed dorrs if he didn't have lunch with them?  And after all, a guy has to eat.  As long as he manages to keep it down….  And he is right that we can't stop them from having confirmation hearings.  And – isn't it the House that must vote to impeach?  (And then the Senate can hold hearings on that.)

    New Rules – AMEN!

  2. Love Bill's show, and I was glad to see Senator Franken talking too. Piers Morgan (dt supporter) was on the panel. He got his plug in, and so did Jim Jefferies, an Australian comedian who expressed how he felt and with his comeback to Morgan. wow!!!
btw: Teachers are cringing!!!!! over DeVos being SoE. ugh!!

  3. Will check it all out tomorrow!

  4. BTW, Palin is personna non grata in Canada so I sincerely hope Palin is not in line for Ambassador to Canada,

I like Franken.  Perhaps he was a little too collegial, but if you have to work everyday with these wing nut Republicans, perhaps holding your cards close to your chest is a requirement.

Amen!  Life is an exercise in continuous learning.  All Republicans want are people who will follow them and do what they say.

    Great having Bill here again.

    Resist!!!

  5. Yes, with politics as bleak as they are right now, and no end in sight despite all the RESISTANCE and the little breaks it got this week, it is rather hard to be funny for even the best comedians. Bit Bill did manage to get giggles here and there, thank goodness.

    1. I had my personal giggle when Drumpf held hands with Japanese president Abe for 18 seconds, and added a little pad on Abe's hand with the other, and even Abe, born into a culture where a straight face is everything, couldn't hide his embarrassment and discomfort. Japanese do not shake hands in their culture – they bow to each other – in international relations they do shake hands, but it is very brief and limp. Drumpf, as usual, was clueless and couldn't care less about embarrassing a guest.
I was struck by Bill's remark that Drumpf had twittered his nasty Nordstrom tweet about pulling Ivanka's clothing line during a security briefing. If that is true, things in the White House are even worse than expected.

    2. Al Franken kept pointing to Republicans having the majority as the reason why nothing can be done about Drumpf and his administration,. However when well-prepared Bill asked him why in a meeting with Drumpf where Democrats had the majority (6-4) nothing was said about Drumpf lying that thousands of illegal voters were bussed into New Hampshire from Massachusetts to vote against him and a Republican candidate, Franken dodged it and replied what he would have said instead. Those six Democrats shouldn't be excused, they should be named and shamed.

    3. In all seriousness, Bill is right, and Americans need to fall in love with knowledge again and demand that their country is run by smart people.

    BE SMART AND RESIST!

  6. Thanks and hugs!
