It’s another busy day, and tomorrow will be more so.  It will be a Wendy day with not only the dreaded task, but also, assembling a floor lamp and replacing a broken table.  And it’s the highest Holy Day in the Church if the Ellipsoid Orb.  I shall be meditating.  Normally I would not care who wins, but given the New England Traitors’ affinity for Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten, I want a bird shit bonanza!  Go Falcons!!!  Then I need to rest, because Monday I need to be in the lobby by 7:30 AM to be sure to make my 9:20 appointment with Megan.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:03 (average 5:54).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The Rachel Maddow Show: Trump tries rewriting history on disastrous raid’s planning

Colin Kahl, former national security adviser to Vice President Biden, talks with Rachel Maddow about how the Trump regime is distorting history in an attempt to shift the blame for a disastrous military raid onto the Obama administration.

Yesterday I told you Trump lied about how he murdered a Navy Seal and innocent women and children. Now you know what he did and how he lied about it. Where are all those Republican Benghazi bullshitters? RESIST!!

From The Last Word: What’s next for Trump’s travel ban?

President Trump’s executive order has been halted temporarily — but what does it mean long-term for visa holders? Lawrence discusses with constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe and ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero.

Now I wonder if the Fuhrer will even obey the court order. RESIST!!

From NY Times: President Trump on Friday moved to chisel away at the Obama administration’s legacy on financial regulation, announcing steps to revisit the rules enacted after the 2008 financial crisis and to back away from a measure intended to protect consumers from bad investment advice.

After a White House meeting with executives from Wall Street, Mr. Trump signed a directive aimed at the Dodd-Frank Act, crafted by the Obama administration and passed by Congress in response to the 2008 meltdown. He also signed a memorandum that paves the way for reversing a policy, known as the fiduciary rule, that requires brokers to act in a client’s best interest, rather than seek the highest profits for themselves, when providing retirement advice.

In short, when you hire a bank or equivalent in trust to represent YOUR interest, Republicans want to allow the bank to screw you to maximize their own profit.  We knew this was coming. RESIST!!

  1. For Lynn, on the passing of her Mother

(Since I don't know if she'd go back to read it when she posted it, I'm putting it here)

  2. 4:46  I'll refrain from the obvious pun.

    Anti-Gorsuch petitions still dribbling in:
    http://action.now.org/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=12697

TRMS –  I had read something about this (not that I needed to to know that the Cheeto Benito is lying).  This appears to be about as clear as clear can be without including classified information.  Incidentally, all the Benghazi bullshitters are still around.  They are the ones yelling "MSN is fake news!"

TLW – There were Court Orders issued the very day the executive arder was signed.  And they were being ignored.  And as far as I know, there is still a four month old (probably four and a half months by now) who needs heart surgery who can't get into the country.  Grrr.  The State Department lost no time reinstating visas, but if the orders are being ignored at the airports….  I don't see Trump respecting any court order which he doesn't agree with.  As far as personnel on the spot respecting court orders, that will depend on who they are.  And this will certainly show who they are.

NYT – Speaking as someone who has studied professionally what financial planners do, I will never hire a financial planner, and I advise you the same.  The BEST thing they can do for you is to evade taxes on your behalf.

    Cartoon – Groan.  (Good, though.)

  3. Aww….beautiful, Nameless.

I too, wish her Comfort during this time.

  4. RM: Major screw up by dt with lives lost. Of course, he's going to lie. His whole life is lying, and blaming others with disdain.

TLW: Good video. Protests will continue, and we'll see a continuance of these cases in courts. Unbelievable!! and Tragic!

Cartoon: dt/repugs: The only choice for these clearly confused ID's (who think they are weirdly normal) is to definitely maybe, run slowly away fast.

Sounds like you have a busy day lined up tomorrow and Monday! Yes, GO FALCONS! Having a small Super Bowl party here, just a few light refreshments, and snacks to go with the game. I hope they beat the pants of of NE too. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  5. Yes, as I do not really care who wins, except I do believe that football was deflated, and it is time for some payback, I would also like to see the Falons win for political reasons!

The News: The Empty Orange will take no responsibility for anything that does not fall his way, period.  Th GOP has had an agenda   aimed at taking anything from anybody and sucking into their own pockets, for as long as I can recall, and that goes back to last f*****g mid-century!  De-regulation, and the idea of small government is just their polite euphemism for rampant greed!  When their saint, Ronnie, said "You can have it all!" they were ready to take it all, literally!

  6. Puzzle — 4:09  I think I got hosed!

TRMS — I believe it was during the confirmation hearing of Betsy DeVos that she repeatedly replied "I believe in accountability."  Now we find out how much Drumpfenfarten believes in accountabillity . . . NOT AT ALL!  He writes, or rather rewrites, history to his own views.  He only wants success . . . after all, he counts himself as only successful, even after 4 bankruptcies.  Accountability, integrity, preparedness . . . he knows nothing of these!  And now, people are dead, people that should not be dead had things been done properly.  There will never be a congressional hearing because Republicans won't drag him through the mud that will undoubtedly grow deeper.

    Resist!!!

The Last Word — Drumpfenfarten will not go away quietly,  He sees himself, I am convinced, as above the law and as the maker of laws.  I smell grounds for impeachment.

    Resist!!!

NY Times — When I first read this, I became angry, very angry.  And everyone should be very angry.  This is condoning theft and fraud.  Change that . . . this legalises theft and fraud at the behest of the government.  If someone gets caught breaking into your house, after due process, they go to jail.  This action should never be allowed and anyone trying to avail themselves of ill gotten gains should likewise end up in jail.  As a banker (not a bankster), I prided myself on doing what was in my client's best interest, and if there was something better elsewhere, I said so.

    Resist!!!

Cartoon — LOL!!! Oxy or not, Republicans and Drumpfenfarten are all morons.

    Resist!!!

I finally fell asleep at 1300 hours and was awakened about 1700 hours by the sound of a snow shovel.  We've had approximately 15 cm (6 inches) of snow again, with more on the way, and my neighbour was doing my walkway.  I have slept much of the time and I am tired now.  It must be in response to the sleep deficit I have built over the past 2 weeks.  It has been a long day.

  7. Has Drumpf and his acolytes gotten the better of you, TomCat, and have you taken your anger and frustration out on your furniture? 😉
I hope assembling the new stuff will go well, that the Falcons win and you get enough rest to get to Megyn fit as a fiddle.

Rachel Maddow: The way the Drumpf administration is characterizing the process on January 6 under Obama "is absolutely false", aka a lie! Don't let them get away with it, demand justice for those who got killed and prevent further loss of lies.

Lawrence O'donnell: Things go very quickly and the news here last night (CNN Europe) was that border control were literally turning back the clock on all the "destroyed" visas. In a database that's a very easy thing to do and all the previously granted visas were in the process of being reinstated. Then the Drumpf administration has taken the temporary halt to the federal court of appeal in SAn Francisco to ask for a halt, i.e. that the "destruction" of those visas would not be undone and the visa holders still couldn't get in. Apparently this halt has NOT been granted, so those visas are viable again. CNN said that it was business as usual at airports; possibly because they can't overrule the status of a visa as set by the State Department. Drumpf will undoubtedly take it further and many think that he'll win in the end. He'll have his people in the right places by then, so chances are the experts are right.

NYT: Drumpf is pretending to drain the swamp while in fact strengthening the dikes around the cesspool of Wall Street. Alright, lets be honest here; he's no longer pretending to drain the swamp, he made the dregs part of his administration and now fulfilling his promise to the people he really cares about: the executives of Wall Street. Yes, Drumpf is making his America great again and guess who's going to pay for that?

    RESIST!

Cartoon: They were to late with the oxygen mask: brain damage has already been done.

  8. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
