Portland is now a sweltering 43°, and the street below my windows has transformed to slush after over a week od snow and ice.  I’m finally getting a grocery delivery this afternoon, and I’m writing late to be sure to be up when it gets here.  Putting it away will be lots od extra work, because it’s two weeks worth.  Later, Wendy is coming to give the stinky TomCat a fresh fragrance.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:06 (average 4:37).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (GQ Channel): The One Crucial Question Trump Refuses to Answer

No traitor would answer that question. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: Former President George W. Bush is eagerly counting down the days until he is no longer the worst President in U.S. history, Bush confirmed on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters at his home, Bush said that he “could hardly wait” until Friday, when he will be officially bounced from the worst-President slot.

“I have to admit, I never thought I’d see this day in my lifetime,” the former President said. “When you leave office with the nation in smoldering ruins, you sort of come to accept that you’re gonna be worst for a long, long time.”

“I guess you could say I set the bar kind of high, worst-wise,” he chuckled.

Dang Andy! I never thought I would miss Crawford Caligula!!  RESIST!!

From Daily Kos:

Heinz-Christian Strache is the head of Austria’s Freedom Party. A few weeks ago it was reported that Trump’s scary national security advisor, Mike Flynn, had met with Strache to discuss whatever it is people discuss inside of volcano underground lairs.  …

…Flynn seems to have a penchant for finding neo-Nazi types all throughout Europe to have conversations with. Now, according to Strache’s Facebook page [Republican delinked] and an English language Austrian news source, it looks like Mr. Strache got himself an invite to the Reich’s Trump’s big day.

The invitation allegedly came from the US-Congressman from Iowa, Steve King, who is known for his ultraconservative views and strong support for Trump. King made a trip to Vienna in October 2016 to visit with party members during the height of the election campaign. Following an inquiry by the APA, a speaker for the former presidential candidate and FPÖ vice president, Norbert Hofer has said he will "neither confirm nor deny" if Hofer is part of the delegation.

While Americans boycott, Republicans invite foreign Nazis and they attend!  RESIST!!

  1. 4:16  Well, I hope it isn't toxic.

Faithful America has a petition to the Washington National Cathedral – Readers Digest version, "Stop Cooperating with Donald Trump."
    http://act.faithfulamerica.org/sign/cathedral_inauguration/?t=1&akid=974.240419.g_P5dh

YT/GQ – Well of course he wouldn't answer.  Or he would lie through his teeth.  I'm not quite sure what the difference is.

TNY – Yeah, I'll bet he's counting the days.  I doubt that he believes he really is the worst President up till now, but I gather he has grasped that the vast majority of everyone else thinks so.

DKos – It's hard to grasp how so many people manage to miss the red flags.  This cartoon may be a little bit of a stretch from the basic topic, but not much of one, really:

Cartoon – Form?  There's a form to fill out?  That would probably surprise him.

  2. YT/KO: "Poison Word Salad". Yup!! That sums Don the Con up pretty well, and his Cabinet too! Love KO.

NYer: But….he'll be the second worst President. Guess that's not as bad as being the First, eh? lol

DK: So unbelievably horrible, (and depressing). UGH!

    *Thank you Joanne, signed petition.

You sound like you will be busy, glad that your groceries are coming in, and Wendy too! Hope you have a relaxing evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. YTGQ: Sometime, that now seems it was in the age of the dinosaurs, I thought, outloud, perhaps here, that if Rumpy got the nomination, and so forth, that he would come to rue the day, as ALL of his secrets would spill out of the woodwork.  Boy, I hope tht time comes really soon!

DK: Saw that on e-mail.  So, instead of the never-in-existence "International Jewish Conspiracy," we have a probable "International Fascist Conspiracy?"

Cartoon: Yeah, this clown probably never even learned to sign his name.

  4. New Yorker:

Well, compared to what's coming, I'd have to answer: "YES!"

  5. Nameless, you PEGGED IT!

Sorry. Neck problems. See ya when the fronts align.

Don't forget the Standing Rock and the rest of the Water Protectors!

  6. Puzzle — 3:09  Puddy Tat, quit salivating over my butterfly!

YouTube — Get the tar and feathers ready!  Whether Drumpfenfarten answers the question or not, we all know the answer and know the evidence.  Get the rope ready.  There's a lynching . . . er an impeachment on the horizon!

    Resist!!!

The New Yorker — The Village Idiot is replaced by the Village Lecher as of 20/01/2017.  Now there's a day that shall llive in infamy!

    Resist!!!

Daily Kos — Six degrees of separation?  I don't think the world neo Nazi fascists are even that far removed from each other.

"Strache confirmed this on his page. Steve King is arguably one of the most seemingly psychopathic lawmakers in the history of the country. To list out every crazy thing he says and does would remind you of exactly how Donald Trump became the Republican Party’s nominee for president."

    Resist!!!

Cartoon — Another ammosexual that needs to lose some weight starting with that howitzer around his neck!

    Resist!!!

With all that is going on, and recognising my own trepidation with Drumpfenfarten's inauguration but hours away, I heard Niemöller's words calling!

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

                                                                                 Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984)

    Resist!!!

  7. New Yorker – well done Andy!  (Who'd have thought that Bush would be [almost] missed?!).  Just as Nick Leeson seems to have been regarded by his colleagues as not a felon but a 'kind of John the Baptist' leader, it seems the Right just gets getting worse and worse, each desperately trying to outdo the other.

Daily Kos – if the varied peoples of Europe can't realise the dangers of this lot in the upcoming elections there, we are all doomed!  They have been flying to and fro across the world advising each other on how to lie, get publicity and con the voters – please God the Far Right loses!

  8. Glad to see you're getting back on track a bit now temperatures are going up. I do hope that'll also take care of your arthritis and COPD, TomCat. Getting cleansed may just do the trick too.

YT(GQC): Keith is right to ask this question again and again. Drumpf will never answer it, and he doesn't need to as long as the media let him get away with not answering it. If they dare to ask the question, they haven't even the guts to pursue an answer, skipping to the next question. Asking it has become a formality, waiting for an answer or even pursuing an answer isn't part of that formality. Anyone falling for that? Yes, it is a matter worthy of impeachment, but it won't be pursued until the Republicans deem the time ripe and have covered all the tracks leading to their own involvement.

TNY: Andy seems to forget that it took Dubya eight years of hard work to get America to the point of smouldering ruins and himself in the bottom slot. Drumpf takes it all in the first day of his non-presidency. Makes me almost feel sorry for Dubya.

DK: If the presidential election was rigged by a foreign power to get Drumpf the minority vote, having foreign Nazis over to attend the inauguration shouldn't come as such a surprise. Drumpf can't face any empty seats – he'd have a public meltdown – and any local Nazi of renown is already spoken for in the cabinet or in his entourage, so the poor guy had to to desperate measures and have them flown in from Europe, the birthplace of fascism, to get some quality fascists in; the best money can buy.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
