I’m writing later than normal today, because Store to Door is coming with my groceries for the week, and I have to be up and awake when they get here.  Then Wendy is coming this evening to ungrungify the TomCat.  Tomorrow, please expect no more than a Personal Update from me.  I’m venturing forth at a time when the temperature will be near 20° for an appointment with Courtney, my Physical Terrorist.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:33 (average 5:11).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (TYT Channel): Megyn Kelly Leaving Fox News

What a terrible move by NBC! When she gets her daytime show, protest to and boycott the sponsors. This is what qualified her to get her job at the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise.

RESIST!!

From All In: Protesters arrested in Sen. Sessions’ office

Larry Cohen, Chair of the Democracy Initiative, a coalition opposing Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions’ nomination as Attorney General, joins Ari Melber to discuss the sit-in and subsequent arrests happening at Sessions’ office today.

Kudos to the protestors!!  RESIST!!

From Rev. John Pavlovitz: I’m a Christian and a pastor and I stand fully against Donald Trump.

Here are 25 reasons why, in no particular order:

1. Because peace-loving Muslims should have as much religious freedom in America as peace-loving Christians.
2. Because LGBTQ people are beautiful and they deserve every right and liberty this country has for its citizens.
3. Because I have a wife and a mom and a sister and a daughter, all of whom I love and respect.
4. Because Black Lives Matter.
5. Because character still counts.
6. Because declaring war isn’t something responsible leaders do cavalierly or for cheap applause.
7. Because a person’s right to marriage shouldn’t be the jurisdiction of someone currently on their third.
8. Because to legitimately claim Christianity you need to at least slightly resemble Jesus.
9. Because we’re all immigrants here.
10. Because I teach my son not to be a bully.

Amen!! Click through for the other fifteen!  How different authentic Christians are from, Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians!

  1. NBC Hires Megyn Kelly, Racist Attitudes and All

Megyn Kelly, a known racist, is unfit to be in your NBC programming line-up. Shame on you for hiring Megyn Kelly. I will no longer watch nor support your NBC as you are no longer will be a good news and independent station. With the hiring of Megyn, you have become another Faux Noise, KKK, White Supremacist,  propaganda machine. Shame on you!

  2. 4:32  So it blooms yellow and is in the mint family (which is YOOGE).

YT(TYT) – I also thought it was a poor marketing move.  I don't see her bringing one Fox viewer over (opinion there seems about equally divided between "She's proved herself a traitor and I'll never watch her again" and I already knew she was a traitor and already stopped watchung her.") to NBC.  I do see her losing NBC a chunk of viewers.

All In – From what I have seen, the protestors are doing a great job.  All good wishes to them!

John P – Leslie Salzillo has discovered one of my favorite people.  He blogs under the name of "Stuff that Needs to Be Said." Today's post is entitled "Conservative White Christians Need Jesus."  He specifies in it exactly which Jesus they need – and it ain't the one they have.  I have not yet looked at the comments but I'll bet they're a sight.

Cartoon – Consider the Stamp Stampede.  It is PERFECTLY LEGAL to stamp your bills in red with things like "Not To Be Used For Bribing Politicians" (my personal favorite.)  Frankly, I expected some blowback.  I don't use cash very often, but I have only heard one comment, and it was positive.

    RESIST !!!

  3. YT: I will not endorse NBC with her on board. Period. *Thanks, Jim for your links.

All In: Proud of them, and Kudos to all the protesters.

John Pavlovitz: Love this!!! I just signed up for his newsletter. Wonderful !

Cartoon: TY, Joanne for the link. Awesome!

Do be careful going to and from your appointment tomorrow. Have a good evening, and Thanks, Tom.

Anyone get this in their email inbox? President Obama's message on his Farewell Address (January 10th).
    https://www.whitehouse.gov/Farewell?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=email666-text2&utm_campaign=farewell

  4. You Tube: "I wish you to know my dismay upon hearing that you have hired Meagan Kelly.  It appears that you have joined  a race for which network can put out the loudest bigoted noise, and call it reportage, news, or anything like that.
    Bye, now."

  5. All in: More power to the protestors!

'Toon: Money is not speech! Money is not equivalent to either character, wisdom, ethical behavior, or, simply, being human!

Rev. John Pavlovitz: I wish he'd said those things, loudly, and clearly, before the election!

  6. It just occurred to me: NBC has Rumpy as an executive producer, Roger Ailles, who presumably hired Megyn Kelley, is on Rumpy's staff, and now NBC has Kelly.  Are we seeing a toxic pattern emerging at NBC?

  7. Puzzle — 3:33  Looks fuzzy and soft.  Bet it smells good being part of the evergreen family.

YouTube — OMG!!! . . . and her pay!  Disgusting!  That picture does not deserve $20M!  I think someone at NBC has had a mental breakdown!

All In — Kudos to the protesters!  On a broader protest issue, I saw on one of the MSNBC programmes a 25 page booklet on protesting called 'Indivisible' written by former congressional aides.

    Resist!!!

    John Pavlovitz — AMEN!

    Resist!!!

Cartoon — Nor is free speech made by multiplying this by the millions upon millions!

    Resist!!!

  8. Hope you make it to Courtney for some physical terror this time, TomCat.

YT(TYTC):Another TV network/media that now can't even be bothered to keep up the pretense they bring news and facts. All that matters is the ratings and the money those bring in and NBC clearly thinks Megyn Kelly is going to be good for both.

AI: Darn, darn, darn. If this is about real, physical protest against one of Drumpf's acolytes, then kudos to those that held the protest!

Rev John Pavlovitz :One of the very few religious leaders I truly admire. I think he's a marvelous human being. And that high praise from an atheist.

Cartoon: Of course it isn't. It's only speech when it's on 100 dollar bills and upward.

  9. Thanks and Hugs!!
